- Become flexible like Bruce Lee by using his personal flexibility training program. The information shared in this video was adapted from the book 'the Art of Expressing the Human Body'. This video was made for educational purposes (under the fair use law).
According to the book, he stretched for 30-60 seconds in a given stretch. I would add as advice to stretch in 3 sets of 30-60 seconds stretches.

I have been doing a similar routine every two days for the last three months and I've gone from barely going past my knees to touching my toes and holding for three seconds. I still have a lot to work on but my flexibility has improved a lot and had I done it every day I would've improved much more. I will add all the stretches of this video to my routine, thanks!!

Great video as usual, Jerome. One quick question tho: I saw a lot of leg stretches, but little to none upper body ones. Is this routine specially lower body oriented or is upper body stretching not as important/necessary?
I sticked to the lower body exercises for this video, but he did do upper body stretches too according to that source.

I'm surprised that Lee didn't do more dynamic stretching. These are all static stretches. I've strained muscles with static, but never yet with dynamic.

Taking lots of rest. If it doesn't heal within a week go to a doctor or physical therapist to see if you have teared a muscle.

I shouldn't have filmed from above, making my legs look very short and my arms overly long. My arms are relatively long, but my legs aren't extremely short haha

i have a question.....when i start the flexibility i am stiff enough but after a while i i have 2.5 inches to touch the ground(butterfly position)
After 30 min or less when i try to do the butterfly again it as i start from zero again...why??

The split on a fence I assume you mean? That's not a 'van Damme thing' if you ask me. Jean did oversplits and even though I demonstrate that in many videos, I purposely didn't do it in this one. It's primarily a flexibility video though.
