My understanding is they removed MIL CD support from the VA2. Region free BIOS had MIL CD support letting back up run on the system again

Yours is the very last Dreamcast batch (December 2000) from reading the label. Those were produced for sale in 2001. This is the batch that can't play burned games, and some VA2s from October 2000 still have the VA1 BIOS chip on them. I'm not sure about November 2000, but I think those are the same BIOS as the December 2000. I'm going to have to do a BIOS extracting myself sometime to find the BIOS date, because the PS1 tells you the date when you extract the BIOS.

Hey I did this mod, and despite changing out the Bios, it rebooted just fine, but with the same Japan BIOS! Is there something I’m missing? How can I change the BIOS chip as you showed and still have the japanese one.
