I read the book years ago and felt that its "decanonization" was unfortunate. I am enjoying your reading and to your question...I definitely enjoy Sheev's incident and beginning of his path down the Dark Side. I also like his father implying that maybe the Force created him. If it was a fatherless conception or if his mother had an affair I think either way it was the will of the Dark Side.
I think this is a perfect origin story for Palpatine. It’s the same for any Sith: some kind of frustration, perceived injustice, loss, etc…that combines with a very strong will to enact change, on levels from the personal to the larger social narrative. Also wild that Sidious is always miserable and Plagueis plays off this.
Palpatine tossing people around with the force and screaming "WE ARE ALL IN THIS NOW" before he kills his own family is so delightfully Omen-like. It really fits the perception of him as a kind of Force-antichrist.
I read a non canon novel, where alternatively, Palpatine would encounter plagueis much younger through the entourage of the court of naboo, becomes friends with his future mentor whom helped him hide and control his powers while navigating the life of a politician to the top
This chapter and all of part 6 and how it makes me feel? Plagueis is more the architect and long term planner at this point. Sidious (my spellcrap tried to force idiots) is reactionary at this point. Had they worked together for a century, founding the empire together, the outcome would've been very.....dark indeed!
If you take all of the media from before the Disney purchase of the star wars universe its very impressive how all of the different media forms match up 100 %. For one book stories that would make for a good read I recommend star wars Cruciable. It's set 40 years return of the jedi. It goes into detail about cloning force users and explains why it was never done on a large scale. This story is also great because it features all of the original core characters except for Chewbacca. Thank you for your time you put into these stories. You are extremely talented.
Totally awesome! My son and I went back and listened to reading of "Dark Troopers" while we waited. It took us a while to finish it before we got back to this book. Super excited to keep listening 😊
I've been listening to this series with keen interest. Yes, I'm a Star Wars nerd. Haha I belong to fan association (basically a glorified book club with a role-play / cosplay component to it) that has a current reading challenge going on. I'm currently participating in this challenge, but now I'm stuck because this book isn't finished yet! Great work, loving the visuals and the effort put into the dramatic reading of this novel. I'm a bit lazy to read long stories and stay focused. Since Star Wars Theory speaks highly of Darth Plagues. I thought I try an audiobook on CZcams while chilling doing my thing. I'm a little lost though. Why Plagueis changed his goal from seeking immortality and risking it all for his apprentice to eliminate him. The Sith rule that there can only be a master and an apprentice. They are known to betrayal each other eventually. Surely he must know that Palpatine would overflow him just like he did with Darth Bane - if I recall early in the story. I can only assume the Force had long foreseen Plagueis path for immortality and Palpatine was created from the Force to diverge him from it. However, I thought I've heard Anakin being born from the Force was the response from the Force for Darth Plagueis.
I think plagueus felt he was the last of the rule of two sith and wanted a sort of equal partnership with Palpatine as the public face and himself in the shadows pulling strings. But you are right, he should really have seen it coming. 😅
When it comes to "Darth" names, some might not be Latin but more of a substitution. For example, Palpatine was described as "insidious" but if you replace the 'in' with 'Darth' you get Darth Sidious. Same holds true of the Star Wars villian guilty of being the 'in'vader...Darth Vader. This mean we need to watch out for future Darth characters: Darth Cogneto Darth Bred Darth Grown Toenail and finally, the most feared...Mother Darth Law
I know they claimed that in the movie Pitch Perfect, but when I checked just now it shows that German for father is "vater". I was only making a joke because of a coincidence I happened to see in the names of Vader and Sidious. Actually, I would actually be surprised if I was close to the mark on the reason George Lucas chose those names

It would just finish off making your stuff epic, I don’t know if you saw my other comment on another video, I said I think you do this book better than the original audiobook, it’s just missing the music bits, your voices and character interpretations are brilliant. Plaguies could have changed his kind and the munes forever if he had been guided too the light. Sith remind me of uchicha or even otusuki in Naruto/Boruto. Their passion is normally turned into anger and power through loss or severed connections.
Plus the cold harsh suffering Palpatining is suffering is but a taste of how buttel he tested Darth Maul at becoming a Sith Aprentice truly Maul did not need that harsh of bruttel testes Sidious just enjoyed every second of Mauls pain. Ordering Count Dooku to loss to Anakin lossing both his hands the most horrifying thing to happen to a Blade Master who's mastery at hand movement was his greatest pride lossing both hands to Anakin out manovuring him may have been even more horrifying than Sidious ordering Anakin to kill him only more tarifying because Count Dooku was defencelous. And Darth Vader's suit made uncofertable not even the best cybernetic parts some even less than General Grevious punishing Vader for losing to Obi-Wan, Sidious loved rubbing it in Anakin's face he killed Padme at the end of Revenge of the Sith.
