- Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic! Today we are back with another evolution challenge, this time catapult cars! In this case a catapult car is a car that launches the driver forward as far as possible using nothing but the power generated from hitting the wall at full speed!

i like how moonbo goes from forgetting the engine twice to a literal railgun
i think itd be neat after the placings at the 5th round if yous had a non-competetive exhibition round in which you have significantly more time and are allowed testing to bring the final designs to their 'final' evolutions and show off the limits of the design strategies you each went with during the match. feels like itd tie things together in a fun way
They actually kinda did, if you watch scrapmans video of it, kinda odd that kAN didn't include it though yeah
Watching Kan chase scrapmans vehicle made me think of a challenge idea. Basically set something fast off across a flat map with a bit of a head start, then race vehicles you’ve made to catch it.
yea that would be cool, could be either a prebuilt "runner" vehicle or maybe they could even each build two vehicles, a runner and a catcher to include in the competition

As Moonbo was about to hit the barricade, I thought to myself: "You know, the top part of now looks like a pistol's hamm-". My thoughts stopped as I laughed seeing Moonbo shot out like a bullet. 🤣 🤣

I'm only half way through the video and this is already the best Multiplayer Monday I've seen in years!
I think the formula is:
Heavy weight
High mechanical multiplication
Medium speed
Slightly above level launch angle
Also it would be good to have the seat disconnect early with a scoop behind it
definitely agree with the last one, to just prevent it from moving in the other 3 directions
This was great. Moonbo's last run was hilarious. Kan's had an expected trajectory. Moonbo not so much.
So glad you're evolving your own creations and not just picking whoever comes first. Can finally start seeing something different than the same builds over and over.

I think that this video portrays how a lot of science experiments were made, especially in aeronautics x} You think of the "simple" theory, then you build your first proof of concept... And it fails dramatically. Then you spend the next attempts enhancing the initial concept while forgetting some of the parts that were functioning in the initial design. And then, after a few tries, you're starting to get the results you were expecting generations of your product ago and even if they can be slightly below your calculations, it still brings you a lot of joy to see your thing works.
It also is how developing in general works, but especially in games.
Idea: Instead of hitting a wall, place sensors in line forming your starting point. Something like end zone pylons. Something tall that would activate the sensors on the end of your battering ram. Assuming that would get rid of the jankiness of running into a wall.

Low-key miss the OG Scrap Mechanic vids (the 2020-2021 ones) but I get it, we all evolve to new things and I think it's good y'all are still playing* it but also exploring new horizons :)

The mechanism of your and Moonbo's creation is fascinating. I'm curious about how it works.
It's a Class 1 lever that, instead of operating like a seesaw as a normal catapult would, converts the impact and linear motion of the ram into the rotational motion for the catapult. When the ram hits the wall, it pushes back against the bottom of the lever, which causes the contraption to pivot. Because of the way Moonbo and Kan designed their levers, this created an immense amount of velocity in a very short time, sending them flying into the heavens.

@@Blaster_Unity_UB It's super neat because it uses the energy of an inelastic collision instead of tension or gravity. Definitely not how I would have thought to do it, but it worked fabulously.
How about you combine these creations with your paper planes and see who can launch their plane the furthest, epic series btw keep it going
I've been watching old scrap mechanic and trailmaker challenge videos and I got a cool idea but I suck at modding
What if you had a ballast block to help make submarines in building games like this? The ballast block would work like this: it's fillable with water (but in reality the weight just gets adjusted) so in essence it transforms from a buoyant block to a sinking block. Like bubble blocks, ballast blocks would float by default but to sink, you need to add enough ballast blocks to overcome the natural buoyancy of your vehicle.
For user friendly interactions, the ballast block has 3 settings: empty (float) full (sink) and neutral buoyancy where they automatically fill with juuuuust enough water to make your creations neutrally buoyant. Of course you can divide them for manual fine tuning and so on. And the center of mass would have a cool effect. Putting full ballast blocks under empty ballast blocks would naturally keep your submarine upright.
It's a very niche idea but I think this would make a cool mod for anyone interested in making this a reality

Suggestion: Use these kind of vehicles and
play boule with them
I'd enjoy to see the if you each had one "steal" where at some point before the modification stage you could steal someone else's build and then make your own modifications to it yourself
You could try a hover craft evolution, say start with just 5 thrusters and move up from there.

Physics evolution. Like start at the highest and lower it down to 1 like 2 at a time. Maybe a short race or something. Make one vehicle and then try to race (or something else. Races in some regards are overdone)

Multiplayer Monday Idea: Create a "cow" vehicle where you hop in the seat, throttle up all the way, and then disconnect the seat to make a runaway vehicle. The three of you have to design a vehicle to chase down the "cow" vehicle and immobilize it. The person who does it the fastest wins.

I have an MMM idea for you you guys trade builds with each other so you’re trying to sabotage each other’s builds or your build so then it doesn’t work for the other while trying to give yourself as much of a advantage like you each build each other a car to use but it Hass to be usable like maybe it’s slowly falls apart It’s an idea for the build or it gets more top-heavy
