it is amazing if you ever visit irland you should go to the croke park museem in dublin it shows you all the history and you get to go into the stadium if you can try to go to a match you will never have felt anything like it in your life before and we all live and breathe it here in ireland
@mattyman17 You are so right, but this game is about 3000 years old, and defines the Irish for what we are. It was once a way of teaching battle field tactics, skills and techniques. It inspires and raises passions in the Irish, like no other sport can...........
Great game super Tipp, im a Dublin man and so proud that my team will get the chance to play the Champions in the Semi's waited so long for a strong Hurling team bein my favourite of the gaa sports from a mostly football county, Tipp for Liam again, they were robbed in 2009!
Exiting sport to watch..saw a lot of this when holidaying in Donegal....awesome...and they showed stacks of Aussie Rules on their TV too. Puts NewZealand TV to shame big time...
if you were there are no word in the world that could describe the feeling of even being a supporter these teams live and breathe for this all their lives and its only a hobby
i am delighted for tip that day well done tipperary playing kilkenny at their own game i am sick of the cats winning the whole time well done to tipperary abu!
Is this sport only played in ireland? I mean is it a olympic sport or is there a world cup for it? Asan american im new to this sport and would like to know more about it because it looks great.
we are Irish...no one in Britain watches this.....nor do british people watch gaelic football..they are OUR national sports in Ireland we love them and are proud of them..those who repect them and our culture are welcome to play whatever their background...if you don't wish to thats fine but show
Hurling, hockey and Gaelic football are probably the least played/viewed sports in Britain, I have never seen highlights of any of them on British TV and dont know anyone who plays/supports them. (although I am a fan of Hurling) In England, Football, Rugby, Boxing and Cricket are probably the most viewed sports.
The sport is really only big here in Ireland, but i've seen it gain attention in the US recently. Check this to see if there is a GAA club near you. This probably isn't a complete list, so you may have to do some searching about yourself.
@91gt306 where are you based? I bet we can find you a team, if not North America GAA then through a less formal club. @Dhegarty182 is right, hurling is taking off in the states and i can tell you that 2012 is going to be a watershed year for its growth.
@hoppuspears I would venture to say that you may have some Irish ancestry, given the fact you are Australian, I am surprised that you don't know about hurling. It is well known and played among my Australian relatives, and is the type of sport at which Australians excel.
You do but only in the Irish community in the Big cities. Hurling is the greatest of all field games but a sport needs huge moneya nd the prestige of power to expand. It has neither.
@STEPcoach if you install a program called hide ip, you can fake your location as being irish, im irish from tipp and live in holland, so i do the same!!!
@hoppuspears PS check out you tube vid. Hurling - the fastest game on grass, you will understand why I think it is the type of sport at which Australians would excel. It requires a high degree of skill, endurance and courage. much like Ausi rules, which is derived from another Irish national game GAA football.
i dont know what you know about helmets and pads but if you hit ice or another player at 90mph. you wont die... btw your sport is called ice hockey not hockey, hockey is a completely different sport, ice hockey is good and i know your canadians are mad abooouuut it but still hurling is the shit, these players get no money 2 play in front of 85,000 people and turn up to work the next day as a teacher, plumber, architect or whatever, also they dont strike over pay because there is none
hockey is gay, ice-hockey is good which is probably what you mean, but at the end of the day it derives from a scottish sport called shinty...its the exact same game but thousands of years older
This makes baseball skill trivial. I want more of this!
thank you so much for uploading this - those of us stuck in the USA can't get it by any means except for your generosity!
lol..i've NEVER even heard of this sport before. real awesome, reminds me of quidditch for some reason.

Great game super Tipp, im a Dublin man and so proud that my team will get the chance to play the Champions in the Semi's waited so long for a strong Hurling team bein my favourite of the gaa sports from a mostly football county, Tipp for Liam again, they were robbed in 2009!

Chuck Norris can cut through a hot knife with butter.
Why don't we have cool shit like this in the states?!
what a fuckin cool game
its like football only faster
so its like baseball and Lacrosse?
They must get some bloodied knuckles and Knees in this sport with no protection!
@hoppuspears

God I wish I was Irish/Scottish. Hurling and a hate for the British would make my life ten times more fun.
i have always dreamt of a sport where you can throw you bat at the player
You do but only in the Irish community in the Big cities. Hurling is the greatest of all field games but a sport needs huge moneya nd the prestige of power to expand. It has neither.

There's a reason we don't get it...
@mattyman17 let me rephrase that, it looks like baseball on wheels
Dem shorts
WE ARE IRISH NOT BRITISH OR NOT THE UK....
We are Irish from the republic of Ireland which is not part of the UK or Britain we are just Irish nothing to do with the UK
Weird...
i dont know what you know about helmets and pads but if you hit ice or another player at 90mph. you wont die... btw your sport is called ice hockey not hockey, hockey is a completely different sport, ice hockey is good and i know your canadians are mad abooouuut it but still hurling is the shit, these players get no money 2 play in front of 85,000 people and turn up to work the next day as a teacher, plumber, architect or whatever, also they dont strike over pay because there is none
That hurley throw sums up how much of a sore loser John Tennyson is
