Aegon's Character and Storyline will be a challenge to adapt past House Of The Dragon Season 2.

  • Out of all the main characters in House Of The Dragon, the hardest one to adapt to screen might be Aegon Targaryen namely due to the way his story is structured after the fall of kings landing which we should be seeing in house of the dragon season 3. This is down to the fact he disapears from the account of events to suddenly reappear on Dragonstone at Rhaenyra's death with no context as to how he got there, we then learn with a flashback what he has been doing for the weeks he was missing and how he came to be on Dragonstone. The issue is this is going to be very hard to adapt to screen and the showrunners are going to have to make some hard choice in the direction they handle the story.

    The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

    I think if they go for a creepy vibe it could work really well, because everyone in Kings Landing knows he’s badly burned, can barley walk and that his dragon is miles away.
    They could make it work through Rhaenyra too, make her incredibly paranoid the entire time Aegon is missing, thinking he’s still in the castle (kind of like Cersei with Tyrion in the books after he disappears) so even if they don’t show him or where he is, his presence remains felt throughout the entire time he’s off screen.
    Also, make a point to show that Larys genuinely has no clue where Aegon is…this change would only add to the paranoia and work wonders for the plot line in Kings Landing.

    I think because HOTD will not be nearly as long as GOT they can afford to do the whole mystery subplot of where Aegon goes missing. They didn't with Theon because his show was longer and they used his moments to flesh out Ramsay whom they decided to make into a bigger character than his book counter part and as the show's main antagonist that was in-between Joffrey and eventually Cersei/Night King.
    The Dance of the Dragons is short enough to where the audience will be fine without seeing what is happening with Aegon and the Green's narrative could focus on Aemond and the others on his side. It helps set up the twist for show only viewers where they could assume that Aegon simply died but aren't certain and it makes a big impact when Rhaenyra bumps into him on Dragonstone

      @@flaviusaetius5701 That is not how the show is going to pan out. Rook's Rest is S2 ep4. S2 will end just before The Battle of the Gullet.
      S3 will probably end with Rhaenyra losing KL.

      This will obviously not be the case if the Dance is expanded to 5 seasons.

  • @user-ti5cw1ug6l
    @user-ti5cw1ug6l Před měsícem +5

    They'd have to put too much off screen. What they could do is have a penultimate episode end with Rhaenyra being suprised and killed with the subsequent being Aegon II's story.
    What they are probably going to do is just follow Aegon II's story and I don't think it will necessarily be that bad. This plotline will be a great opportunity to give him an arc and what the show needs most to succeed is the villain side having some of those, and I don't mean always towards more evil.

    I wouldn't say everyone had a clear idea where or by whom Theon was being held (the character himself thought it was his father and he was in the Iron islands). It was only made explicit after the red wedding that he was being held at the dreadfort by the boltons. Maybe you could do the same with Aegon, show him but keep the audience in the dark about where he actually is. However there's also the whole situation with Baela, I wouldn't want that cut out..

    Honestly I think there are only 2 possible ways they could tell his story:
    1.) Rhyneara flees kings landing and hops on the ship back to dragon stone where she meet aegon and as she’s burning the camera looks into his eyes and does his whole backstory or
    2.) Rhyneara flees kings landing at the toward the middle of the season, then the episode after that we go through aegons story and how he took dragon stone, then an episode of him retaking kings landing and burning the Sheppard, then the hour of the wolf as the last episode and aegon the third marrying Jeheara as the final scene.

Argon being lost was frustrating to me in the books because he would randomly be mentioned, and I wasn’t expecting anything from him, but if he was there, in bits and pieces, a chapter here, a paragraph there, as more than just a ghost living (maybe) somewhere in… what was it… the vale… I wouldve kept my interest and my expectations of him higher, rather than just suspecting he was dead and his body hadn’t yet been found

    HBO does time skip episodes so I doubt Aegon will be gone for more than 2 episodes there will just have been a long time in world between those episodes. Also HBO seems to favor Rhaenyra so the events may play out different and she may just outright win the war against the greens.

    I think we slowly see Rheanyra go into the mad queen just like in the books. Sure we will get a red wedding like surprise that will have people saying “wait what? WHAT!? “ it will be indeed talked about but again they spoiled her death in Game of Thrones when Joffrey tells Margaery of Rheanyra’s fate. I remember an online petition was being held that HBO should remove the scene all together which is impossible. I’m more curious of how we are going to see her killed. Are they just going to roast her and we watch Sunfyre gulp down in individual bites of her or is it going to be a shadow on the wall kind of thing?

    He does live up to his namesake and becomes a badass throughout the war winning dragon battle after dragon.
    Sunfyre, the most beautiful dragon had become as broken and beaten down to aegon but still loyal.

  • @laurashortill8623

    The show needs to avoid, at all costs, a Dead Dany Moment, where the fans thought they had a girl boss feminist yay queen apex, and instead got a flattened set of characters moving to a limp excuse for an assassination. So I could see them going in the dread and foreshadow direction rather than the surprise direction for Rhaenyra. They also could mess with the timing somewhat so that we see Aegon ramp up to take Dragonstone, and Baela ramp up to defend it, and then we end on a cliff hanger. We reopen next episode and cut back to kings landing. Then when Rhaenyra gets to dragon stone we have a slow build up of dread as the audience sees clues Aegon holds the castle and Rhaenyra keeps missing the clues as she walks with baby Aegon to her death.

    • @WorldOfWesteros
      @WorldOfWesteros  Před měsícem +1

      This is actually a very good point, going the dread route would prevent the sudden shock of dead danny. House Of The Dragon could give Rhaenrya's death the build up that Danny's needed to actually work.

  • @izaacpaez5533
    @izaacpaez5533 Před měsícem

    I’d say the best thing for them to do for the show plot is to follow both Rhaenyra and Aegon, if they have a scene like Aegon supposedly going to do a task near dragonstone one episode and having the next episode be Rhaenyra arriving on dragonstone and getting eaten as the end of the episode or maybe her in prison. A third episode would follow aegon and how he arrived to dragonstone by either finishing his task or subverting his course and if Rhaenyra is in prison it could end with her death🤷‍♂️
