    as someone with eczema for a long time the removing harsh soaps and fragrances is great, aquaphor helps, topical steroids are 100% necessary for relief. Something you also might want to do is check your hot water temperature, the lower the better for eczema but obviously you want it hot enough to wash clothes and dishes. I aim for 125 F.

    I have had this since I was a very young kid. I'm 45 now and still get this every now and then, but it was much worse when I was younger. My palms, fingers and arches of my feet would become intensly itchy and then clear colored blisters would appear, go away on their own and I was left with leathery, cracked skin, which bled and is very uncomfortable. It is very debilitating as I can not hold a fork, brush my hair, grip the steering wheel, etc. Then after the fluid leaves, i peel the dead skin off and new, soft baby skin is exposed. This is very painful & I dont wish this on anyone.
    The doctors treat my skin like they would a burn victim as the heat in the palms can get extremely hot. They gave me cotton gloves and prescribed a silver burn cream. Sadly, nothing works for me. Has anyone had good luck with any products that help? I did get tested for 20 different chemicals and I'm HIGHLY allergic to Nickel and borderline vinyl. So, no beer, tomatoes, canned food, has to be nickel free jewelry, etc. I have seen so many doctors because of this, yet no one had ever given me a true diagnosis. I thought I was in a small group of people who gets this, but Im glad Im not and sorry that you suffer too!

      @DeadlyChinchilla Před 11 měsíci +21

      @@kieka It's happened for a couple years in a row, a few times a year. Each time it lasts a few weeks, and I think it's also related to my stress levels. They happen along the lengths and in-between my fingers mostly, and can end up super raw, then flake like snake skin after it seems to stop. I think it just runs its course after 3+ weeks.
      I took to using ice water to dull the sensation, because most hand creams just burn. A bowl of ice water next to the bed for night time helped more than anything else.
      Just so thankful I have a name for it now. I can go to my doctor and maybe get a medical cream that will actually help.

      Yes, stress of any kind, allergic reaction of some kind, some disease or illness come with them. Mine use to itch til I they would "pop" or leak fluid. Then I'd put on a blister bandage for a few days to absorb all fluid. Then I take it off & they dry up. Also extra fluid retention & the skin stretching can cause these too.

    My derm gave me an oral steroid and followed that up with a topical steroid and it almost cured it. Now instead of having my hands covered I might get 1-2 pearls that itch but don’t dry out, crack and burn like did before. Life changing.

    Sweaty hands are the trigger guys. I only get them in hot months, or holding hands for a while. Or wearing gloves in hot months when my hands sweat. The key for me is as soon as you see them starting to form on the sides of your fingers, pop the little blister with your fingernail, dig into it like you’re trying to remove a tick, and as soon as you dig into it then instantly put some hand sanitizer on it, you’ll feel it burn for a sec but then a few days later you’re all healed and the skin will be new. I’ve lived with this for 15+ years. Try to keep your hands from sweating if possible. And always feel for new bumps to stay up on it. Maintenance is the key. It don’t have anything to do with dehydration or allergies or anything. It’s purely about my hands getting hot and sweaty. Hope this helps someone.

I didn't even know nickel was in foods! 🙈😅 But it could be from using scented soaps & creams & oils & such. It spread fast and eventually covered her entire hands. Doctor did not know what it was but suggested she washed her hands less, used hydrocortisone cream and covered her hands with gloves or wrapped them. It took a good while but it eventually went away. She has episodes every now and again but as soon as the flare up begins she takes immediate action to avoid having an episode like her first one.

    I’ve had this off and on for years (happened right after having my son, which apparently is common), and I can tell you any type of dermatitis I’ve ever had has only been made much worse by topical steroids. Topical steroids have a rebound effect, even if used “temporarily” and can cause steroid dependence. When you use it the dermatitis gets better at first but then it spreads and the more you use the steroid, the worse it gets. I had to go through “withdrawal” which was incredibly painful and frustrating but it was worth it. I had to do a ton of research on this because dermatologists denied it’s a thing but there’s evidence of it if you do the proper research and thankfully after the lengthy withdrawal and finding out a better way to treat it, I haven’t had bad breakouts since. If I ever have a bit of a flare I use Lotrimin or other non-steroidal anti-fungal creams and it works every time. I’ll never, ever use topical steroids again. Just a word of warning. Don’t go down that steroid rabbit hole. It’s best to just avoid them.
