Rubin came across like a 12 year old boy who had no idea what he was talking about. He replied with weak arguments about how the free market would correct any problems. The free market & zero building regulations doesn't prevent building collapses in underdeveloped nations, does it? Even in highly regulated European nations, or in USA, builders cutting corners and defying regulations is still a problem. Our courts are full of people suing others over malpractice, or even injured workers taking action over their boss's negligence & workplace safety.
I see ignorant right wing nut jobs complaining about "over regulation", or complaining about worker's unions, stuff like that. But most normal people view these things as progress. An example of how our society advances forwards, step by step, moving from the dark ages when people got screwed over to a fair and just society where people are protected by the law and given basic rights.

Second, Trump was not an "unknown quantity." He was a man of notoriously poor character, and everyone who ever dealt with him knew it. His legacy is that of a cheater, a liar, a philanderer and a blatant thief. The people he did business with knew to get everything he said in writing, and even that didn't always guarantee he'd abide by the terms. Wherever there was a loophole to be exploited, he'd find it and exploit it. Never once did he make an agreement with _anyone_ in good faith. We already proved humans can effect climate when we showed the correlation between the use of aerosol and the holes in the ozone! Governments passed laws to eliminate spray cans and changed refrigeration aerosol, and the ozone holes all but disappeared! Cutting the use of fossil fuels will benefit humanity in every way, it's cleaner, healthier, renewable, cheaper, provides more jobs, and does not strenghten nations that would do us harm!

If he actually picked up a comic book and read about the motivations of the original Thanos, he would have known that the reason Thanos divided the population of the universe in half was so that he could impress his potential girlfriend, Death! Making it sound like Thanos was doing the general population a favor by reducing their numbers and slowing down their resource consumption was a character inconsistency that no-nothings like Shapiro thrive on when they're debating "the left." There's a major flaw in her argument that what illegal immigrants bring to the table that makes them a more ideal candidate in a free market isn't being bilingual nearly as much as being accepting of below minimum wage pay. Companies that employ them can save a lot of time and effort on filing to enroll them as an employee, and can pay them lesser wages because none of it will be taxed and they have lower standards then those that grew up here.
The conversation at that point was specifically drilling in on the fact that people in poor inner city neighborhoods, which are by and large democrats, want to slow the rate of illegal immigration because it's hurting them. The jobs most people there get into are unskilled labor positions or apprenticeship based jobs if they're close to someone that will take the time to teach them, and illegal immigrants are very capable of also doing those jobs for less money. Not every company is willing to take the risk of employing an illegal immigrant but a sizable enough percentage are that it creates a palpable effect on employment opportunities for people that are already "disenfranchised" and lacking opportunities.
If you watch that debate at length instead of just the clipped section it went very poorly for Ana, they should have chosen a better clip there.

@@robertradford4707 the problem is that you’re basing this on the false premise that Coulter brought up about illegal immigration. Because of their proximity to a Spanish speaking region of the world it would make sense to want people to be able to speak the language.

@@robertradford4707 The complaint that Coulter brought up is that McDonalds wants to hire Spanish speaking workers. The logic is flawed in Rubin’s argument. capitalism does not incentivize “better” work meaning more competent. It usually means more cost efficient (cheaper) with a certain level of quality. We don’t get “better” hamburgers from McDonald’s inherently because of capitalism. We get “good enough for it’s price point” hamburgers.
