1 was 16 when this song hit the charts, I feel in love with the lyrics, the whole vibe of this tract felt good. We moved from the cold streets of the East cost of NY city, to the palms of the sunny West cost of CA, it was a cultural shock, one that felt good and positive!!!!!! I loved Mr. Dozier voice, his style of singing, he was an asset to the music industry!!!!!!!! 50 yrs later, I'm back on the East cost of hot, flat, sunny plamed FL!!!!!! I love this track so much more, the song holds an indelible space in my heart!!!!!!!! Good night Lamont Dozier, you are missed!!!!
As I write this, Lamont Dozier has passed away at age 81. My heart is heavy and I feel immense loss, but will be forever grateful for his beautiful songs and the mark that he left in the world of music. Rest on Lamont! They don't make 'em like you anymore!! Music wouldn't be the same without you!!!!
What a hauntingly beautiful song...not just the arrangement, but how the words describe a man opening up about his fear and disappointment and crushed dreams.
I tripped on what you said while doggone sad for Lanont Dozier Moving Forward .. Do you think it possible the vibes will return in massive love effect but we/us get the chance to see it or the gratification to experience full circle? I feel you tho
Just amazing. When talent was just exploding out of music and especially Motown. This was 1973, HDH had already left Motown to form their own label, invictus hot wax. Gordy got greedy. Screwed them out of Royalties. So the worlds greatest songwriters struck out on their own. Gordy moved the company to Los Angeles . To bad he didn’t put the funk brothers on royalties too. Instead of meager salaries. There was enuff money to go around and make everyone rich

Sadly Passed away this week , wasn't on the News as far as I could see , its a another one Of our heroes gone , never to be forgotten And emortilised on VInyl Rip 200 Kid
Check out his early recordings ,under the name Lamont Anthony , like " Popeye " superb early RnB Soul.... So sad he's gone , But look at the legacy he's left , loads of top Ten hits , making stars of unknowns through His wonderful writing , also " Back to my roots : not many know that' s his record..have a listen..
My goodness, I knew Lamont was an accomplished songwriter, but I never knew he had a strong singing voice. I heard this the other morning on my XM Smokey's Soul Town radio station. This man had a powerful singing voice. Motown had so many talented people from the musicians to the songwriters, to management, and of the artists themselves. I was 12 back in '73 when this came out. But I never heard this song before 2 mornings ago. What a treasure to hear this after 51 yrs. I tell you no matter how many start up recording companies come along, there will never be another one like Motown. It's was about the era of music, what all was going on and Motown actually being at the forefront of a new genre of an artistry foundation that came to be known as "THE MOTOWN SOUND". No music today can compare. I feel so blessed to have grown up in that era. RIP Lamont Dozier
I always thought that Dozier was a bit of a genius. This dude had a high IQ. He was something else. I was a big fan since my teen years way back in the 70s. This song here and "Why Can't We Be Lovers" were awesome. Very talented. Thank you sir for making my life on earth a little more pleasant with your music in spite of all of the unpleasantness. Wish that I had the pleasure of meeting you in person. Maybe in heaven hopefully. RIP 🙏❤
