  • SWS Shallow Subwoofers at the 2009 SEMA show.
Earthquake Sound president Joseph Sahyoun talks to Seth Wilde from SonicElectronix.com about the thin SWS subwoofers. They offer incredible excursion (xmax) and a very shallow mounting depth. The patented design that Earthquake uses ensures a strong and durable cone perfect for subwoofers. They are also designed for select BMW and Mercedes Benz vehicles.

After such a long time, I still have my 8" SWS and I love it.

I spoke to this guy on the phone about a question I had for my 2007 BMW 750i Sport with Logic 7. He said he did in fact design the sub woofers for the Logic 7 and sold the patent to BMW, which is why he knows what he's doing. Pretty cool he answers the phone when you call their phone number.

@Bassotronics Usually a shallow mount design's will cost a little bit extra, however these Earthquake SWS Shallow subwoofers are currently listed at a great price on our website. If you're interested in getting the best possible package deal, just give us a call at 1-877-289-7664.

@hizbmw If you're going to go with two subwoofers then you'll want to definitely use an upgraded amplifier. It would be better to amplify even just one, but with two you're definitely going to need to get an aftermarket amplifier capable of higher output.

@sillychink3293 Generally speaking yes, after market subwoofers will have a deeper bass than stock market. If you wan to replace the subwoofers in your vehicle then you will need 8" subwoofers. This will be a factory replacement subwoofer than will take the place of your stock subwoofers. The subwoofers will hit harder and more efficiently making the bass sound cleaner and crisper.

@thercman96 We would not use this subwoofer as free-air. The box volume the subwoofer requires is almost the size of the subwoofer itself so we would recommend just putting it in an enclosure and call it a day. Hope this helps!

How good is the bass without an enclosher/free air.

@sillychink3293 I'm pretty sure he designs the speakers for BMW. But I don't know if I am remembering correctly.

I always was interested in these subs but the only thing that hold me back was the price. Double than a standard sub.

sound is bass muddy. plus it sounds like shit outside of the car. just bought a pair for my bmw. They are going back. Waste of time installing

Outside the car Bmw subwoofers sound shit. The oem subwoofers are meant for sound quality, not teenagers who want their bass to be heard from a mile away
