They just did it to the ugly one in witcher 3, also Geralt found in blood and wine dlc the way to strengthen the mutangens further more. So he obviously knows how to do it and with the help of Yen he surely can do it. But according to his mindset from the games and books he wouldn't want to unless something major happened.
If this is following a witcher from this new school of the lynx than one can assume that it'll likely feature a new protagonist. Probably with a player created character. Though I enjoy some speculation. Its entirely possible that after the trial of the grasses was performed on Uma and it was found they could make new witchers, geralt, eskel, and lambert went on to found the school of the lynx after vesimirs death, and the abandonment of Kaer morhen

The Witcher 3 is still (after practically 10 years) one of the best game. I hope they have learned their lesson with Cyberpunk 77, and therefore, won’t release an unrefined product.
I remember the Witcher 4 release on the consoles was garbage framerates for that time and it was buggy as hell on the PC but Cyberpunk was on another level
they were rushed with cyberpunk most likely and might've been forced to change the game a lot from what they originally had then were forced to also release the game at that time before they could even get it back to what they originally had. The Witcher should be fine since it's different from Cyberpunk since they already have the formula
Honestly cyberpunk is pretty good now, just a bad combination of too much hype and rushed workers. I don’t want to see their studio close I like them a lot
We have such a huge investment into original characters and especially Geralt. Thousands of dialogues, fights with him… I really can’t imagine how hard it is for CD project Red to brainstorm these ideas about who the next main character should be… it’s sooo difficult
Witcher 2 is a pretty good game ven without the remake, witcher 1 aged poorly but i recenttly replayed witched 2 and honestly don't see much reason for a remake
Better idea would be Witcher 3 remake where political endings of Temeria, Redania and Kaedwen are continued Also Reason of State should be completely remade as something better And we need more Vernon Roche
Witcher 3 was the first and only game i have played in the series. I really wish Geralt was the protagonist again. I enjoyed him so much in the 3rd game. To me the 3rd game is the 1st game.
Play the other games. The first game's combat is janky but it's a good game with a great story and kicked some ass for being released in 2007. The second game is more like a less polished version of the third and has a great story in its own right.
Geralt holds special place in our hearts which no one ever could replace , Geralt don't need Witcher Saga , Witcher Saga needs Geralt. One of the best ever game character of RPG world. Besides some lacking feature's game is still loved and thanks to our modding community who keeps pouring fresh blood in this game till today and in your each walkthrough you find something new. As compared to 2015 this game is one of the best and will always be ❤
I honestly can't wait for both to come out. I'd love to see a new protagonist in 4, but I'm more than happy for Geralt to return if the story is good enough.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Geralts estate becoming a bigger encampment that becomes the lynx school I mean…he has a sorceress…he has the mutation thingy…he technically can do it
I don't think he would, unless monster populations suddenly exploded, and witchers really became mandatory, then maybe. It was stated that the time of the Witchers were coming to a close, also with the success rate of creating witchers, and I don't know if Geralt would have the heart to put a kid though that type of pain.
Interesting idea, but I think he deserves a rest. I always answer Regis' question with Geralt choosing a different life, if he could do it all over again. Corvo Bianco is one of the reasons I love the B&W DLC. Ciri, though, is another matter. Would like a well designed game with her as protagonist. (With familiar characters popping in, but not too involved)
I’m glad we’re getting a new protagonist though. Geralt has suffered enough, let the man enjoy life for once and settle down, he’s done fighting for now.
playing witcher 1 right now then ill play witcher 2. combat takes getting used to but the game is amazing and story is honestly just as good as witcher 3
Guys, just imagine an open world on the entire continent! With all the countries, the possibility to choose the Witcher school and so the start location. It will be awesome. A remake next gen of TW1 too ⚔️
This just blatantly isn’t true. You don’t know what you’re talking about lol. Geralt is constantly in focus for the last wish and sword of destiny, but to act like everything revolves around him is an active lie. Or you just have no clue what the hell you’re talking about but choose to say the shit you say anyway. Geralt is not the centerpiece in the novels. He barely is, actually. So much of the books give time to different characters. Ciri and the rats, dandelion, Yennefer… they are just as much of main characters as Geralt is. If you read something more and sword of destiny, you’d realize that it’s BS that Geralt is the “centerpiece”, the centerpiece has always been the family of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer. Never, EVER anything else. You need proof? How about we talk on how Geralt only shows up for 1/3rd of baptism of fire, the third novel. How about we talk on how the narrator constantly changes perspectives to suit the character in focus, quite literally fundamentally disproving your “fact” that he’s the sole centerpiece from which everything revolves around. I say all of this because I just KNOW I am going to see fake Witcher fans come out of the woodwork and act like the series was only ever about Geralt and nothing else. Hell, if it’s Ciri, Mfs are gonna say that it “went woke” and “failed sales-wise” while extreme success stares right at them. Can’t have our worldviews being actively disproven by reality! Just, do your research before saying shit like this. Read the books. They’re incredible. They’re so well-written and feature so many characters that it’s staggering. And very, very often in the novels, the focus is on other characters and away from Geralt. And THATS a fact.
@@johnstewart2981 first of all, chill, second of all, I have read the books and I still stand by thinking geralt is the centrepiece of the entire series. ofc there are a ton of other main characters who are integral to the story and are fleshed out and interesting in their own right, but I meant thematically, not in terms of the quantity of time he’s actually the tangible focus. the found family trifecta of ciri, yen, and geralt are the centrepiece of the series, but geralt is at the absolute core of its ideas about destiny and what it means or doesn’t mean, what it means or doesn’t mean to be a good person in a world and self composed of conflicting desires and emotions, and just generally finding your place in the world I think a game about ciri or another witcher could work because the games are (obvs) different to the books, but I also think a lot would be lost in the process, even if the loss is a phantom feeling and the story is still interesting/the characters are likeable. I think Ciri’s definitely the best option for another Witcher game but yeah the whole ‘anti woke’ crowd wouldn’t exactly like that
@@perspii2808 let’s be honest, the struggles with destiny and fate and if they are even real began and ended with the books. By the Geralt regains his memories in the Witcher 2, this awareness of destiny is established as a core part of his identity as a person. It’s a core part of his personality, although he never states it blatantly outright in 3. That arc of his character is gone because he has matured at this point. This makes 3’s story as a reunion between daughter and father that much more palpable, and it’s a story about sticking by your loved ones more than anything else. As a fan of the game, you love it because the characters already feel so full. But when you’ve read the books, you love it even more because all the characters are here, in their final iterations. So, with that being said, I think that shifting focus to Ciri for a fourth game barely at all loses any sense of identity with the Witcher. She’s exceedingly developed. There’s so much to her character. And who’s to say that she can’t experience her own crises of morality and faith while journeying through the world as a Witcher? It would be a perfect follow up if there ever was one. The best one. It would do the established universe justice and logically carry on the spirit of Geralt’s tale. It ought to be no one else if it’s a game set after The Witcher 3. To me, with how amazing and wide this entire franchise is, anything can be done. Just take throne breaker. Meve had a much smaller role in the book series and had her peak with knighting Geralt… but through taking liberties of her character CDPR were able to create one of the best Witcher stories of all time. Go figure - they made an amazing story that had nothing to do with Geralt but everything to do with the Witcher.
@@johnstewart2981 I really like ur point about loving the witcher 3’s characters specifically bcos we’re watching versions of them who’ve spent so long growing, changing, and maturing, even though they’re obviously different and less nuanced and complete in the games. I agree that there isn’t really anywhere to go with geralt that has the potential to be as meaningful or impactful as what’s already happened, and it would be sad to never have a game set in the witcher universe again so I can understand why they’re changing protagonists I agree with most of what you said. In hindsight, I was wrong. I can’t imagine a sapkowski follow up book existing without geralt at its core still retaining its essence, but I can imagine a sequel witcher game centred around ciri’s journey still having good writing and compelling characters. Thronebreaker proved that and so do so many of the side stories in the witcher games But even so, I can’t help but feel that without geralt’s perspective being ours it’ll lose an integral part of itself, the part stemming from sapkowski’s geralt and sapkowski’s versions of the characters in general. If it’s treated as a side story kinda thing like with thronebreaker I don’t see it being an issue, but if it wants to try telling a story on a similar scale emotionally to the witcher 3 I can see it being problematic. Ciri is a great character for a sequel because she can still change so much, but that’s kinda worrying in a way. With geralt CDPR had a fully formed character as a result of all of the books and where geralt is mentally at the end of them so it was hard to go wrong, but with ciri, she’s still changed a lot but she’s young and has a lot of changing to do, which is cool for a game and all but without source material to draw from, they might end up making her someone who doesn’t resemble ciri from the books, or just making her kinda boring and basic compared to geralt It’s whatever though. It’s worth them trying at least I guess. Even if it’s mainly for money which it prolly is
@@perspii2808 no matter what the case ends up being, something both you and I can agree on is that Geralt’s tale, as we know it, is done. Hell, it really was “done” when he got stabbed with the pitchfork and transported to Avalon by Ciri. Even the games are kind of rocky in how they wish to continue his story… I love them, but yeah, the whole “I was with the wild hunt” thing made sense but 100% felt like a cop out, which ultimately doesn’t matter because each of the games (even through the datedness and jankiness of TW1) has an incredible story that is classic Witcher. Even when Geralt is a complete amnesiac. And what’s more is that Blood and Wine quite literally gave the man the happiest possible ending - he ends up dying in his own bed. Something Geralt said numerous times never happens to Witchers, profusely in the books and in the games. But. I still love this series to death. Fuck, man, I am even happy that the Netflix series exists because it gets more people reading these amazing stories, perhaps even playing the games. So whenever I see fans of this series hate any new direction it decides to go in since its main protagonist’s story is completely finished, I can’t help but just stare, mouth agape, at such an insane level of cognitive dissonance. You love something, but when something new is announced for it you get pissed off. Not saying this is you, I’m saying this is a sociological trend for most franchises in existence. People nowadays want to be vindicated in their hatred and bias with new media in movies, games, and television, and they go so far with this that a new story from a developer who handled it gracefully (somewhat) is being looked down upon as a “cash grab” and “money-loving”. What’s worse is that these people think they’re critical-thinking geniuses when they’re nothing more than faux intellectuals. “Voting with your wallet” is fucking stupid, “go woke go broke” is blatantly untrue if you look at actual data, and the whole sweet baby inc bullshit has just exacerbated the latent idiocy amongst gamers, so that we are now seeing every single new game to a popular IP being met with senseless and baseless criticism. Why can’t we just be excited, and enjoy hype? Why must we subsist these good feelings for fake critical thinking? I love this series to death. I want to see more of it, and if it sucks, fuck it man - so much of the series is already phenomenal. I don’t care about a new thing sucking ass. That’s why I’m not bothered about Netflix Witcher at all. It’s terrible, but at least I don’t let hating that show become coded into my personality.
My sign build in Witcher 3 got me hoping for a create your own character so i can make one from the Griffin school. Unfortunately lore states that there are no more witcher schools left apart from the one Eskel and the others founded.
I hope W4 either follows Ciri, or complete new cast and new school of witcher so we can see things from new angles. CDPR has been patching W3, I hope they get all the bugs squashed before then XD My witcher ran 1000% crash free till the dx12 update
I do hope too it follows Ciri. There is so much opportunity out there. And I hope at least some kind of cameo from Geralt even thought his story has ended.
I believe the new game will be Ciri. I think playing a with Elder Blood in 3 was a test to see how it felt. Shes going to be just like Geralt after all
There isn't a canon ending yet, if Geralt makes all the right choices she ends up becoming a Witcher and traveling with Geralt for a while, then splitting off and taking her own path. I'd imagine that's how the next game would start, if it follows the current timeline/characters.
Then it will just be yet another male lead ip switching to a girl boss trying to please the 3% of people that would actually like that instead of catering to their main customers/audience. Though in these times its almost guaranteed to be a chick if not this time then it will just happen later as they are trying to do away with all strong male lead ips. it's the Netflix series all over again.
@@DaanOnlineGaming it’s up to the creator of Gerald’s story is finished. Ciri is an ok character but most definitely is not a character to carry the series. Sure she’s cool but she’s not that deep and factualy not that interesting. So if anything, either geralt again or what you said, a new Witcher. But if we are playing as a new Witcher then HUGE chances are that politics will be heavily put into the game. For example, they will make the main character trans or something dumb, or they will make the main character female and then make the whole game about being a Witcher and a female rather than a good story and good characters. So that’s I say just stick with geralt
@@hughjanus9489 I think they confirmed geralt not coming back for the 4th game, if Ciri gets a game then they can do a lot to build her character, it's not like it is entirely set in stone (other than the books), I agree they shouldn't base a character off of politics, even though I am quite open minded when it comes to it.
Wonder if there's any scope for a Geralt/Ciri 2 player co-op mode? Okay, maybe I've been playing "The Mercenaries" mode in Resident Evil and I'm wondering what a Triss/Yen co-op mission would be like as well. In addition to a Geralt main story, of course.
I do really hope for it to be ciri as the main character. That's backwards. The news article I read said that 4 would be coming AFTER the remake, specifically because they were using the remake as an opportunity to come to grips with the new engine before trying to do so while also juggling a brand new setting, new story, , new characters, etc.
No one will care about graphics at all if the gameplay design, world building and storytelling are not AT LEAST on par with The Witcher 3. Make that your real focus CD Projekt Red. Put all of your effort in those points before even thinking about graphics if you don't want a commercial failure.
Due to how the gaming market has been this last years, it's best if we don't get our hopes high for the witcher 4 ( Cyberpunk launch day memories intensifies )
To me it sounds more logic to release the remake first. They can experiment with better tech, which will obviously be an improvement from the witcher 1 anyways. Then they can improve even further with that, resulting in an even better result for the new series

I like this idea alot but damn, it'd be nice to play as Ciri and see her next story, with all of our og characters like Yen, Geralt, Dandelion, etc popping up as side characters to push the plot.
@@SuperMegaGaelourde maybe ciri founded the school of the lynx, and we'll get to see her old and call her aunty ciri like she called vesimir "uncle vesimir"

The Witcher 3 is still (after practically 10 years) one of the best game. I hope they have learned their lesson with Cyberpunk 77, and therefore, won’t release an unrefined product.
Dude it blows my mind it's been 10 years.

Get outta here with yer negativity, fake fan
They win a lot of money from cyberpunk sales
I remember the Witcher 4 release on the consoles was garbage framerates for that time and it was buggy as hell on the PC but Cyberpunk was on another level
they were rushed with cyberpunk most likely and might've been forced to change the game a lot from what they originally had then were forced to also release the game at that time before they could even get it back to what they originally had. The Witcher should be fine since it's different from Cyberpunk since they already have the formula
Honestly cyberpunk is pretty good now, just a bad combination of too much hype and rushed workers. I don’t want to see their studio close I like them a lot
Witcher without Geralt is already done, Netflix Witcher and we all see how that went 😅
Don't compare that crappy Netflix adaptation to cdpr
We have such a huge investment into original characters and especially Geralt. Thousands of dialogues, fights with him… I really can’t imagine how hard it is for CD project Red to brainstorm these ideas about who the next main character should be… it’s sooo difficult
It's going to be either Ciri if the game is in the future or some generic "blank slate" character if in the past

Would be cool if we could create our own witcher.
and pick what witcher school they're from! my dude will be from school of the enchilada, because I am very hungry rn
I don't trust the developer team and especially not the player base to match geralt with their character and feel the same way about it
that would be amazing but its no that type game unfortunately
They already stated a while back that geralts story is over but there more than likely will be a Witcher game without him being the main focus
I’m glad we’re getting a new protagonist though. Geralt has suffered enough, let the man enjoy life for once and settle down, he’s done fighting for now.
bro witcher without geralt is like god of war without kratos
playing witcher 1 right now then ill play witcher 2. combat takes getting used to but the game is amazing and story is honestly just as good as witcher 3

@@toostoneddan1345Buggy as hell
It has to star Geralt. He’s the centrepiece to everything in Sapkowski’s world. Ciri is an amazing character and all but it just wouldn’t be the same
This just blatantly isn’t true.
@@johnstewart2981 first of all, chill, second of all, I have read the books and I still stand by thinking geralt is the centrepiece of the entire series. ofc there are a ton of other main characters who are integral to the story and are fleshed out and interesting in their own right, but I meant thematically, not in terms of the quantity of time he’s actually the tangible focus. the found family trifecta of ciri, yen, and geralt are the centrepiece of the series, but geralt is at the absolute core of its ideas about destiny and what it means or doesn’t mean, what it means or doesn’t mean to be a good person in a world and self composed of conflicting desires and emotions, and just generally finding your place in the world
I think a game about ciri or another witcher could work because the games are (obvs) different to the books, but I also think a lot would be lost in the process, even if the loss is a phantom feeling and the story is still interesting/the characters are likeable.
I agree that there isn’t really anywhere to go with geralt that has the potential to be as meaningful or impactful as what’s already happened, and it would be sad to never have a game set in the witcher universe again so I can understand why they’re changing protagonists
I agree with most of what you said. In hindsight, I was wrong. I can’t imagine a sapkowski follow up book existing without geralt at its core still retaining its essence, but I can imagine a sequel witcher game centred around ciri’s journey still having good writing and compelling characters. Thronebreaker proved that and so do so many of the side stories in the witcher games
But even so, I can’t help but feel that without geralt’s perspective being ours it’ll lose an integral part of itself, the part stemming from sapkowski’s geralt and sapkowski’s versions of the characters in general. With geralt CDPR had a fully formed character as a result of all of the books and where geralt is mentally at the end of them so it was hard to go wrong, but with ciri, she’s still changed a lot but she’s young and has a lot of changing to do, which is cool for a game and all but without source material to draw from, they might end up making her someone who doesn’t resemble ciri from the books, or just making her kinda boring and basic compared to geralt
It’s whatever though.
As much as part of me wants to, I really hope we don’t play as Geralt in Witcher 4. For gods sake, let the old man rest!!

I believe the new game will be Ciri. I think playing a with Elder Blood in 3 was a test to see how it felt. Shes going to be just like Geralt after all
I hope not; Ciri isn't interesting enough as a character. Give me a new young dude trained by Geralt or Vesemir, inheriting their sense of humour etc.
I think CDPR confirmed that Ciri's cannon ending is that she become empress, so i don't know
There isn't a canon ending yet, if Geralt makes all the right choices she ends up becoming a Witcher and traveling with Geralt for a while, then splitting off and taking her own path.
If you don’t play as Geralt then don’t make the game
Geralt's story has been finished, maybe following Ciri or another witcher would be cool.
I want someone new. Geralt's story is over. Doing another game with Geralt is forcibly milking his storyline... it won't be good.
