    It feels like DCL focused too much on "culture" and "the environment" and forgot that their customers are paying thousands of dollars (and more than other cruise lines!)...and that their guests want a relaxing and pampering island experience.

    *update* Elderly got DENIED assistance back to the ship from Lookout Cay (reported by a guest that attended #LookoutCay AFTER the preview cruise). May not be a good time to visit the island if you have mobility issues until Disney gets their shit together.
    If you are someone who has a cruise to this island booked already or will be booking you are in a great position because you now have information so that you can plan accordingly. if it was me, and these issues were still present during your cruise, I would have a nice meal either at the buffet or in one of the restaurants on the ship before heading out and make it a point to get to the beach and be in the beautiful ocean the whole time and it will be amazing. Don’t forget, being on a Disney cruise ship is still an unbelievable and wonderful feeling and experience. And for those that were holding off on booking the Disney Treasure or other cruise ships in the Disney fleet that are not porting at Lookout Cay, now you don’t have to fear missing out on this island as it is not the best destination in Disney’s island options, Castaway is still king!

      I noticed in elsewhere that the push carts for little ones are plastic and sitting in the Sun!! I wonder how many kids got their legs and bottoms burned from it. Disney sure has let their standards down. I don't do Disney anymore anyway; but I certainly would not even consider this place.

    I totally agree on many of your points. The buildings look so basic and cheap they look like they used standard building materials your would find at Home Depot like your standard white windows. All of the furniture such as beach chairs, umbrellas, eating area, kids wagons and strollers all look like what you can find on Amazon or Walmart with no thought involved. They didn't even try to brand anything. If I'm going to spend $$$$ to visit a tropical island I want it to feel and see unique things and not something I can find back at home.

    I’m sorry but the idea of putting Hawaiian/pacific cultures there just because it’s island and ocean culture is ridiculous. Disney is trying to respect and collaborate with the Bahamian culture and regardless of how well that’s done, the pacific cultures are from the completely opposite side of the world to the Caribbean ones.

      You can respect the Bahamian culture AND put Disney touches from their movies like Moana all over their area of the island, doesn’t have to be one or the other. Mickey Mouse being there isn’t disrespectful, Neither is Moana, Mauis hook or even path lit torches on a beach ( I call them tiki torches but they can be Bahamian made torches, no problem there).

    The food is COVERED in flies. It’s not even edible. Disney has a lot of work to do to make this a place worth going. That walk from the pier and the lack of shade is probably a huge no for a lot of people. And no tram for that walk! Yes there is one on the island but they need something for that pier. That’s the longest pier I’ve ever seen. Princess Cay through Carnival had the same food and the same issues with flies at their buffets too.

    Wow I can’t believe some of these comments. I just got off the inaugural sailing and I think most people agree with everything in this video. The beach is beautiful. The water is clear. The sand are perfect but there’s so much they need to improve on. I didn’t hear anybody on the ship after we got back say that it was perfect and that they enjoyed it. There was a lot of negativity. There are things that will fix and the island will be great ONE DAY!!! But for most it was a nightmare. at least half of the ship didn’t even get off on the second day. There was an outbreak of Norovirus. I myself was miserable the last two days on the ship. I believe it was from the flies. Again the issues that I saw, including the very plain desert like views will be eventually updated.
    However, with all of that said, I agree with pretty much every sentiment in this video !!!!!! 😢

I cannot believe Disney would serve you guys food like that. Hopefully you gave them some feedback about it, and it would be nice if they reach out to you with some sort of compensation or a discount/credit towards a future booking since it was a high full priced sailing with alot of things that weren’t ready or complete. I get the complaints about the flies and the walk, but Lookout was always planned with the idea that the Bahamian culture would be the spotlight. Its not Disney's fault you dont find their particular cultural songs, dancing, and festive clothing alluring 😂.

    • @disneyworldvacationer
      @disneyworldvacationer  Před 15 dny +1

      You are misunderstanding my point. Disney needs to make it more grandiose and put more money into the celebration. A few perfomers on trumpets is not enough. It should be a huge Bahamian celebration. My point in the video was, they spent barely any money on a few performers and clothing but the guest impact would’ve been greater spending that low budget on Disney things like a Maui hook & Moana boat. Had they made a bigger investment into the Junkanoo celebration, it would’ve be awesome.

      I’ll tell you what. If I had it booked in a couple weeks like you I would be STOKED right now because there is 2 possibilities about how it goes. 1. Disney gets on this quick, does something about the flies and gets more transportation out there to make that initial walk a non issue. Or 2. You know this information beforehand and plan accordingly. The beach is still absolutely stunning so knowing that and experiencing it will and should be your main goal when you dock. Have a nice meal either at the buffet or a restaurant on the ship before heading out there so if the flies are still a thing, you won’t be hungry for it. Also, being on a Disney ship IS AMAZING! @@peteri8924 False. Pirates is my favorite ride in all themeparks. I’m experienced and truthful enough to know the ip I mentioned would be better at the same level of investment they are making with the Junkanoo theme (and the lack of any theme on most of the buildings). If they are going to half ass the shows and the island, the ip would be much more successful on that level because it will be an extension of costuming, storytelling and prop work that already had budget spent on its conceptualization without using the current budget of Lookout Cay’s budget.
