Just found this video- it caught my eye because of the Keep Gate Closed sign. Back in the 90s when I was able to ride we had a terrible barn owner/trainer that constantly left the gate to the indoor arena open while giving lessons. The third time I ever cantered in huntseat she had me doing circles at the end of the arena where we were going counter clockwise, therefore facing the open gate; the biggest problem with this was that the opening was straight in front of the horse’s stall. I was concentrating on everything wrong with my form and realized that JJ was not turning but intended to leave the arena and return to his stall. I have never tried to turn so fast in my life, but the fence was too close- HE stopped in time. I flew over his head and into said fence hard enough to break my helmet, knock the gate loose and spend about 5 minutes “swimming” in the dirt trying to figure out which direction “up” was. It was a marvelous experience!

@@nellieannll @allaroundmelody206 thank you for your concern! it is chronic pain brought on by an illness, but i am finding coping methods and i'm nearly ready to ride again (probably in the spring). thankfully it was not equine-related!
