  • I had the pleasure of being invited by IMI (Italian Motorcycle Importers) to run in a Moto Guzzi V9 , while riding her all the way to Cape Town from Johannesburg. There a not many better ways to test bikes and on this trip there were 2 Moto Guzzi V9's riding down. Jono rode the one and I rode the other switching every fuel stop which was between 200km and 250km. The 2 V9's we rode down were the Bobber and the Roamer.
What an adventure and what an eye opener when it comes to choosing or judging a bike. Follow us on this journey and see how these 2 beauties perform on this trip

One of the best and most credible review of the MG Roamer vs. MG Bobber I have seen to date.

I've had a roamer for just over 3 years now and all I can say is its a very underrated bike. Please go and test ride one, trust me you'll be surprised. I've done over 40,000klm on mine and only had 2 small problems. It is a fantastic touring bike with very comfortable ergonomics, great fuel range, I usually fill up at 320klm and there is still a few litres left in the tank. The seat is amazing and I've done about 800klm in a day and not too bad at all. The only gripe I have with it is the rear suspension, but that's the next upgrade on my list. Oh yeah its also not bad off road as you can stand up pretty easy, but you just can't go too fast as the suspension travel is pretty poor.

Thank you. I was wondering about the differences between the euro 4 and euro 5 models, or how is it different since the v7 and v9 also share the same engine. Nowadays Colors are dull comparing to the past.

Love this ride on review. Most are boring. Those Agostinis are the go 👍🏼🇦🇺

Great review and experience sharing. It s difficult to choose among the triumph, and guzzi and then v7 vs the v9s. Maybe a mix of V9 bobber with a better seat plus a windshield and eventuallly some new rear suspensions would be perfect.

I think for coolest look the V9 Bobber and then you just get a spare seat and screen for touring and take them off and put standard stuff back on for playing around town at home…..

@@laurentvenet2758 actually not, I read up on it. .I also ride a Triumph speed triple RS, and Harley Softail Hertaige. The V7, is great, as you know..quite nimble.

Over here in the states, the Roamer is no longer available with the improved 853cc motor. Is it possible to buy bars, seat and a small wind screen for the bobber to address some of the problems with the bobber?

Sadly here in SA we have lost our importer, but I do think they are available as accessories

How would you rate a V7 on a trip like this regarding seat and fuel range?
Also, when are you going to review the Moto Morini X Cape?

Yeah, no Dealer in durban. So no moto guzzi for me. Imagine the cost for service 🙄. How much money you going to spend on motorcycle transport? Very beautiful motorcycle though. Wonder what's the after market support from moto guzzi Italy?
