Didn't grab me on the first listen (loved War Eternal) but after listening for a few times, must admit this is awesome!
For a second I read the title as, "As the pagans burn". Pretty grim.
Funnily enough, the subject matter of the song definitely concerns horrible deeds and burning the evidence.

In my opinion, the best lyrics in this album are the ones written by Alissa White-Gluz. Her writing is the most poetic and original I've ever seen in the Melodic Death Metal scene.

I completely agree with you ! The Agonist's new stuff sounds like generic metalcore to me, much inferior to "Prisoners". It's mediocre at best and worse than what they did on "Once Only Imagine" (which wasn't bad, but far from excellent).

She's the best female vocalist, entertainer, in Metal period.
Doro is the best of heavy metal, Angela is the best of melodic death, Alissa is the best of "post"-melodic death (new melodic death metal period), Tarja is the best of symphonic metal, Mallika is the best of brutal death, etc. :)
But you can't claim, that there is the one and only best female vocalist in metal period at all, because everyone (in a metal community) listens to different sub-genres of metal and some metalheads likes may not like lyrics that different vocalists sing.
For example I like Angela more because when she was a vocalist, Arch Enemy was more about anarchy, rebelion, death and other things, that I like more than nowadays AE theme. Bit still they are great and Alissa is one of the greatest metal vocalists :)

I have never listened to Arch Enemy for the vocals, never cared. Of the three vocalists over the years at least you could understand what Johan was singing. Angela and Alissa....not a chance. As long as Arch enemy sticks with the same style of music, I will continue to listen.
I could understand most of Angela, and I can understand most or all of Alissa. Same way people said they couldn't understand Johan Hegg from Amon Amarth, I was always like "how? open your ears godommot"

Flying Whales heres johnny I have to disagree with both of ye, as a old fan as well(which doesn't really matter). Though it's only 2 songs so far, i feel it sounds a lot fresher than the last album and may just be the first step back up the ladder.

To be honest I didn't even like the last album, I just listened to it once! and that was it, in my opinion it lacked creativity, they are just repeating themselves over and over again, there is more into a song than just good solo's.

At first I couldn't stand the new singer (still haven't learned her name) and I was devastated that Angela left, but I still loved Michael and he writes everything, So I kept listening to War Eternal and this song and I really like the new singer. Also I hate to say it but her voice has a little more power than Angela's. Angela's era of Arch Enemy will always be my favorite though. Can't wait for the new album.

Pues Alissa no tiene la voz ni le llegará a la voz de Angela, pero quien mejor para sustituirla que ella. Fuera de Angela no veo otra cantante femenina que le llegue, yo creo que está bien que sea su sucesora y hasta ahora no he visto que pierdan calidad en las canciones que han sacado, al contrario me han gustado más que las del Álbum pasado.

no se a que te refieras que no suena tan AE , para mi surgio algo bestial, Amott sigue con sus riffs, y en que momento Angela dejo la banda, en la cima de su carrera, por que prefiero que haya terminado on una buena obra como fue khaos , a terminar escuchando criticas de ella que ya no las puede etc.... Alissa no le pide nada a Angela, y tal vez por eso Angela la escogio a ella... para mi las dos rolas an sido muy buenas....
