What I want to know is what are the vessels that handle the molten steel made out of ?

1st lesson, never pour molten metal on water or any moisture, it causes a very big kaboom.
You can pour water on steel but never steel on water !!

Would be nice if the commentary were louder than the "background" music. I can barely hear a word he says.

This is a good "modern" view of steel making and the state of the industry. I have gravitated toward the older industry as it matches the time line of the model railroad that I am working on. Fun stuff.

Great video. Is new steel ever manufactured without the use of old recycled steel? AKA virgin steel. Does anyone know? Thanks.

If you add the right amount of coal into iron you get steel. Cobalt is another kind of metall.

I see that this company makes steel for commercial building projects. Did they happen to be supplying the majority of US market during the 60's and 70's ?

We want to eliminate any type of pollution that could come from factories. Waters used should return elsewhere not back into our drinking water.

Modern mass produced "steel" compared to that produced 50 years ago is terrible quality, it is so bad due to the high percentage of scrap introduced before the iron is converted.Impurities from the scrap are not removed;the more its recycled the worse it becomes.Modern mass produced steel machines poorly and corrodes many times faster. In the past even the lowest grade steels exceeded modern standards for mass produced steel.Mass production = low quality, quality steel costs many times more now.
