Why is Old Minecraft so Creepy? • Why is Nostalgic Minec...
I survived 100 days in Minecraft's oldest version: Minecraft Infdev. Minecraft Infdev is usually always overshadowed by Minecraft Alpha as the game blew up starting with that series of Minecraft updates. I decided to let loose with some Minecraft nostalgia and experience Minecraft Infdev for the first time, surviving for 100 days in the buggy pre-alpha landscape. Specifically, Infdev version inf-201000630-1835.

Why is Nostalgic Minecraft so Creepy? czcams.com/video/07r38bYlmhQ/video.html
There is a charm to these old Minecraft versions. Very basic but nostalgic. I remember how exciting it was when they actually added new stuff to the game like biomes.
I joined on beta 1.8 after they removed snow for a time, I lost my mind when snow biomes returned

Fun fact: the reason there's no music is bevause in this version there was a bug that wherever you turned your music on at, it would play ONLY in that area. You can literally walk away from the game's soundtrack.
XD
no way that's amazing
@@Nikos. I've only just found this out myself! I find it to be hilarious.
🤣
That sounds pretty creepy for some reason lol
I think its going to be good if you keep this world when playing other versions like alpha and beta
Yes. 😎👍
No.
@@ili-hy no it is yes
Nah, i disagree, he would miss out on the beta world generation that was so amazing.

LMAO you Busting your last pick axe in a cave an having to dig out by hand Just hit me with SO much nostalgia because THE EXACT SAME THING happened to me on my First minecraft world back in the which would have been around this time. it's actually one of the oldest Minecraft Related memories i Have.
Lmao it's a struggle I think many of us can relate to
@Nikos. I Put speed 2x To Speed your Rock Breaking alot faster😂

The song xD
I really like the simplicity of any build that you can make in these old versions. You can make just a simple house with wooden blocks and cobblestone and it looks so beautiful. It does not need any polishing.. It is just awesome on its own
It's a whole nother game, kinda miss beta 1.8
@@Nikos. Same, the old minecraft versions felt much more calming, empty, and something else...
@@Nikos. isn't beta 1.8 the one that got rid of the old, unique to Minecraft, floaty and dreamlike world generation and replaced it with a leveled(without differences in elevation), realistic one? I haven't played the beta versions that much myself, but from what I have heard, it's one of the most hated updates ever.
@@xlmtap1192added hunger and sprinting
Hey a bit if useful advice if you continue the series: you can actually mine spawners in a few versions of infdev. When replaced it becomes a pig spawner and u get infinite food! If you reply with the specific version (the number) then i can tell you if it’ll work
No way that's insane, I wish I knew that in advance
@@Nikos.u can do this in current versions but its from a glitch (cave spider spawner + buried treasure chest)
This shows why i like beta 1.7, it has enough features to not be that boring, and the world generation was amazing. But it was still not overwhelming that modern minecraft can be. It's a perfect middleground.
That it is, classic minecraft was peak
It just needs some QOL features & it'll be golden. But if you're used to it then it's not too bad.
@@miruharabae yeah, like being able to stack food, being able to land safely in 1 block deep water and maybe being able to adjust brightness, boats not breaking into sticks and planks, wooden slabs being actually made of wood and skins working. I think those are the main ones.
No, i need stackable and more varied food there.
@@CarpetHater Use the betacraft proxy for the skins and sounds
Cool video dude. I like the chill vibes, no overly loud commentary. And appreciating those little things in Minecraft.
Thanks! Glad you liked it, those were the vibes I was going for!
The no hunger is perfect. I'm just exploring and suddenly I start dying because I never cooked a ton of pigs
Ok he just casually built a skyscraper
I agree I miss the no hunger
Bro I wish I could play those old versions for the simplicity even the old pocket edition so to get that feeling I will play fake Minecraft that is just retextured mcpe 0.15 but I will play real Minecraft aswell
Nice love the terreria stuff cool
imagine playing a survival game and complaining about being hungry
I'd like to see this continue into the future versions, upgrade the world through them for extra oddities.
I plan on making a follow up to this one
love how all these super old versions of minecraft are coming back into light and it shows how much changed
nikos on his way to becoming CZcams man number 1
I started playing not long after Infdev. Alpha 1.1.2_01 was the version I began playing in. I remember the Halloween update getting added a month later and man did it freak us out. Getting a full set of diamond armor with full diamond tools/sword was a total bragging rights. I miss the old sounds such as doors and TNT. Enemies making Steve noises when they get hit was already fixed before I started playing, but that would've been so funny to hear. I also remember we used to call gold bars "sticks of butter" and we'd make gold boots and call them "Butter Shoes" because otherwise gold was trash.
Love the video Nikos! Thanks for the trip back in time and some great Minecraft nostalgia!!
Thanks! It was very nostalgic throwing this one together, I kinda miss old minecraft, back when everything was less known and not many people talked about the game, it had a eerie mystery to it
Looks like Nikos has joined the "surviving 100 days" trend
according to the stairs texture you are playing somewhere betwen Infdev- 2010 06 29 and infdev - 2010 06 30 , which is 2-0 versions until minecraft alpha , and is either 25-th or 27-th infdev version .
The version I used was inf-20100620-1835
Only the Avatar can master all four elements. Blade(Earth), Water(Water), Lava(Fire), Bow(Air).
The mobs making human hurt sounds is hilarious 9:58
Fantastic video! 100 days of Minecraft (the old and hard version)...that's dedication!
A little tip for Infdev and pre-cow Alpha: You can make cloth armour with wool blocks (this would become leather armour) - amazing video!
Thanks for the tips!
genuinely happy i found this video. this format of talking over your videos but also keeping the original commentary was funny. the way you talk in your commentary is also funny. dont change a thing :). best minecraft video ive watched in forever
Ah, I see. We have another member of the People Of Infdev. Congrats on becoming another man of culture. Also, nice video.
A classic version for sure, Infdev started it all!
1:20 Steve OOFS 😂😂
Man, what an adventure that was. It was very well documented. I felt a little bit that it was an end of an journey, with the end of the video.
21:22 There is no shadow of doubt; you are a man of culture.
This isn't anywhere near the first version.
In the video he said the first version which had infinite world generation
well, yeah, the titles clickbait. its one of the first versions of minecraft anywhere near reminiscent of minecraft as it is today and one of the first versions that actually feels like a game.
Its not like he could play the actual first world as a survival thing

i like watching videos like this of people unfamiliar with the golden age versions, discovering things different from the current versions. really good video!!
I can survive an infinite number of days in old minecraft versions.
Dig a hole, block the top with dirt. Then wait.
Seriously underrated! I found this really entertaining would love for u to go into alpha or maybe go even further back into indev
Something to note about the diamond generation is that they spawn most commonly on the southeast quadrant of the world and least common in the northwest.
Thanks for the tip, it would explain the lack of diamonds for the first month of the game!
It's only in classics versions this rule?
@@andresmoreno8060 no i believe its in the alphas and even the betas, but i might be wrong on that last part
@andresmoreno8060 @HappyPlaysWasTaken It was fixed in Beta 1.6
Nice video, I can see that you have a great effort to build these magnificent buildings. Love it!
Great video and commentary, and also as a terraria fan i loved the terraria hellavator joke at 6:57
Imagine if this video was transported and uploaded back in time to when Infdev was the newest version
first 100 days vid I've seen on yt that actually made me laugh
If you truly want to survive in the oldest version possible I think Survival Test would be the oldest and Indev without the Infinite Worlds being the 2nd oldest while also resembling the Minecraft we all know and love.
Noted, that sounds awesome but also tortorous
Nikos: Hope I will not get too bored...
Day 17:
Yeah this was a tough one to get through... Took several full albums to get me through it
@@Nikos. You're right that was a tough day, but atleast at the end of the day you gained my respect. :)
ahh yes the good old days when your only hope of ever finding home were the infamous lava tower beacons lol
I know I'm a bit late, but you can actually make minecart boosters. I recommend watching Grian's Evo episodes.

That was so comfy to watch. Nice job!!
Awesome! Thanks and glad you enjoyed it!
"that's not the oldest version of minecraft! this is!" *gets the oldest version of minecraft wrong again*

Indev 2009-4-31 was the oldest@@Nikos.
If you'd like to continue with another challenge the oldes possible build with survival is the 0.24_SURVIVAL_TEST built. this was the first build EVER in minecraft history to add the survival gamemode.
I should totally do this
crazy how u went all the way back to that old of an update wild dedication
this is amazing bro this is so good
This is one of my favorite 100 days ive seen the old versions of Minecraft really intrest me because i wasnt able to play them when they first came out
This video is amazing! I thought i was watching a youtuber with hundereds of thousands of subs, and was really surprised when i saw you had only 25kish! This video is very well edited, the script is really good, your mic quality is great, and the pacing is well done. You've earned a like and a sub! Cant wait to see more vids!
Thanks so much, I appreciate your support! I really put a lot of work into everything I produce, thanks for watching!

Hey man, just stumbled across your channel because of this video. I got to say, I genuinely thought you had more subscribers due to the quality of the video. Keep up the good work! I can tell it took a while to make this video, keep making the amazing content :)
Thanks so much for your support, this video did take a ton of effort to pull off. Your comment means a lot to me, more videos similar to this are on the way!
The most unknown/ Useful things about Infdev are
In the 1st third brick pyramids
2nd third Lava and Water physics. Also no cave gen and no bedrock meaning mob farms are stupid easy to make.
The last third and the best for last…
You can collect spawners also can craft golden apples if you somehow get red apples.
Yeah golden apple recipe is in the game, but sadly I don’t think there’s a way to get red ones
@@Nikos. Using betacraft log in as Notch, and jump off a cliff, and you'll get an apple!
i forgot how infuriating stairs were... this was really comforting, funny, and interesting o7
this made me remember so many things i forgot about the older versions. Like how you didnt draw a arrow with a bow, or how hard it was to get a full dia set. I remember even in beta versions someon with 2 or more full dia set probally cheated or really didnt have a life.
nostalgia is real 😪
This video make me so happy :)
I miss the old launcher, every update would include "Removed Herobrine" it really added to the belief of the myth when I was younger. I haven't played Minecraft since Beta 1.5 and it's insane seeing the difference in modern minecraft, I may play the older versions because the simplicity and emptiness is amazing to me.
Pre-classic started the game, Infdev started making players explore the big wide world in the game😄
The reason for not finding as much ore as you might expect could be the result of the ore distribution bug that was finally fixed in Beta 1.6. If you were in a -x or -y direction from 0,0 there were fewer ores. The least when you were negative in both directions :D
Great video! I think that due to the world being so bland initially any structures you make feel so much more significant compared to today where the worlds are more complex and have natural structures.
Thanks! I love the bland world gen, every now and then running into something weird was a rarity in mc
Instant click 😅
Infdev isn't the oldest version available, It's not even the oldest version with survival. That would be 0.24. Infdev is notable because it was the first version that added infinite terrain, hence the name, Infinite Development. Before that you have InDev, and the aforementioned 0.24. I think surviving in InDev could make for an interesting video, but much more before that and the amount of things to do in the game drops drastically, I think you'd find it really difficult to do a 100 days video passed InDev.
Edit: Regarding the minecarts needing gravity to go, there was a bug you could take advantage of that worked sort of like a primitive version of a powered rail, it was called a boost track and was pioneered by AlmtyBob. Though looking back in his video he was on Alpha 1.0.17 and not InfDev, so I don't know if it would work.
Interesting, I may have to do survival test or indev for my next mc survival video!
He said the oldest survival version of mc with infinite terrain generation
I’m from Memphis so I appreciate the bass pro. Nice touch
let's gooooo
You should have maybe used those last days to find structures (like pyramids or monoliths, depending on which version you were playing) or for a crasier, literally kinda impossible challenge, reach the farlands.
Honestly a very fun video. New Sub.
Thanks for the sub!
6:13 yeah? How’s it running? Incredible what platforms Microsoft has extended support for in modern times.
I actually really like the lack of an end game in older versions of minecraft
Do a whole series please
7:41 "minecraft is SUCH a fun and relaxing game you REALLY need to try it"
This is the game i fell in love with❤
Thank you for this video as youve confirmed that Im not crazy. I remember when diamond swords were so op and killed everything in two hits and now I remember why mobs scared me so much. Not just because I was new back then but because they literally jumpscared you. I also remember the lighting gave me the creeps.
Oh and for the rails you need a furnace in a minecart, then you gotta rc on the furnace with coal and it pushes forward like it’s on a powered rail
Love this idea, gotta do this next time I forgot that was an option!
I've done over 100 days in indev minecraft as it is the first set of versions one can do 100 days in, and I know how to upgrade from indev to infdev.
Maybe you already know this but infdev is definitely NOT the oldest minecraft version. There are several versions of the game in each of the following development cycles, which precede infdev: pre-classic, classic, and indev. The survival tests began in Classic so those would be the earliest playable survival versions of the game, and the end of indev saw a world much like infdev but with limited world size
10:24 bro got the SpongeBob scream 💀
ngl, I was terrified at this moment
@@Nikos. I played Infdev a while back and I can totally understand. They actually made mobs terrifying back then, and Creepers especially were a lot more dangerous
fr, they don't make any noise until they attack you, and the bow firing sound effect was 10x louder than the game so i got jumpscared XD@@JebMotorsport
Amazing video!
Thanks!
Apparently diamonds spawn more the farther southwest you go and spawn less the farther northeast you go from spawn. It's probably the reason you couldn't find many diamonds.
That probably explains why heading towards sunset yielded far more diamonds later in the game around day 85, was this just for infdev that diamonds spawned this way?
@Nikos. from what I know the bug existed until beta 1.4_01. I don't know when it was patched out exactly. You can google a map from a 1.4_01 world that shows the diamond distribution.
@@banebruja Unreal, thanks for the info I will have to check it out
@@banebrujait was patched out all the way in beta 1.6!
I survived 2 years of 2014 minecraft, and I gotta say
I'm impressed with the work I did when I finally decided to put on the recent edition, half of my builds were covered in this random ahh mountain. My underground builds disappeared 😂
Really nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
“i don’t know why they’d put a saddle in before boats”
i know that was just a mistake but it was really funny
Funfact: spawners choud be broken in minecraft infdev with any pick and when you place them back they actually spawn pigs which means, infinite food, which is really OP espacially in minecraft infdev ( you dont even need grass in this version for them to spawn)
I would like to see a 200 day version
Bro i had to say, i love old versions, they was simple and you actually need to play to evolve in the game, the old Infraestructure and the Simple Building Style is so better than the actual
1:38 💀
old minecraft felt pure
Props to you for making content out of a more bland and bare bones version of minecraft, where there are like a total of 5 things to do
Dang, survival in this version actually meant something in this version 😳😂
“it aint much but its honest work”
"most pointless structure i've ever made"
literally has a point
Ah, yes. Welcome to the old versions. Always asking yourself... What now? Even when having a goal of diamonds, getting distracted is super common.
Most youtubers do this challenge on version 1.0 but you went above and beyond (or below, depending on how you look at it)
If you don't plan on making a sequel like upgrading the world to Alpha or Beta, would you consider putting the world up for download?
Tower of pimps is a crazy callback
I can tell you why diamonds were so inconsistent! In infdev, there was a bug where the spawn rate for diamonds would be different depending on what quadrant you were in. The northeast quadrant had less diamonds, the southwest quadrant had more diamonds, and the northwest/southeast quadrants had a mid amount. So if the cave is close to 0,0; you might've been getting dryspells when you happened to go to the northeast quadrant, and more diamonds in the southwest quadrant.
Tch, you should survive 100 days in Minecraft Classic's survival test.
great video
1:24 "They look like monsters to you?"
Feels like I'm watching Patrick Bateman play Minecraft, the voice and random monotone sadism is uncanny.
Nostalgic rush
