Wangala - Harvest Festival of Garo Tribe | 100 Drums | Meghalaya | North East India

Wangala is an agricultural festival celebrated by the Garo tribe in the second week of November after the harvest is finished. It’s a thanksgiving ceremony to Misi Saljong, also known as Pattigipa Ra'rongipa or “the great Giver” for having blessed the human beings with a rich harvest of the season and sacrifices are offered to please the main deity Saljong - the Sun God. The festival lasts several days and in the Wangala dance, the nokma or village headman-acts as the priest. The men of the Garo tribe play the horn and lok drums, and the women make formations around the nokma in honour of the Misi-Saljong.

Om yGosh! This is the very best ever travel shows, your perspective is super and the best part.. Yuo include the whole truck ride not just a glimpse, but the gravel crunching under tire for a spell the scenery, trees, palms.
