If it's too slow for you, turbo- or supercharge it. There's a room for improvement. Still, once you get older, power won't be that important anymore. It's all about mpg, comfort and reliability. I don't care about 0-60 anymore. If shit accelerates to that point in less than 9s I'm fully satisfied. Also, in a long run, cost efficiency is the main factor you should be looking at.
Exactly! I am getting older and only want the boost for the nice sounds. Power delivery doesn’t matter because I’m not gonna make it a full track car. It’s still gonna be my daily overall and I just want reliability, comfort, and some killer looks so when I park, I can look back at it and really call it my own! You’re completely right though and I agree with you fully! It’s just a car at the end of the day.
Jason Nguyen not really. They told me it had loose screws. I do not know if they changed them or just re adjusted them. But it hasn’t rattled since then (3 years ago)
LMAO I feel that complaint about the cup holders. I always put my water bottle in there so it's like "SORRY, passenger, you don't have anywhere to rest your arm." The analog clock is classy af though, just like wearing a nice wrist watch when in reality you're using your phone to check the time. Shit's gangster.
I have an 06 is250 and there is no interior rattling. It's nice and quiet, unless I hit a pothole. Only has 1 cupholder in the middle, but it's in a better location. Also, digital clock. Only thing I hated was the melty dash. I got them replaced though by the dealer via recall.

I have a 2017 IS200t F-Sport that I bought used in September 2018 & I agree that the cupholders are such a stupid design, but a near perfect car besides that. Lexus should have given the IS the center console from the RC which the cupholders are in a much better position.

Robert Espinoza yep! Same engine, you could even get a tune on the 300 to get it performing essentially the same as the 350. I love my 300 personally, more than enough get up and go - especially in sport mode
Only complaint I have is lack of power. Need to have the switch in power mode all the time to help it fill a little spirited. That and spark plug changed can be a biatch. You have to actually remove the entire intake manifold to access some of the spark plugs.
Damn I didn’t know that! Looks like I’m not doing the spark plugs myself haha. But yeah, I’m always driving in Sport Mode with Traction fully off!!! And it’s still slow but hey, it is a little more spirited!
I live in Toronto where it gets stupid cold. The suspension (bushings) squeeks when going slow and hit a bump. Only does it when its cold like 0 degrees celcius or colder. Also idles at a higher rpm when its cold in normal or sport mode. I dunno if Lexus did that intentionally to warm up the car quicker. Doesnt do this in eco mode. Other than that its been good to me with no major issues. My favourite part of the car is the looks too. Lexus did this generation right. I actually like the 2014-15 front grill and back lights better than the newer models. I think this car will age well like the 300zx, nsx, etc timeless car. Wonder what the redesign will look like if they dont kill the IS.
I do too! This gen is really really good looking! I didn’t even notice Lexus until this car and the RCF/GSF. I hope the next ISF is a gorgeous one! They did so well with the design of the LC500 so hopefully that will correlate into its design!

Giovanni I don’t plan on continuing it to the front however a subscriber used my video as a guide and he was able to do his front and his moon roof cover! It loooked amazing. Super happy for him! Mine has a lot of stuff in the way. His did not which was strange. Also, BMWs drive the best by far. I love the stiff handling and suspension, and on coils, it’s amazing. If you’re getting a newer bmw, you should be fine. Mine was 2006 and i got it around 2012. So it was already 6/7 years old. And my Asian parents drove it lol. I think if you mentally prepare yourself and know that bmw is expensive while going into it, you’ll be fine! It’s just replacing things like water pumps and all that which made it expensive. Maintenance wasn’t too bad. Full synthetic oil changes were $120-$140, spark plugs were decent, brakes pads not too bad. It was just major things like alternators and stuff haha. And since it’s more performance than reliable, it’ll def go bad.

The motor in the mirror goes out on BMW they make you change the whole mirror. Lexus the change on the motor
To stop the steering wheel wandering Look up RCF/GSF bushings for 3rd gen IS....it’s the number one mod. You take the lower control arm bushings from the Lexus GSF/RCF and install them, direct swap, 30 min job... Fixes the wheel wandering. Stabilizes steering and makes it feel 100x better than stock... a million posts about it on ClubLexus forum

Man, so I've been eyeing the IS for a couple of days and went for a road test, first thing I asked before take off, seeing it's a luxury vehicle with no handbrake, "Where's the button for the electric e-brake" The salesman told me it's a push pedal 😭 even commercial vans have handbrakes and Electric e-brake why not a fancy Japanese sedan?
Special order my is350 fsport rwd last fall 2018 and its 16k as of now, not a single rattle noise issue... still and will always be completely oem stock like it was meant to be in my book.
I would not agree with you for the clock, but of course, to each their own, I really like it, because it's timeless, you even get it into the new Lexus, so you can have a feeling that it doesn't age. But you are right, it's annoying to read the time on it 😂
I think the rattling issue has to do with the moonroof and the black rubber accordion-looking things that join the roof of the car with the glass when it's in the open position. Without the moonroof option, the rattling isn't there.
I wish the side mirrors automatically opened up when starting up the car orrrrr there was a button like in the Audi or bmw that you could push to operate the side mirrors to open up and close

Thank you man! I hope you enjoyed the video! The trick to that is to Hold the trac off button for 5 seconds or more at a stop/in park. Then go into manual mode or vice versa. It will not shift on its own and will stay Completely off.
I have a 06 is250 awd and I what I hate most about it is that the manifold and the entire exhaust system is made poorly, not stainless steel but tin cans material... had to replace both mani's and the exhaust pipes 😤 as well as the 02 sensors... but the worst was trying to find awd mani and pipes for it. I live in nyc and nothing I found was allowed here... however I love my car and dealt with it. Let's see how inspection goes lmaooo
I don’t really hear rattling on mine. Probably because my radio is blasting. I do hate the steering a little bit though it’s so light until you put it in sport mode and it tightens up a little bit. Yeah man I had to fix a lot if shit on my e36.

I own a 2009 IS250. It only has 110,000 miles on it and I know it has plenty of life left. To give it a modern upgrade, I replaced the headlights and taillights from a company called VLAND. I also tinted my windows and added new rims. I decided not to lower it because I just don’t like the look of it lowered. What do you think about these modified second generations with new headlights and tail lights? Still look stylish?
The rattling sound that sound like it was coming from the back they said it was the sunroof and over time water could get in so they replaced some Rubber seal and something else now I do not have any rattling at all
All your problem you listed does not exist in my lexus 2011 is 250 awd. The steering is stiff but responsive, no rattle noise, cup holder is in the right place. Heck even the clock is digital! Got me thinking if lexus cut some corners in the new model design? I drove the lexus nx200t 2019 and the sound system was garbage comepare to my 2011 is250.

I had the first gen and second gen IS, then I got a bmw 328i coupe the last gen brand new so I took the best care of it but after the car hits 60k miles the cheap ass plastic they use in the engine gets brittle and falls apart. U fix one thing u disturb other parts and it then breaks and needs to be replaced too. It’s been in the shop for major things at 60k miles over and over for the past 5 months. So now I’m ready to get rid of it for a new is, but the 350. The 250 is kinda slow, no?
Yeah, once a BMW gets older than 60-70k miles, it’ll start going to shit haha. That’s why people mostly lease them. And the 250 is slow, it’s only 204HP! If you want something a little quicker, the 200t or even the 350 are great choices if you have the extra cash! You should get another Lexus!!🙏🏿
I haven't noticed any rattling because coming from a Hyundai Tiburon the hatch is super rattley. Plus along with relatively stiff suspension anything in the road will make the interior rattle in a Tiburon

Hi Jason. I've bought the RCF. No rattles. I came from a Jaguar F type R. That had some rattles so happy with the Lexus. Steering on mine is super tight. The clock. Hummmmmm yes ok I'm getting use to it. May be we should wear it on our wrists. Cup holders in mine are in a different place to yours, so OK with them. The foot brake. omg. Whats that all about 🤔. Jason Nguyen I think Lexus makes beautiful cars, and despite having a 2008, I decided to keep it because I have the title of ownership for it, I can use it every now and then to give my 2018 Corolla a break, and most importantly... even the 2IS regardless of keeping stock grill or updating... it looks timeless and classic. All Lexus retains its class, wouldn’t you agree? Superb cars.
Have you ever had the check headlight system light come on? My light just turned on, on my 2014 is350. And it’s fucking pissing me off. Only turns on when it’s dark out, so I guess that’s a plus.

I feel you on the ratting noise. After I did an exhaust mod I’ve been having rattling. I literally think it’s because of our exhaust and how deep it sounds in the interior. That what I’m thinking for me.
15 is fine, just try to go through your local credit union & find a good deal. & maintenance isn’t as expensive as anyone even thinks, you can take it to any Toyota dealership bc it’s basically made from Toyota parts.

I had the IS model and I didn't have any raddlin nose. The analoge clock is dope because its old school for luxury. I kinda miss that car but I have es 350 f sport now.

I agree the cup holders, bad placement, but I really like the analog clock, I mean, I never use it anyway, because the time is displayed digitally other places in the car anyway. I also like that the nav screen is bigger on my 2017.
Hmm, I believe you should make sure the alternator is still good! And normal checks for any huge visible leaks and ask them when they changed out the water pump and thermostat!
Looked at a 2011 IS250 with 50k miles today for $13900 at the Lexus dealer. Very sweet car, but it was too small for me. I'm only 5'10 but the headliner was like an inch over my head. For a smaller person it'd be great.
Can only turn off traction control while parked, and takes a long time to. When traction control is turned off it’s not really off. Transmission doesn’t shift aggressively while in sport mode.
Jason Nguyen mine is an is350 with f sport. I have control over the shifts, but they are not as quick and sharp as my wife’s Porsche Macan. My IS is more comfortable than her car though. I love the f sport seats. Way more comfy than the RC F too.
Would u recomend this over a BMW? I'm on my second beamer and like them, but in thinking of buying this exact car, 2016 model . I hear the gearbox ain't the best, but I love the way it looks and reliability. My first bmw needed an engine rebuild at 50.000 miles , 3 years old
Damn, I’m sorry about that. My rod bearing blew at 3 years as well. It was only at 120k ish miles! Maybe even less. I love the comfort, looks, and reliability of this car! It’s not the fastest but it’s still nice to drive and you can always make it more fun with coils, sway bars, chassis braces, bushings and such! I personally love the car because there’s endless possibilities to me!! I loved bmw a lot too don’t get me wrong but I simply do not want to afford it haha
things that annoy me about my is350. #1 no cigarette lighter.....had no idea the car comes without one. #2 sometimes the plastic sides of sunroof come out n inhave to retuck it in. N yes the cup holders are in a baddd position my elbows always bumpin into my drinks. Other then that the car hasnt given me any mechanical problems

The rattling comes from the sun roof. I took it to Lexus and they fixed it around 3 years ago and no more rattling.

Other than that its been good to me with no major issues. My favourite part of the car is the looks too. Lexus did this generation right. I actually like the 2014-15 front grill and back lights better than the newer models. I think this car will age well like the 300zx, nsx, etc timeless car. Wonder what the redesign will look like if they dont kill the IS.
I do too! This gen is really really good looking! I didn’t even notice Lexus until this car and the RCF/GSF. I hope the next ISF is a gorgeous one! They did so well with the design of the LC500 so hopefully that will correlate into its design!

Giovanni I don’t plan on continuing it to the front however a subscriber used my video as a guide and he was able to do his front and his moon roof cover! It loooked amazing. Super happy for him! Mine has a lot of stuff in the way. His did not which was strange. Also, BMWs drive the best by far. I love the stiff handling and suspension, and on coils, it’s amazing. If you’re getting a newer bmw, you should be fine. Mine was 2006 and i got it around 2012. So it was already 6/7 years old. And my Asian parents drove it lol. I think if you mentally prepare yourself and know that bmw is expensive while going into it, you’ll be fine! It’s just replacing things like water pumps and all that which made it expensive. Maintenance wasn’t too bad. Full synthetic oil changes were $120-$140, spark plugs were decent, brakes pads not too bad. It was just major things like alternators and stuff haha. And since it’s more performance than reliable, it’ll def go bad.

To stop the steering wheel wandering Look up RCF/GSF bushings for 3rd gen IS....it’s the number one mod. You take the lower control arm bushings from the Lexus GSF/RCF and install them, direct swap, 30 min job...
Fixes the wheel wandering. Stabilizes steering and makes it feel 100x better than stock... a million posts about it on ClubLexus forum

A huge effect on material fitment on cars has to do with temperatures. It’s actually fairly common for vehicles that were built in colder temperatures to have alot of creaking in hotter climates due to the expansion of the materials other factors like humidity can have a noticeable effect on material expansion... a pronounced version of this effect can be heard when a vehicle is warming up in colder temperatures as you hear materials expanding slightly and sudden motions like bumps in a road cause the materials to shift and settle.

Man, so I've been eyeing the IS for a couple of days and went for a road test, first thing I asked before take off, seeing it's a luxury vehicle with no handbrake, "Where's the button for the electric e-brake" The salesman told me it's a push pedal 😭 even commercial vans have handbrakes and Electric e-brake why not a fancy Japanese sedan?
HAHAHAHA EXACTLY HOW I FELT! The pedal is cool tho! There’s also a way to bypass it so it doesn’t stay down. So it could end up being a drift pedal😅

I think the rattling issue has to do with the moonroof and the black rubber accordion-looking things that join the roof of the car with the glass when it's in the open position. Without the moonroof option, the rattling isn't there.

The trick to that is to Hold the trac off button for 5 seconds or more at a stop/in park. Then go into manual mode or vice versa. It will not shift on its own and will stay Completely off.
I have a 06 is250 awd and I what I hate most about it is that the manifold and the entire exhaust system is made poorly, not stainless steel but tin cans material... had to replace both mani's and the exhaust pipes 😤 as well as the 02 sensors... but the worst was trying to find awd mani and pipes for it. I live in nyc and nothing I found was allowed here... however I love my car and dealt with it. Let's see how inspection goes lmaooo

I don’t really hear rattling on mine. Probably because my radio is blasting. I do hate the steering a little bit though it’s so light until you put it in sport mode and it tightens up a little bit. Yeah man I had to fix a lot if shit on my e36.

I own a 2009 IS250. It only has 110,000 miles on it and I know it has plenty of life left. To give it a modern upgrade, I replaced the headlights and taillights from a company called VLAND. I also tinted my windows and added new rims. I decided not to lower it because I just don’t like the look of it lowered. What do you think about these modified second generations with new headlights and tail lights? Still look stylish?

The rattling sound that sound like it was coming from the back they said it was the sunroof and over time water could get in so they replaced some Rubber seal and something else now I do not have any rattling at all

All your problem you listed does not exist in my lexus 2011 is 250 awd. The steering is stiff but responsive, no rattle noise, cup holder is in the right place. Heck even the clock is digital! Got me thinking if lexus cut some corners in the new model design? I drove the lexus nx200t 2019 and the sound system was garbage comepare to my 2011 is250.

I had the first gen and second gen IS, then I got a bmw 328i coupe the last gen brand new so I took the best care of it but after the car hits 60k miles the cheap ass plastic they use in the engine gets brittle and falls apart. U fix one thing u disturb other parts and it then breaks and needs to be replaced too. It’s been in the shop for major things at 60k miles over and over for the past 5 months. So now I’m ready to get rid of it for a new is, but the 350. The 250 is kinda slow, no?
Yeah, once a BMW gets older than 60-70k miles, it’ll start going to shit haha. That’s why people mostly lease them. And the 250 is slow, it’s only 204HP! If you want something a little quicker, the 200t or even the 350 are great choices if you have the extra cash! You should get another Lexus!!🙏🏿

Hi Jason. I've bought the RCF. No rattles. I came from a Jaguar F type R. That had some rattles so happy with the Lexus. Steering on mine is super tight. The clock. Hummmmmm yes ok I'm getting use to it. May be we should wear it on our wrists. Cup holders in mine are in a different place to yours, so OK with them. The foot brake. omg. Whats that all about 🤔. Don't know what to say. Not made in this century. But the same as you. Love the rest and I love my colour orange 😎👌👍❤

Have you ever seen a second generation IS with the front grill of a third gen? Do you think that’s stupid ? I kind of want to do it to my 2008 IS250 that I rarely drive now and is my weekend car. I already changed the headlights , tinted the windows, and possibly might lower the thing. Yeah my 250 has become a project car.
I have! It looks awesome but I personally think the GSF front end bumper for the 2nd gen IS is the best. But I believe that is full custom!
Jason Nguyen I think Lexus makes beautiful cars, and despite having a 2008, I decided to keep it because I have the title of ownership for it, I can use it every now and then to give my 2018 Corolla a break, and most importantly... even the 2IS regardless of keeping stock grill or updating... it looks timeless and classic. All Lexus retains its class, wouldn’t you agree? Superb cars.

I feel you on the ratting noise. After I did an exhaust mod I’ve been having rattling. I literally think it’s because of our exhaust and how deep it sounds in the interior. That what I’m thinking for me.

The clock is like that Becuz Lexus is trying to make the car look more luxury had the same clock on my previous car a Infiniti and yea cup holders suck and I hear interior noise in my 2015 is250 f-sport but I feel like the noise is coming from the dash. I had the IS model and I didn't have any raddlin nose. The analoge clock is dope because its old school for luxury. I kinda miss that car but I have es 350 f sport now.

Yeah it does, it means the cars not aligned or the steering wheel itself is misaligned!

I agree the cup holders, bad placement, but I really like the analog clock, I mean, I never use it anyway, because the time is displayed digitally other places in the car anyway. I also like that the nav screen is bigger on my 2017.

Hmm, I believe you should make sure the alternator is still good! And normal checks for any huge visible leaks and ask them when they changed out the water pump and thermostat!

Looked at a 2011 IS250 with 50k miles today for $13900 at the Lexus dealer. Very sweet car, but it was too small for me. I'm only 5'10 but the headliner was like an inch over my head. For a smaller person it'd be great.

Can only turn off traction control while parked, and takes a long time to. When traction control is turned off it’s not really off.
Transmission doesn’t shift aggressively while in sport mode.
Do you hold it down? Mine is completely disabled and I am in full control of my shifts all the way to 6th gear with no auto shifts from the computer.
Jason Nguyen mine is an is350 with f sport. I have control over the shifts, but they are not as quick and sharp as my wife’s Porsche Macan. My IS is more comfortable than her car though. I love the f sport seats. Way more comfy than the RC F too.
I have a 2009 and if you press and hold the traction control it will actually turn it off. Might try the pedal dance as well. It works on mine.

Damn, I’m sorry about that. My rod bearing blew at 3 years as well. It was only at 120k ish miles! Maybe even less. I love the comfort, looks, and reliability of this car! It’s not the fastest but it’s still nice to drive and you can always make it more fun with coils, sway bars, chassis braces, bushings and such! I personally love the car because there’s endless possibilities to me!! I loved bmw a lot too don’t get me wrong but I simply do not want to afford it haha

N yes the cup holders are in a baddd position my elbows always bumpin into my drinks. Other then that the car hasnt given me any mechanical problems
