    I appreciate all the work and effort you must have put in to do this video and all it's peripheral (parts) information. I am new to FVP (very new) and have watched many "build" video's. Clear, understandable and delivers a clean insight into understanding the components and relationship to each other. Have you done a video on the camera set-up, ground station (if any) and what type of goggles best for s beginner? I wear glasses but want the experience goggles, screens just don't fo it for me....Brilliant video well done and thank you.

I ordered this one www.banggood.com/DALRC-NAZE32-REV6-MPU6050-32-bit-6-DOF10-DOF-Flight-Controller-for-Multicopter-p-1020774.html Can you please confirm with me that pin row with GND,5V,PPM/1,2-8 is for receiver and the 1-6pins on the opposite side of board for the ECS? I don't understand where is power for the board (didn't find this in video)? Should I connect battery 5V (or 12V? not sure if controller is able to handle it?)from frame to the VBAT pin and ground from frame to the GND next to VBAT? Is the frame. Many thanks!

    • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 7 lety

      +DiyAquaPonics the PDB makes things so much simpler. You don't technically have to have it, but not having it makes your build nastier and harder to repair/mod. You do not need the OSD if you aren't doing FPV

    Hry, do you have a link for the fpv trans mitter and reciver you had in the videom I want to be able to fly around my house, with barley any static. I live in a neighborhood, like yours. It would be great to get it to go behind a house three houses down if possible dont think that would happen. Thanks a lot your a big help and just to say I may or may not post a video of me testing this quad.

    • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 8 lety

      +Mitch D So we are using Fat shark goggles which came with a built in video receiver bit.ly/1WaqxtH
      but you can also get this video receiver and decoder: bit.ly/1rqWpgj This decoder comes with RCA cables so you can plug it into any TV/Monitor with Red/Yellow/White RCA inputs
      here is the video transmitter that is on the drone: bit.ly/1VKKerC
      This is just a 200mW transmitter, if you are looking to go around houses you will want a higher power transmitter like this one: bit.ly/1TiNl6K
      This one is a 600mW transmitter so it will go through walls a little better than the previous one.
      Let me know how it goes!

      +Dale Burrows that means it's not arming. The issue is that your minimum/max throttle aren't setup properly. Basically your throttle needs to ranger between under 1100 and under 1900.this is a pretty common issue you can find a video online

    Great video bud, my only advice would be to turn the flight controller 90 degrees before mounting so that the usb port is at the side where it's easier to get to. You can then change the gyro rotation to 90 degrees in cleanflight which will put the orientation back to normal again.

It's an excellent video you have put together though. Very detailed and a great video for anyone building their first quad. • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 7 lety

      Modz FPV Yes it would have helped me too knowing it and knowing how many times I would have to plug it in and open up cleanflight. There is something nice though about not having to change too many settings, especially for a first build, the fewer the steps the more confident you will feel about it I think.
      Thank you, I appreciate the feedback, and the subscription!

    • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 6 lety

      +kerry corcoran I never messed with PIDs if you leave it at default it's a bit tough to fly becuase it's really responsive. Another factor can be the quality of the sensors on the flight controller, oh and the settings of your controller if it has the capability to set sensotivities and auto leveling

  • @robertcortez3762
    @robertcortez3762 Před 7 lety

    Thank you man! I have confidence in building the exact one using the links you gave. Questions though:
    1. Do I need to get my own banana plugs?
    2. I have a Go Pro - what do you recommend for me to mount that? Or should I bypass the goggles and use the build 2 setup for the screen and figure out a way to record off that? I am a beginner.

    • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 7 lety +1

      Hey!
      1. Yes you will need your own 2mm female banana plugs (Banggood: bit.ly/2aOnt4W) (Amazon: amzn.to/2ay9Ypi). I would suggest getting a couple of pairs. More than likely you will mess something up and have to shorten your connection or whatever. I've used 1/2 of my 50 pair pack.
      2. Gopro mounting can be tough. You have two options: A) strap it directly to the frame B) hang it below the body on a gimbal. If you strap it to the frame you need vibration dampening or you will end up with tons of lines/waves/jitters in your video. So you can put foam down then strap the gopro on top of it with something like this: (Banggood: bit.ly/2aOni9V) (Amazon: amzn.to/2auSAy7)
      The other option was a gimbal, this is actually really nice even to fly FPV through, but they get costly. I tested out a really cheap one: (BangGood: bit.ly/2auSINT) (Amazon: amzn.to/2avXnCu) and it was terrible!! It would randomly spaz out and flip to one side.
      A note about goggles vs screen. The screen is much cheaper and easier to use. But its not as immersive of an experience. Goggles are way cooler!!
      Anyway,s those are the 2 options. I hope that helps!

    one more thing my turnigy 9x arrived today and looks like the receiver is different it has Bind,Battery and 8 channels. also it only came with a bind cable no other cables to connect to the Naze 32. what are the other cables called?

    • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 7 lety

      +Dale Burrows so the 8 channels are a build deal they just are extra options for additional motors/controls, to fly a quad you only need 4 channels technically but receivers come with a min of 6 usually.
      Usually the cables to connect the receiver to the Naze come with the Naze. Look up receiver 6 channel jumpers. Sometimes people call them servo motor jumpers

      Here's the dealio about cheap chargers, they are dangerous! So if you want to get a cheap one, I would highly reccomend charging your batteries in the garage away from anything flammable. This is the one thatwe used that was really cheap: www.banggood.com/TITAN-B3-2-3Cell-7_4v-11_1v-Lipo-Battery-Balance-Charger-For-RC-Model-p-71284.html?p=8Q12113516108201601L

      +Ankit Chopra those are big props that might not fit on this frame, I'm not sure. The only thing that'll happen if your props are larger or more aggressively pitched is you will pull more power from the batteries and potentially burn your motors or ESC's. If the 6030's clear the frame though, you should be fine using them

    • @HowWeMakeThings

      +DiyAquaPonics solid question. The flight controller gets power from the ESC wires that you plug into it. One of the wires is signal, ground and the other is 5volts. You can also power the flight controller directly by connecting it's 5volt rail (either where the ESC plugs in, or the dedicated 5V pin) to 5V power from the Power Distribution Board!

    • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 7 lety

      +Leon De Muynck you can record from your groundstation with the appropriate equipment.
      Basically you need something that'll receive the signal that is transmitted from the drone and then records it to a drive. This is usually done independently of the goggles you are using, but I think some fatsharks allow you to record while you view

    • @leon2194

Is there a way to get a faster performance using the same exact setup like same esc's but have a faster motor? if so what wouod he the life time for the battery for faster motors? Also, is there just different props that could make it go faster. thanks, sorry again for too many questions wish there was just another way instead of spamming the chat :(

    • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 8 lety

      +Mitch D its fine, I don't mind helping out at all.
      Yes there is a way to make it go faster with just this setup. get a 4S battery amzn.to/1VYoKYl and get these props amzn.to/1OvBIdJ.
      There is a danger here though, and that is that you will burn your motors. These props are have an aggressive pitch to them and therefore will pull more current. The motors you have DYS BE1806 are only rated for 3S batteries but you can put 4S on them, you just risk burning them. So what you do is, put on the 4S battery and those 5045 bullnose props, hover, feel how hot the motors are getting, then do some up down accelerations and feel how hot they are getting. If you can hold your finger against them for 8 seconds then its fine, but if you cant, then it's too hot and you will kill your motors.
      We have been flying with a 4S battery and 5045 bullnose on this setup for a white and its been fine. The power increase is awesome though!!!!

      +Mitchell Dever I'm glad I can help, I am still going through the learning process and it's nice to have a community that knows what's going on.
      As far as range, that is tough because you need both really long range transmission of your control signal (transmitter) and you need really long range Video. I haven't dabbled in either of those, so what I suggest doesn't have much ground. two things to note first. transmission frequency and power. Typically video is transmitted at 1.2Ghz or 5.8Ghz. 5.8Ghz can transmit more data but attenuates more while 1.2Ghz will typically have a longer reach.
      Here is a 5.8Ghz video transmitter that operates at 600mW
      www.banggood.com/Eachine-TS832-FPV-5_8G-32CH-600mW-Wireless-AV-Transmitter-p-975425.html
      as far as transmitters go, im not sure which are best for really long range, might be a good thing to search around for on reddit/r/fpv

    • @HowWeMakeThings
      @HowWeMakeThings  Před 8 lety

      you will need a camera for the tranmitter, yes. Can you link which transmitter you got? The problem usually arises when the connectors on the camera and the tranmitter are different, so you have to splice wires, that's kind of annoying.
      Have you already ordered what you are going to use to view the video? Like goggles vs screen?
