That Mill Wheel is in amazingly good shape considering how long it has been there. I wonder if the large round stone wheel is laying around there somewhere. They would take a huge rock or stone and carve it into a wheel which they would use to grind corn and wheat. It's amazing how powerful water/Hydro is. The weight of the water running over those blades can turn that heavy wheel and in turn, using gears, can run a grist mill, heavy drills and other machinery. As always, enjoyed you and your video. Love that Cubs cap!

That area where the water is coming out of the rocks is just beautiful. The whole are is amazing and that giant wheel just adds to it.

What a beautiful word for a town. How sad it didn’t thrive, as most mill towns haven’t 😪 And I agree with Lamont👍🏻

Chris, this is quite a find! It's an artist paradise. Just think about the work this mill produced with no carbon emissions! The water wheel looks good enough to be used today. Great Job! Good idea with what your plans are for this channel. We can surely use some beauty.

Yeah, I've got a 2005 Ford Transit that looks like spent the last few years in the sea and this (at least 70 years of neglect) water wheel looks like it would be perfectly fine lifted and sat back on a frame. (And "d lay bets the frame would decay before the wheel would.)

Very interesting. So if the town “closed down” circa 1945, it’s amazing that almost all signs of it have disappeared in only 75 years.

Chris, this happen to remind me of how the mill and textile industries thrived across America during the turn of the 20th century from the 1800s. I realize much of the textiles were up north, but my grandmother worked at place here in Tennessee called The Standard Knitting Mill (later, Delta Apparel). The 5 story structure now remains abandoned and has done so since the early to mid 90s, but they made a lot of underwear and tee shirts for the Fruit of The Loom brands. Go check it out if u ever happen to pass by here in Knoxville. Love your videos. I really enjoy em

There's a gold stamper about 30k around the (Wellington NZ) coast from me that was built in the 1860's... 90 years later a book on the gold of Cape Terewhiti (we pronounce wh as an F in NZ) had some pictures of the stamper... We biked up the valley to the site and one of the stamper rods (heavy but movable) was still within a foot of the photo 40 years back (so I moved it back for the L of it).
The last time I went there the furnace had rusted off the boiler but still much the same... Since then they built a large track for the wind turbines (largely destroying the historic culverts etc from the original cart tracks from the 1800's (hey progress...)
