- The BBE Green Screamer is a great Tube Screamer style overdrive pedal with solid build quality and through hole construction for easy modding access. Thankfully not a really collectible pedal, you can still find these in the used market for a good deal.
Today, we are comparing the two pedals by first checking out their schematics, then playing through each pedal and their tonal range, and finally a back to back looped tone shootout with four gain settings.

Hi Sid, thanks for the kind words! I'm also not a huge TS fan, I prefer something like the breadboard OD or a BluesBreaker. But, I do occasionally enjoy that Strat-TS-Fender amp sound, it's so iconic!
Tube screamers sound good but far from great to my ears. I have owned one in the past and played through many. They have their romance amps that they're made for but still overrated. My own unique and original pedal design, The Death Screamer, was made to replace mine and while I say it blows it away, I'll still end up building a variety of tube screamers this year.
*The one thing I do like about it though I'm big on a scooped tone is it's midrange dominance and honk.*

I like to sort of brag that I am formally educated in electrical/electronics engineering, but I never finished the degree and am constantly learning and hopefully, for the rest of my life!(people need to bear with me, I am unfortunately a wordsmith) 🤪
I recently scrapped a tried and true active pickup circuit that I had originally based on a common stock design using a BJT, and having worked with some Darlingtons recently, realized my bias resistor values were leeching battery life to no end! lol.
*It was humbling, but my newest version with just one BJT and resistors literally 500x the value has insane output and the voltage divider isn't letting absurd amounts of power drop across it rather than through the transistor.* It's unfortunately the result of me barely using my education over the last 12 years and forgetting the math entirely, but I am reviewing to get back to 100% soon.
*Now, one thing amazing did come out of this error. I invented a new scheme for Class-A amplification and IMHO, it's superior to the Darlington pair!*

@@arito TY! He's put focus on BJT's which I'm constantly working with. I'm accustom to BJT's and op-amps. Although the BJT is low impedance input, I have a theory that the required reverse leakage current provides some taming of transients in the forward current, and being a shred and instrumentalist, it's my key focus in circuit performance as well as critical note separation since I'm often producing a fury of notes.
My recent switch so my design is primarily amplifying voltage rather than power was the ultimate in humbling experience.
This is why I like referencing the experts, *but dammit I hate that most demonstrate using the conventional current path.* 😜
