- On this episode of Gear Reviews, we are taking a closer look at the OPEN ROAD WINCH, a new channel sponsor who supplied me with a new winch for FURY, just in time for our trip to Gaspesie. My old 10,000 lbs Smittybilt was definitely getting a little tired, although after 6 years, still worked!
Speaking of budget winches, this must be one of the, if not THE cheapest winch on the market today that I am aware of. Check the video for details!

Question about the clutch lever. I was confused as to why it doesn’t have a notch or spot where it stays on the free spool position. I get that having it always engaged means easy use when you need it, as you said just turn on your remote and it’s ready. Most people say don’t leave the winch engaged (keep it on free spool) when not in use. Is there a reason why people say that? Is it ok that our Open Road winch are essentially always engaged?
That's a good question. Personally I have always had my clutch lever in the engaged position to retain the tension on the hook, and never had any issues with any winch. Not sure why superwinch as this clutch design vs a lockable position though.
It was nice meeting you but i forgot to take a picture wid you and my friend don’t believe me that I met you…..love your content

That’s too bad lol
@@NorthBoundExpeditions I just ordered a set of aftermarket front and rear bumpers for my 04 Tundra. The Smittybilt was the cheapest winch option they had.
Be nice if Allison learned how to drive, jeez, surprised he didn’t loose a flare … 🙄🤫😆
😂😂 🤫 this was a poor stranger I came across on who had sadly and totally accidentally driven into the ditch.
