@Mikey Pipes - Pipe Doctor Plumbing & Heating & Air been good. To busy been working 6days a week for the last two years. Man it was 72 herr yesterday 30 today
Check with the homeowners where Nick was. Maybe they have surveillance video in front of house. If I had to guess he probably called a family member or friend to come and get him.
I replace my Anode Rod in my Fifth Wheel water heater multiple times a year. Different types of water at all camp sites. Takes like 5-10minutes. Gonna have to carry extras around during the camping season and offer my services, and start changing out others in the sites around me
Anode rod looked pretty good. Getting a bit thin at the cap end, but overall, not bad. Good time to replace. Nice flush job via the hose in the anode opening. 👍👍
I had to replace a 5 yo water heater because it was never serviced. When I drained it, it was full of white chips as shown in the video and the anode rod had dissapers. Mike if Teflon is applyed to the anode rod it will isolate the rod and negate it job. The rod act as a negative so if you remove the connection to the tank with Teflon it doesn't work
It's a shame that very few people want to do what's necessary to get the job done today. However, his mother is probably very proud of him for walking away instead of helping to carry an old boiler. That's the way it is in 2023.
I can see where the tape would insulate the two pieces of metal from making a proper connection but pipe dup would still allow a connection while still sealing the threads.
Is this indirect a tank in tank design? Do you have any tips for descaling the ones with the heat exchanger coil, Mikey? Thanks awesome video as always.
Hey Mikey Pipes, why is your label on the indirect peeling on the edges? Do they change company labels depending on who is available?? Plus the two other labels... 🤣 You should affix a new label for next time. hahahaha, spoke to soon. Should have watched till the end of the video.
@@PipeDoctor It's called "galvanic " reaction. The tank is protected (cathode) and the rod is sacrificial (anode.) Must be connected for reaction to occur..
Shame I cannot post photos. I keep a T&P in my truck, it had a slow drip and over time stopped dripping. When I pulled it the inner guts were plugged solid. I show this valve to a lot of homeowners. The valve itself and vacuum relief required in this state are both relatively inexpensive. If a tank is drained for any reason they get changed. If am told a relief was dripping and stopped, it gets changed. If your going to pull the handle to flush it, just change it.
Capping relef vave nothin. 350 psi nothin my 7hp 180 gallon tank air compressor cuts out from factory at 195psi. It far more fun laying down the big k size oxygen tanks an knocking the valve off an watching it spin around like a turbo charged top an sudenaly picking a directoluion an taking off like a horizontal rocket blasting though a 10" hard concrete wall and keep going to the 2nd to 3rd city. Taking out anything in its path. Yes been there. 2200 psi. And many cubic feet .. the k size tank the largest shop tank avalable. I had a small tiny tank cone though box of tuck. The cab. Take the top of the engeine off. Take out the grill. And keep going. It was one of the buy out tanks used by plumbers in a cary box big dismal acetylene tank torch set. 2200psi torpedo
I'm confused on who you hired and let go, I watch your vids everyday. You let 2 inch go and just rehired him. I'm pretty sure I know Houdini(most recent) but who was the 3rd?
I used to change one for a lady had bad water I would change it every year there would be nothing left of it just threaded rod. She skipped a year I changed it put it back in leaked like a sieve. Called weil McLain they said her fault she should have changed it more often.
Them stickers your paying far to much an most likly there cheap paper an rad in the sun. I get 10,000 5x6 uv coated vinyl label like that plus 10000 business cards made for $195 usd including shipping from China. Even my small in house made parts . Colored boxes made for close to same cost.
What is up with these people just leaving jobs without saying anything, much more respectful to go up to the boss tell him I'm leaving and leave hes not going to force you to work lol. Be a man and don't burn bridges.
Mike: you are a real pro. Love how you educate us as you get a job done
Love that you are putting out multiple videos a day !
Good job Mikey Pipes 👍

I'll be replacing my anode rod soon. Thanks Mickey for the reminder.

Also went to your reviews. Make a whole video on that. People leave bad reviews but don't understand how it works
I did mine Wednesday and I put blue monster Teflon. Guess I have to redo it. Gonna pick up megaloc at homedepot this weekend and redo it
Sharp threads cut right through Teflon tape making a good electrical connection. Don't need to redo it.
@@crvinva ok thx for the info
There’s a reason you don’t Teflon low water cut offs in steam boilers.
Another great video and I'm also planning a trip to your area soon for a little day or two vacation maybe I'll stop and say hi
Good one Mickey✅
Mikey the Master Pipeman
Great info.Mikey. keep up the good work.
Great video my friend!

Do you need to turn off the boiler to avoid issues with the heating system while flushing? Or just isolate the cold water feed?
And give update on houdini
Fyi philanthropy website is down. Saturday 5:22pm Saturday 2/25
You are the man
Lots of respect!!
Try the blue monster pipe dope.
It's exactly like Mega loc. Blue monster pipe dope with blue monster tape can't beat it
Dealing with Soy at the highest level, old days guys/boys had balls, not anymore. Bye Nick, missed the best opportunity you’ll ever get💰💰🤷♂️🤷♂️

I had a oil fired lochinvar 30 gallon hwh. Lasted 22 years because I flushed it out every year.
They sure do and expensive now.
How do I find a leaking cartridge in my home? Plumber says water is coming into our tank from the out going pipe.
Thanks

Lmao oh nick I still want to know what happened to frankly. I guess we may find out when he gets rehired apparently.

The meme it’s the meme 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Very cool
is that laundry hose a special order item or can you buy it at a big box store? thanks, mike.
Teflon tape is an insulator and could interrupt the sacrificial electrical process.

@@patmurphy2472 So the threads should not be sealed? The washer is what seals it?
@@chicagolandbrokersrobertno3553 You can use some pipe dope to keep the threads removable, but yes the o ring is the sealing device.

My Rheem hot water tank is from 2015 and we moved in in 2018. Would you recommend we start flushing and changing the rod or is it too old to start?
🔧 Mickey I just might change my rod🔧
Pro indeed.AAAAA+++++

Check your truck for missing tools, Nick might have taken a souvenir.
Its like a burnt corn on the cob!!!
#1 rule....NEVER TEST the pressure relief valve.
..it will drip 4ever
.unless ur replacing it
You should file a missing person report. Lol.
I had the service man from oil company came here 6 times and relief valve still is leaking
Perhaps it’s time to get a second opinion

Yeah it's well water pretty bad
Water softener will eat a rod in less than a year. Water heater manufacturer says to inspect/replace annually if using a softener 🤷♂️
Damn it I thought you were a scientist! Maybe thats why Nick left. ha
File a missing person claim to the police !🤣🤣!!! Add missing person info on all the super markets

Nick!!! Why!!!

why is Kurt Russell's brother a plumber?
Maybe Nick was too scared to handle a 14 inch rod so he had to skedaddle
