Sonic the Hedgehog Level Select and Debug Mode (Sega Genesis) - Retrogaming Easter Eggs

- In Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis, there are two easy codes you can enter on the title screen to access the Level Select menu and the Debug Mode. Here's how to get debug mode in Sonic 1 and also the Sonic Level Select!
For the level select, press Up, Down, Left, Right on the game's title screen. After you hear the ring sound effect, hold A and hit Start. If you performed the code properly you will be taken straight to the secret Level Select menu.
For the Sonic 1 Debug Mode, press Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right, C on the title screen. After the ring sound effect, hold A and hit Start. Note that it's important to hold the A button until you gain control of Sonic. Once the level starts, hit the B button to begin debugging. You can scroll through the level objects with the A button, and place them with the C button. You can also revert back to Son the Hedge with the B button to continue playing the level.
Furthermore, you can also use these two codes in conjunction. After entering BOTH codes on the title screen, select a stage from the Level Select menu by pressing AND HOLDING the A button. Once the stage you've chosen begins, hit B to start debugging.
It seems like when you enter one of both of these codes, you can pause the game at any time and hit A to restart your game. When you do this, you'll go back to the title screen, and you have another chance to enter one or both codes. In fact, entering one of the codes, then resetting in this manner and entering the other code is probably the easiest way to enter both codes (otherwise you gotta go FAST on the title screen to enter both codes in a span of like 7 seconds).
As an added bonus, there is also a sound test on the level select screen. Have fun!

Oh wow, i didnt know about the debug mode - I thought it would just be like you cant get killed, or let you have a bunch of rings to test the bonus stage. But adding objects and stuff, that's pretty cool!
