"Bones" was robbed blind. This is probably their best entry to date, in my opinion, and deserved top 3 even in a tough year like 2018.

The guy from Equinox who was on the Voice Australia is Johnny Manuel. He reached the final four but lost to Chris Sebastian, the brother from the first Australian singer in Eurovision and coach on the Voice, Guy Sebastian.

Before Eurovision 2018 and The Voice Australia, Johnny Manuel competed in America's Got Talent and his take on Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing went viral. There was a sixth voice in the performance, a hidden female backup singer and it's her that sings that initial belt at the start of the song (as you can see that Zhanna is sitting still and with no mic next to her mouth). Some even said that the female backup singer was the one actually singing Zhanna's high parts.

It sounds more like they were singing together on the high parts. You can literally hear two almost identical voices at the long high note towards the end. It seems they had the backup to make a more natural echo sound (as opposed to a sound effect) and to do that initial high note you mentioned (it could be too risky to have Zhanna miss the cue at the very start. The backup singer could be prepared to be more aware of it without the added pressure of being visible on stage.)
You are right, the back up singer, who was standing next to the stage, not in sight was the one that did the first female notes and she also did the 'ethnic' ending notes of the song, where Zhanna clearly pretended to sing that, it was not her voice at all.
Personally I hate that, and would like to have a rule that the one who is singing should be at least be acknowledged and has to be ON stage, in sight.

OMG, this really is the best ever Bulgarian entry in the Eurovision.... I looove this song so bad it is still on my everyday playlist on my cellphone

The ethno sound (what you hear at the beginning and the end) isn't from Zhana (the girl). It's a backing vocal that is hidden somewhere... I always find that trick sad and even fraudulent
This Vocal is impossible to do only one person. In bulgarian folklore music is 2 or more voices to make this sound possible.
I agree, you can clearly see and hear that Zhana isn’t singing the first and final notes.
The singer singing the ethnographic sound is Maria Dimova - Mia D.

Estonia was my winner. But this deserved to win too. Not only to resolve the Portugal-Bulgaria fan conflict and to silence Kpstov's obsessive fangirls, but mainly because of the powerful vocal performance.
It’s just now that I noticed.. the girl was singing in the same style as this year’s Ukrainian entry (and I think a Polish entry in 2018?) which you described as tradition in the region. It sounds more beautiful hearing in this more modern song, having that observation in mind.

One of my favorite ESC entry ever. I didn't know then who Johnny Manuel was, he is just amazing, and way too good for the music industry today. How possible this guy has not a N°1 album around the world? Because music industry today is just sh1t...
