  • Hi guys. In today’s video, I will be showing you how Aakwambi people, a sub-tribe of the Aawambo tribe of Namibia, brew omalovu giilya (traditional beer).

    Loved the video...only problem was that you didn't incude measurements of the ingredients used and especially the amount of oshikundu to add to the brew to help with the fermentation process. Really need that☺☺I'm a first timer and would like to brew aswell.

      Thank you😊 Since she’s a pro, she does measurements with her eyes😂 But she said you can use half a cup of oshikundu. To brew 20L of beer, you need about 10x (1L measuring cup) of sorghum flour. With water, you just have to make sure that the mixture is not too thick.

      It’s very important in our culture. We prepare it for all our events and celebrations. Be it a wedding, naming ceremony, introduction ceremony, kitchen party, etc.

    Sister please help me out... I try making this beer but my own thickened like fufu when boiling, pls what could be the reason

      Hi there. I think you probably stopped stirring the mixture during the cooking process. So next time, please make sure you continuously stir the mixture through the entire cooking process. This will prevent the mixture from thickening at the bottom.
