    Definitely overlooked, the dial is incredible and the shark logo really jives well with the aquatic turtle theme. I like that the lume on the bezel pip matches the lume on the dial. Bezel has good ratcheting action. Also it appears the crown is at the 3:45 position, so if I ever wanted to switch out the dial for an OEM, I could. But I don’t think I will because I absolutely love the look of this dial

    Picked that one up for 124$ last sale. Man, what a stunner, that dial is phenomenal. The bezel is perfect, the strap is super soft. On top of that mine is regulated to 1s/d. I can't believe that your review is the only one on youtube when this is one of the best Turtle homages I've seen.

      It really surprised me as well. This watch is of tremendous quality for the price. I thought there'd have been more reviews and more sales of this one. Thanks for watching 👍👍

    Thanks for reviewing this. It's a tricky one, because it's true that the Seiko is still available and the price difference isn't as massive as with a lot of Chinese homages. On the other hand, this watch does such a good job of replicating and even slightly improving the Seiko that you have to wonder what you're actually getting for your extra $400-500.

    I own a heimdallr Willard which is amazing for the 80 euros I paid,build quality,Lume and movement are spot on so this is a no brainer I think.
    The 400£ difference between this and the Seiko is enough for me to choose the heimdallr.
    Really not sure why this model has been overlooked.
    Thanks for another great review and bringing this piece to my attention.

      Cheers mate, that's really appreciated 🙏👍 £400 is still a sizable amount of cash, so I can understand why some people would opt for the Heimdallr. It's a great watch and it's surprised me that it hasn't been more popular. Thanks for watching 👍👍

    It seems that many commenters might be willing to ay the difference for the original since it's still available, which I get. As for me, my budget appreciatrs a quality hommage. Yes I know later after servicing the piece you may ask yourself if it was worth it.
    The face is beautiful and I can't decide if the day/date complication detracts from the aesthetic or not. I guess I'd have to let the piece live on my wrist for a bit to decide.
    Another great review, thanks.

    I agree with your theory. Less than 2 or 3 times the price of this, we can probably get a Seiko Turtle which has an amazing dial too. They should rather change it more significantly. Say, 40-42mm instead of 44m, some people might be interested to know what it would look like on a wrist.

    • @TimeForAnotherWatch
      @TimeForAnotherWatch  Před rokem +2

    I agree. Most turtle, LE or SE version are still available in the market. Buying the original one would be more satisfying. Other than heritage, its a Truely certified diver. But it make me think that perhaps I would look into a direct copy homage if im looking to mods or for spare parts.

    @AlexanderB. Před rokem +4

    Fully agree with your conclusion about the watch. There is probably no point in picking this over an original King Turtle as it is not unattainable. This is a nice watch nonetheless. Although it isn't a small watch it looked overpowered by the 22 mm non tapering engineer bracelet.

    • @TimeForAnotherWatch
      @TimeForAnotherWatch  Před rokem +2

      Exactly... a £500 Seiko is much more attainable than something like a subby, so a subby homage will be a lot more popular. That engineer bracelet is a bit of a beast! Thanks for watching mate!

  • @michaelj8793
    @michaelj8793 Před rokem +3

    Personally I think it's too similar to the Willard to become super popular unless you're into seiko watches in general but I really like this watch for that dial and wish they made a green variant more like an actual sea turtle I do think you're killing it with your channel and wish you the best of luck Thanks my friend 👍

    It's a beautiful watch. But it's not ISO 6425 like the real thing. We don't know what corners were cut on the stem gaskets. It can never be trusted on a dive. At that point, you're buying it for the style and the lume. At least this one has day/date.

    • @TimeForAnotherWatch
      @TimeForAnotherWatch  Před rokem +1

      I'm not a diver but if I was, I'd use an ISO rated watch. Interestingly, a diver once commented on another video of mine that he'd used a Heimdallr watch (different model to this one) on a dive down to 80ft, as a backup to his dive computer and he had no issues with it. Thanks for watching👍👍

    • @jamesblank2024
      @jamesblank2024 Před rokem

      @@TimeForAnotherWatch I've taken a few of these "water resist" watches apart. Most have a simple compression gasket inside the crown. If not screwed in tight, it will fill with water. The better ISO 6425 watches have multiple gaskets, and gaskets along the stem.

    Part of owning the Seiko version of the watch which I own, is that it is a Special Edition Save The Ocean piece, meaning that as part of the purchase of this watch you are donating money to a good cause, and by wearing the piece, you are bringing awareness to a cause. One may perceive that you are buying this modern current model watch, you are ripping off a charity. There is a big difference between Homage and Rip-off. After buying the Seiko for around $575- (retail is $750), I upgraded the strap to a Strapcode Endmil bracelet that cost about $100- US as well as a FKM rubber, a leather, and a couple of Nato's (I am about $200- in for straps for my watch). Would anyone buy a $100- bracelete for a $150 watch. I just bought the Heimdallr 6105 because it has been discontinued from Seiko for a very long time, and it is legendary. The King Turtle Turtle isn't legendary because it hasn't been around yet for over a year! Seiko's new Special Edition Willard is their own homage to their 6105, so I don't see the Heimdallr 6105 as a ripoff of the Special Edition Seiko Willard, but rather as a homage to the original 70's 6105.

      I just picked up the green version of this watch for $150 and I have to say it's an awesome watch. I was looking for a sapphire crystal, screw down crown, green, automatic, rubber strap, good sized case, and good lume. As an owner of bulova, seiko, and others, this homage turtle is a great piece for my needs. So far its spot on, maybe +/- 20 sec after several days. Definitely recommend picking one up and seeing for yourself. Plus, I won't be heartbroken if it gets scratched due to normal wear, as I would be with others in collection.
