- The operation in this video was performed on a closed course.
The aircraft is a legal ultralight and all participants
(including camera operators and motorcycle riders) were
safety briefed and part of this production.
There was a post brief with the FAA
after this shoot was completed.

I remember Gyrocopter kits for sale in the 60’s in magazines. First time seeing one in flight...amazing.
Actually they are even older than that. A relation of mine used to fly one in the 1930s. They were known as autogyros back then.
Can purchase on ebay now. 😂
I can't get enough of this video. This is the best display of steady and stable flying in a gyro that I've ever seen. It makes me drool over it. I must have one.
😢
It is sweet but im scurred. My dada buddy built an ultralight and effed himselff up on tue first flight. Walked away but was pretty busted up.
I've not been back to this video in like a decade Shawn from when you first were posting your Gyro videos, (the early days) and it just popped up on my CZcams feed, not surprised it's now got 11million views, well done.
Yeah. Thanks.. Kind of fun how it's sticking around..
I have watched this so many times but never tire of it.
It was a fun flight and shoot
Awesome, great photography, real sound and no crap music!!!
Very Good! Flying ultralights always felt to me like riding a motorcycle with no bounds. Great video! Awesome!
I need one of those to go to work I'm sick and tired of all the traffic in California!!
Get a bike. Problem solved!
@@moto__shark with a whole bunch of lunatics on the road. high chance are you end up in the ICU room.
Unfortunately it's not legal to commute with an unlicensed vehicle. You'll need an "experimental" registration for the aircraft - basically you have to build from kit, do test flights, and have yearly inspections. Commuting requires a private pilot license or better: medical exam, ground school, 45 hours logged. Figure about $10,000 of schooling.
Fortunately this gives you the other private pilot privileges: flying at night or over congested areas, most small airports, talking to ATC. All airports if you have the necessary equipment and endorsement. Motorcycle is much cheaper.
Haha.. great idea in India also
You can enjoy the ride, its fast, you dont need deal with traffic congestions and laws, dont need stop, and can go in a straight l8ne from home to your place of work. But anyway Elon Musk are building underground roads to avoid traffic deals in LA.
Как мотоциклист и бывший пилот, получил от просмотра истинное удовольствие!
Awesome flying...and great photography too!
Great little aircraft. Nice film work as well! It was a fun and interesting video I've been a pilot for 41 years I'm going to build my first autogyro, looking at as many as possible to get ideas thanks stay safe.
I have my Butterfly for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
*Been playing some FarCry4 recently.*
I searched up "motorcycle gyrocopter"(they call it "buzzer" in the game) on youtube today and finally found it. My day's been satisfied. Thank you. Have a nice day.
Wonderful video with nice coverage of greenery .Excellent hardwork. Thanks.
Wow ! What a cool machine..I am totally green with envy !! You must have great observation skills going at that speed, scoping hazards like trees, fences, pylon wires etc., Respect my man ...🤢 !!
Пилот просто супер. С большим удовольствием посмотрел. БРАВО!!! СПАСИБО.
What perfect pilot skill and controls ..... hats off
Wow!!
Let me say once again: WOW!!!!
SIMPLY FANTASTIC!!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Fernando Massaranduba hello
That is unimaginably awesome!
Aragiss Thnaks.. It's so much fun.
This is absolutely the coolest thing I've ever seen! Are these in production? Takeoff/landing room needed? Top speed?
Very beautiful, creative and inspiring
When I first clicked on this video I got so excited I started laughing lol 😂 this is amazing 🙌🏽😍
Showing love from XKCD!
i cant get over how stable it is
2 beautiful machines in one scene!
I watched again. Very nice video and a professional flight. good job
You live once in life... That video is worth a risk... Great video!
Hi Shawn, I have bought the exact same gyro, upgraded it with the clt kit. it has the 582 to tax. I havent flown it yet but have had several hrs of lessons. hoping this year. just wanted to say I watch all your videos multiple times keeps me inspired. appreciate it!!!!!
How has it been going for you?
Look up his name dude actually passed away .. rip
"I have bought the exact same gyro" - con you help with infos where and how much. I have plans but I do not feel confident enough to build rotor head.
I've beemthinking of electric giro too
@@trail4844 what really? I couldn't find anything
@@solomonjenkins9505no he’s still alive, as of Feb 2023 he is still posting from what I found
This is super. Pilot control is amazing.

I love my motorcycle but I'd take the chopper for sure, looks like a blast!
It is.
not a chopper
@@ragimundvonwallat8961 Get to da chopper.
This gives awesome feeling
Little Nelly, lol. GREAT VIDEO AND AIRCRAFT! Thanks for sharing.
That looks like a lot of fun. Awesome!
great video. Only problem I see in the design is that the strut from the rear wheels points directly to the pilot. If it comes down too hard, the structure should be able to take the impact and not pierce the pilot. But it's hard to judge a design without seeing it close up.
So freaking awesome!!!
such videos will be part of archives of future generations. They will see our desperation to develop a more versatile commuting solutions Just as we see archives of old times
Wow! Very very good creation! Hope it can be popular soon!
My first comment on CZcams....ever!...after watching thousands of videos over the years. I had a recurring dream as a child that I took off flying in a bicycle. Not like E.T. but more like this. It had rotor blades and I would maneuver it over fields. Felt like deja vu watching this video. MUST try this some day.
They are good fun. Thanks for visiting... I hope you can someday.
Same here i have made real dream of this many many time when i was more younger
Sir please talk to me this is my number 8340534916 I am from India (Bihar) I need you to save my life. please please please talk to me
Hii
Coqui Castro ........ when i was a child i used to dream my body could fly.....id be flying horizontal.......if i tilted my head back id go higher and would loose height if i tilted it forward......i used my arms to go left and right......for the first few dreams i was indoors banging into walls n stuff but i eventually mastered it outdoors (in my dream state)........it was absolutely amazing.....the dreams stopped when i was approx 10 yrs old.
So very cool! I love the open pilot position, it must sort of feel like a flying motorbike. It looks very stable & nice to fly :)
2019, IS THIS GUY STILL ALIVE?
That pilot is an animal! That is some sick flying!!! I wonder how fast the motorcycle was goung.
wonderful to see such inginuity
great video--the machine I think everybody dreams of flying
cgi
@@mgmd4367 What's CGI, the aircraft?
That Gyroplane looks like it just floats through the air. I just sent for the blueprints to start making one but I will look at several designs before making a choice
Beautiful video
Oh that is so amazing. Closest I get to doing this in real life is playing Far Cry 4.
Yuuuuup, i just came from far cry 4 video, talking out an outpost with a gyrocopter, and now im here.
Yep
Awesome
Great camera work
Beautiful flying.
The smooth handling of the gyro is amazing .
Where I can buy this thing?
Mebi kharidunga
Any error you go straight up rather than down hats off
Wat a beautiful flying , great video
I could watch this video over and over again .
Just build then
I'm from India it's awesome guys
I love it so much 😍😍
Same as my old bike :)
This videos awesome! 😎
This is incredible
In the 1920s, if you wanted to fly like this, no one stopped you. Now, people want you to "be safe". Life is an adventure. If you want to fly like this, I am all for it.
And meanwhile suicides are more common too w the boring safety restrictions of a stressfilled modern world.
AnantaSesaDas A man wants fun but he must get certified by FAA FBA FCA FDA...
Bro this machine is safe, it can not stall
Its probably safer than the bike!!
AnantaSesaDas 😀
Remind me a lot of mission I'm doing in FC4
Long time waited machine with Improved version
This is exactly Captain Jedediah's autogyro in Mad Max. :D
Shawn what's the price of one of these fine machines sir?
Shawn,
Is that a kit? If so, who is the distributor?
Thanks
This one is made by a company called Air Command.
*GREAT VIDEO!*
My favorite gyrocopter video of all time 🙂
During the safety briefings, I bet they they told the guy on the bike at least 8 times, "Keep your head down".
Looks like something right out of an old James Bond movie.
It was called "Little Nell" in You Only Live Twice.
That's because it is
Mad Max movies had one...
that's what led me to this video lol
the autogyro is a wonderful apparatus! Felipe De León, pilot of the youtube channel, greets you TODO HOBBY
HOLY CRAP, I know where this was filmed! Live right near here! 😍
Tell us where pls
hi shawn adams i want your contact so cantact me my mail id sraj213@gmail.com, my phon number 9688777971. pleas cantact me
+sp Raja Hmmm, seems like there might be a business opportunity in this. If it's what sg Raja's post is about and all works out well, then it'd be nice if you'd let me know about it, for I'll then communicate about this to some friends.
Lots. I have as about 2000 hours in that machine.
Do these require same amount of knowledge as a regular full size one?
+Shawn Adams 3,000 hours is a year and a half of full-time employment, so it's quite a bit for test-flying this machine. It takes only a few weeks of learning to be able to properly drive an automobile on town and city streets, plus highways, including different ways of parking; and then it takes a careful learner to be able to learn driving during wintery conditions, f.e. That's a total of at most two full-time weeks (of hours), for slow learners. So, 3,000 hours means you have plenty of experimentation with your flying machine.
Sure, driving a ground motor vehicle can get tricky. F.e., I was very accustomed to the Eastern Townships of the province of Quebec, Canada, all months of the year. Roads were always safely drivable for me during all seasons; except, one winter, we very unusually had "black ice" and I wasn't experienced with that. I was driving slowly but the car felt odd for control. I scratched my head like a monkey and wondered if I was hallucinating, decided to stop and get out to check the road, immediately falling or slipping backwards as I stepped out onto the road. It was super slick, fast black ice. Very unusual for the area I was in! It ended up taking about 2 1/2 hours to drive only 18 miles! I didn't know whether to turn back or not and continued onward, hoping the ice would soon end, but it didn't.
Well, it didn't take me 2 1/2 hrs to learn to drive on the icy surface. 2 1/2 hrs is only for the duration of the short trip. The learning happened in a matter of minutes. The driving speed became 5, 6 mph, crawling. Yes, I learned from the whole experience, but it didn't take more than at most a few minutes to drive safely with this road condition.
So, 3,000 hrs is truly significant experience.
+Kinshay Shafra I assume you're referring to a helicopter? They are much easier to learn than a helicopter..
Adams, what is the cost of this vehicle? how much fuel it needs?
I'm feeling this one for around $15,000. New there are around $25,000. It holds 5 gallons and will fly for about 45 to 60 minutes per tank depending on how you're flying it.
That’s true friendship. Your mate buzzing you in a machine that has blades rotating so fast your mince if a gust of wind hits.
My thoughts exactly. Unnecessary risks taken for both for a photo shoot especially in that terrain which can be highly subject to updrafts/downdrafts/and shear winds.
Great job!
This would make an amazing James Bond chase scene
There is one actually. See: You Only Live Twice
It's part of two amazing chase scenes in The Road Warrior
I was just thinking, if i had the skills I'd photoshop the autogyro shooting at the motorcycle
4:30 almost cut youre hands :O
Awesome flying man! :)
Seems like He loss control
What happens if you lose power on that gyrocopter ?
@@ted6176 From what I've read, you float to the ground almost like you have a parachute.
@@Devin_Stromgren Yeah, I've heard that too, but hard to trust. Maybe retrofit the machine with pogo sticks so it can bounce to a safer landing ?
@@ted6176 o9
I seen this in the movie "Back To The Future". Nice Camera work 2:09.
That Daytona could dust that ultralight in speed. Pretty cool video.
Awesome!!
I have watched this vid so many times, its the one that makes me want to fly, apart from my Spitfire experience that is
How do you top a Spitfire as a pilot? F18 maybe! Those Gyro’s look pretty affordable and fun!
Do it. Fly.
@@rotorshawn - What's the name of this gyroplane? What's the make or model? Who manufactures/sells it?
@@manofsan It was an Air Command. I made a lot of modifications myself, but it's an Air Command at it's core.
@@rotorshawn - is that the normal size for that Air Command model? Or did you further shrink it down somehow?
Wow amazing work
ever since i have just seen like this very nice

@@tifanmpierre7783 Hi friend........ I am an Indonesian. So just speake Indonesian or English. Where are you from ? Excuse me, I don't understand your laguage.
What road was that filmed on and what ski area is that in the background? Great, inspiring flying and video. Thanks for the reply.
Imagine just driving down a long road and a guy pulls up next to you flying one of those that'd be insanely cool
I learned to fly on a Benson B8-M that my dad and I built in the early 70's.
Yep my experience was in the 70s takeoff speed was about 20 miles an hour landing around 8 very basic flying back propeller moving you forward keeps the top spinning which gives you the lift up my plans came from benson
I HOPE I COULD FLY LIKE THAT
You hope or you wish?
If it's home made incredible talent flying and building this gyro.
great video
If it's legal where can I get one! Looks like an awesome home project to assemble.
