      @CMMG Newton's 2nd and 3rd laws and greater bullet mass? Although that wouldn't apply specifically to 9mm, 10mm and .45 ACP do end up having more muzzle momentum than 5.56 NATO.
      In my experience with 3 PCCs and an 8" Banshee in 9mm, all of them had a softer recoil impulse than my AR-15 in 5.56.
      I will say that despite having half the barrel length and marginally less weight, the Banshee shoots the softest.

    Is the recoil delayed only by the friction of the bolt lugs’ rotation? As the round count increases won’t the friction become reduced causing closer to instant recoil?
    I think I’m misunderstanding something. Would anyone with better comprehension please explain this to me better? Thanks.

    • @fernandokat8748
      @fernandokat8748 Před 8 měsíci

      Think of it like like a screw, it takes longer to move because it has to rotate. Normal blowbacks are like a nail, moving straight back. Because it takes longer to move at first, the bullet has time to exit the barrel and the pressure drops causing less pressure to push the bolt back.

  • @buttbiter3139
    @buttbiter3139 Před 3 lety +1

    Wonder if it could be applied to traditional 556?

    • @bryandavid192
      @bryandavid192 Před rokem

      No point. This system is designed to bring some of the advantages of the gas system to blowback guns. 5.56 AR-15s are not blowback, and that's a good thing since the barrel pressures of modern rifle rounds are too great to allow use of a blowback system.
      AR-10/15/18, AK 47/74, AUG, and any other reasonably powerful semi-auto rifle since the M1 Garand has used a gas system, which delays bolt reciprocation at least as long as the DRB system portrayed in this video, and the reciprocating force is regulated by the length and aperture width of the gas tube.
      The DRB system in the video uses resistance in the breech lug to delay blowback, which may see reduced efficacy as that resistance gives way to wear of contact surfaces. Since the bolt of a gas rifle like an AR-15 is totally locked until the gas system unlocks it, there should be less wear by comparison.
      In short, the existing AR gas system is already better, and implementing a blowback system, even if radially delayed would be a bad idea. Probably catastrophic, actually.
      Hope this helps.

    None of these animations are correct. The bolt does not lock. The bolt immediately moves rearward, just like with a blowback system. It just moves slower until the carrier has fully moved back against the cam pin.

    • @CMMG
      @CMMG  Před 5 měsíci

      We didn't claim that it locks. It does rotate in the barrel extension as shown, and the barrel extension engages with the chamfered lugs of the bolt. That little bit of rotation is what delays the action.

    • @CarbonGlassMan
      @CarbonGlassMan Před 5 měsíci

      @@CMMG You don't claim it locks. Everyone else that buys it and tries to explain it says that it locks. And all of the animations I've seen show it locking. They show the carrier moving before there is any movement in the bolt. I think everyone is taking an animation of an AR15 bolt and carrier, modifying the picture to show the wedge shape on what is normally the locking lugs, then playing the animation.
      Obviously you know it doesn't lock. You designed it. I am curious if you ever tried a gas delayed blowback system like on the HK P7? I know you've tried gas operated, but did you try gas delay?
