  • Fleeting notes are a key part of the Zettlekasten system and provide a way to capture ideas when inspiration strikes, but how are they different from literature, reference and permanent notes? In this video I'll take you through my fleeting note capture process including the tools I use, the key mistake most people make and how I expanded one idea.

I love this video! Seeing how you document your entire thought process is so helpful for me because I tend to hold it all in my mind, which gets hard to maintain over time. Thanks!

No problem at all. I think many of us in the PKM type space can relate to that. I always struggled with remembering things as a kid but paper gave me an extended memory. Digital notes just add more power to that. Hope it helps you with your system.

Hit the like button instantly, literally best channel about Obsidian, imo.

Didn't know about the local graph feature (graph on the bottom right side), it's neat! :)

I use the local graph a lot more than the global one to be honest. Glad to help you discover it.

loved the integration of Drafts. I have been wondering how to do quick capture because the obsidian mobile app doesn't work too well. What theme are you using, love how the font color changes when you make them bold.

It’s the LYT mode theme from nick milo. I know what you mean about obsidian mobile. I don’t have any issue on my iPad but on my iPhone XS it crashes frequently and isn’t easy to open and capture at all.
      Thanks for dropping by.

I also love using Drafts for quick capture! I love that I can quickly capture ideas and then I can send those notes off to wherever they need to go. Random question, I see that you have the Reader beta. I’ve seen this in a few videos. Where would I find access to the beta? Thanks!

Good point, The sharing power of drafts really is its other superpower. Are you a Readwise subscriber? There’s a way to fast track people in the beta list and I can look it up, otherwise follow Erin Moore (@Erinmurr) on Twitter and keep an eye out for her invites. (I had forgot that I had reader visible! I can’t remember how much you can share during the beta. It’s replaced my other read it later services though).

Sorry another random question for you lol: what is the app in between Drafts and Omnifocus?

      @@MarshallBeyer I believe it’s Logos, a Bible study app.

Getting pretty heavy for fleeting notes

I mean, I did say I’d show how I bring the fleeting note into my system. The original note was extremely brief.
