I’ve been walking backwards for years. Incline on a treadmill is my favorite. While you can on an elliptical, I’m going to say treadmill is going to be better if you’re able. The elliptical is going to assist you, while the treadmill will happily throw you onto the floor 😉 The treadmill you’ll work more muscle; and angles, which I am a huge fan, and also work up to wide strides.

One of my mantras is: “My body knows what’s best for my health and well-being”. So with arthritic knees, an acute injury to the left knee, and one steroids shot to that knee -I made a promise: I will never rely on the shots -I will do all I can to naturally control and heal my knees. I trusted this ROKP protocol and literally walked less the 20 steps backwards (holding on to wall or counter) when I started -inside my home. Until I started this protocol I would have flare-ups -after just 15minutes of regular walking. Now I can walk backwards, outdoors on a flat safe surface, for three short blocks without assistance and at a very steady pace. I’m walking up to 40 minutes mostly flat but also some inclines without pain. This protocol may not be for everyone but I’m glad it has helped me tremendously. I’m also grateful to have not had a second shot after that initial injury-three years ago. My best wishes on your wellness journey.
