You can double the brightness of the light with a makeup compact mirror. Place the mirror in the bottom of the container. The light from above shines down onto the mirror and the glow becomes multiplied.
Retired at last- GREAT IDEA!!!👍

Your welcome unappreciative BIT
@@londonuntergunther252 ❤I like that idea 💕🤗
Thats awesome
I bought a really pretty jar and put the light inside. I put it at my brothers graveside and my mom was really happy
I love that idea, I am going to do that for my best friend’ gravesite. Thanks for sharing, God bless.
Q
What a beautiful idea!
Can I ask did you put anything inside? My friends husband died in 2020. The anniversary is comung up I woukd really like to do something special for her to put in the grave
Brilliant!
After placing them in flower pots I spread them strategically around my yard to help my elderly dog navigate better at night. We thank you!
Awww! What a gr8t idea‼️❤️🐾
How sweet of you to love your dog like that. Please give your pup a scratch behind the ears for me and God bless you!
@@moescuervo Great idea! A pot full of soil or gravel will give better height for a 'dog's eye view'. Thanks!
Glynnis Thomas Thank you. I will.
So sweet, thoughtful.
I have been sooo impressed with these lights. Bought five last year. Figured I’d be lucky if they lasted a month. One year later, they are still going strong. Lasted through rain and sleet and -30 degree weather. Still going... WOW.
Mine too! I was shocked because of our long MN winter! Amazing!
Same!
I did the one w/the broomstick...I put a few in some large pot plants and dropped morning glory seeds in....(did this last spring!) If I only could show the pics..I had purple morning glory s climbing all the way up to the top..IT WAS GORGEOUS!!
Great idea! Thanks
@@jessicaparks7604 me too, love flowers
I want to see..have snapchat?
Oh! I have purple morning glories seeds from my friends house to plant this spring, guess I have a new idea to light them 😊 thank you.
Thanks so much for this add-on hack! I need to repot a climbing vine, & this is perfect! 🌻🥀🌻
*VIDEO UPDATE:* Please don't throw away your old Dollar Tree solar lights, the battery inside them is replaceable. There is a single AAA NiCd 1.2V rechargeable battery inside each one and it can easily be accessed and replaced using a small screwdriver. (They sell a small screwdriver set at the Dollar Tree in the auto aisle.) Also, in the video, I mentioned using E6000 to glue the lights in place, but instead, I would recommend using hot glue or a semi-permanent glue, so you can access the battery when it dies. Thank you so much for watching!
ChicOnTheCheap thanks for the tip!
But where do you find replacement AAA solar batteries? I can only find AA.
Bulbs and Batteries Plus sells the AA and AAA solar batteries in 4 packs for $10.00

How did you attach the ring to the board?
If you place the jars on round mirrors ( $1.00 or less depending on the size at most craft stores) they will illuminate even more,
Awesome idea Sis 💡 👏 👌 👍
They have those little mirror squares. Would that work?
Awesome idea thank you
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 hey thanks!
Great IDEAL!!! 😊 Thx
One year later...this is STILL one of the best Dollar Store "hack" videos EVER!
I literally walked around DT trying out the solar lights in various glass jars & re-listening to this video. I settled on the hanging light in silver & also plan to give those as gifts. Thank you putting this together.
So you pulled out all the little plastic things that keep the battery from dying ...
L
That's my plan exactly
Your definitely gonna get me some brownie points with the wife! Thank you for this video. New subscriber here 🙋♂️
THANK YOU!!!! I've made several cute lights to use as night lights for my bathrooms. I use several across each room & hang one from a closed door in the hall near my kids' room. I have a big flower pot on the front porch (in full sun), and each morning I walk around with a DT basket and collect the light portion. then I take them outside and put them back on the "stems" that have been planted in the pot. In the evening I go out and harvest my light crop, haha! The small crackled glass jars are also super cute with the light top in them. Thanks again!!!
This is awesome! I am so glad Angela!
I never would have thought to do such cool, artistic things with jars and solar lights from Dollar tree.
Pipe holder for electrical conduit fit the base perfectly. I have them on my wheelchair ramp
Great idea!
Love these ideas. I've been considering buying a bunch of these lights in case of power outages, but didn't like the way they would look sitting in my windows. With some of the bottle and jar ideas, you've solved this for me. Thank you!
Yes forward this viddie to texas who are expecting more power outages this year.
It is crazy how well these fit on every glass/vase/jar at DT.... its like they knew😳🤣
I just revisited this video for new inspiration. You totally turned me on to the Dollar Tree solar lights last year! I made the lights with dollar tree containers and the glass beads for our deck. My bed bound mother's bed looks out onto the deck, and she loved looking out at those at night :). Thank you for helping me add a little joy to my mom's life :)!
It's nice to see people sharing their successes, nice job.
Omg what I great video, I could not believe all those ideas wow. I don't see how people give thumbs down, it is genius. I guess no matter what you cannot make some people happy. I love the video.
Thank you!
Because it’s literally one “hack” just different jars
@@mmkay3296 are you one of the thumbs down, since you had the reason for them? She did more than put them in different jars. She had several different ideas of what to do with them, instead of just placing them on a table.
Some people give videos a thumbs down without watching or knowing what the videos about. They have nothing better to do.
Because they're dumb girlfriend. This vid took my backroom porch to whole different level Boop!
I’ve been trying to come up with an idea for table lighting for and evening outdoor event and this is exactly the inspiration I needed! Thank you!!
You just took a 1.00 item and turned it into a 7.00 item. Love these
I'm going to use the shower curtain hook to place several around the umbrella pole on the patio table...lights without taking up table space.
Another great idea x
Make sure they get enough light during the day. You will have to take them out of the rings and put them in the sunlight to charge.
Ohhhhh good idea!!!! I had some of those little twinkle solar lights and wanted to put them on my outdoor umbrella but couldn't figure out how to place the solar panel so that it could charge it regardless if the umbrella was open or closed....solved!!!! Thank you for this idea, can't wait to try it out!!!!!
I use the mason jars, and hang them at different levels all over the back yard.
This would look sweet if you attach a rope/string to the jars and hang them in a tree at different levels
What size mason jars? Thanks!
Not sure why this showed up in my feed.... But SSSSSOOOOO glad it did! Great Video!
Same!
Lol, me too!
The cutting board gave me an idea - what about using the Dollar Tree patterned metal serving trays instead of bamboo? It will magnify the light.
Oooo! The dollar tree silver party platter - great ideas here lol
I hot glued the shower hooks to trees at our cabin going down the very long driveway to show the curve and have the lights welcoming us. Love it!!
Love this
Add glow-in-the-dark pebbles (available at most craft stores) and they still glow after the solar light battery is dead for the night.
great idea :)
How long does the light part last at night?
wow didn't even realise you could purchase glow in the dark pebbles! such a great idea :)
Glow in the dark pebbles are available at Grocery Outlet.
@@notforthefaintcrafted9725 beware of the ‘shiny’ effect on small kids with the pebbles , mine gradually disappeared over time... I also then realised the lovely collection I now had of ‘diamonds’ my son had given to me when he came home from school had actually been decorating a neighbours pebbled area in front garden & he passed by twice a day when he walked to school! 🙈🙈🤣
OMG!! Never thought of doing this with the Dollar Tree Solar Lights. I use them often and they last for a long time. Now I can make them pretty and usable on any tabletop surface while out camping. Thank you for sharing those ideas.
I'm so glad you found these solar hacks useful! I think they could be so helpful for campers. Thank you for watching!
I'm looking for lighting ideas for my outdoor wedding reception and really like this! How long do the DT lights stay lit up?
Mval1219 Love the idea of using them for camping even if it’s just to set lights so you know where things are in the dark LOL
@@creationsfromthetable5291 oh and if you have a tent they -and the battery operated strings with leaves or flowers fit perfectly at the part at the top of the tent!
I love how there are so many different ways to decorate with solar lights. I've recently made stained glass solar lights. I just buy the solar stake lights and I take off the clear plastic parts and paint them with acrylic inks. Once they're completely dry, I put the lights back together and stick them in ground. I did green lights for the front yard but I'm thinking about doing blue for the back yard. It's a really fun project and it's worth it because I have pretty colors lighting up at night.
Oooooooo thank you I love this idea I love different color lights 😁
@@elizabethatherton5526 You're welcome.
The 3 foot tall light would be a great way to mark the mailbox in all this snow.
I've seen the solar lights in the Dollar Tree and thought they were useless...you proved me wrong, way wrong. 💵🌳💡 👌
The lights that Ive bought in the past have lasted for years. I love them.
If you add aluminum foil, the shiny side out, on The cutting board you can increase the light amount given off by the solar light.
LOL, I Just did that to some that are on my steps. Traced the back, did a little triming, glue, and bam!
@Beumadine Sweevy 🤣 Led lights are not Ultra Hot. Especially not these ones. You can use the Aluminum foil for a hat though!
@@davideinwechter5985 David, she wasnt doing that for temperature control it was for reflectivity. Derp.
@@TheWestlandgirl Derpp duh derp. My reply was to someone talking about heat. see my @. They must've deleted their comment. Derp.
@@davideinwechter5985 The phrases “”Conspiracy Theory!”, “Tin Foil Hat”, “Satanic Panic”, “False Memory Syndrome”, “You Must Live In Your Mother’s Basement”, “Don’t Breed”, “Seek Help”, “Take Your Meds”, “Put Down The Crack Pipe”, “Nutter”, blah, blah, blah are just very childish attempts at damage control by using tired, old, worn out Cointelpro and Tavistock phrases and tactics that are so last-century, (seriously, they’ve been around since Kennedy, and the tactics are as old as the hills), and no one is falling for it anymore. Anyone still using those phrases or childish mockery tactics either didn’t get the memo, or is one of them...same goes for all derogatory words. It shows either a lack of intellect, a lack of any real argument, or collusion and conspiracy with the perpetrators.
Wow, these are great ideas. I use these solar lights in our garden. I can not wait to try these crafts. Thanks.
Can I just say that when I hear you giggle I smile every time! It’s contagious 😍😍
So doing this shower curtain hooks, I have been wanting to put solar lights on my front porch and now you’ve just gave me the how. Thank you!
How do you attach the shower rings to wood like a fence or something?
How did the shower curtain rings attached to the board? Glue?
You have me looking at everything in my house saying "will you work, will you work?" They all say"Yes!"
Ruth Durham hahaha that's awesome.
I've been doing the exact same thing throughout the whole video 😅
Haha you were like me before this video - and there are so many household items and bottles they fit into as well! Thanks so much for watching!
Me too Ruth 😂😅
Ruth Durham LOL! That’s hilarious! But I’m so doing the same!
Loved this video so much that I took several photos so I can remember your clever combinations. My favorite was the shepherd hook with the glass with the wire hanger.
Omg I’ve watched this over and over I am obsessed with solar lights! I love all your ideas!! Thanks for sharing ❤️
I have huge back yard and very dark so I put a light at each post around my chain link fence. Stuck it in with the stake in-between the fence to hold. Its even with the post. They look like little lanterns all around the entire fence at night.
Great idea!
Wowieeee, those ideas are stinkin’ cute! Everyone you showed us was better and better!! Can’t wait to get out and get to DT!! Thank you for your brilliant ideas!
Blessings from a cold n windy NYC! 😘😷
Thank you so much Phyl!
Did u find these kites in nyc
Phyl T right? It is starting to warm up here in Michigan and I’m hoping to get to dollar tree sooner rather than later.
The outdoor jar on a hook is an excellent idea!!!
I forgot my passion for lighting, thank you for reminding me.
It worked!! The lights in the jar look beautiful in my yard. Thanks for the amazing hack. Keep'em coming.
I remember my mom used to brush on clear nail polish on the solar part so when it rained they didn’t damage. It worked, kuz she had those lights for I think 2 years or so
I wonder could you resin the top
La Cristal...great idea. Your mom was thinking like a boss.
Great idea! I bought one post cap light, and rain damaged the battery and inner parts.
Those lights are good forever and ever. Just change out the batteries.
Paragon wax cheap will water proof as well..
Necessity is the mother of invention, Very very cool, I am 70 years old I was a pipewelder for 30 years I love to tinker with things. This is too cool Love it⚘⚘⚘✌✌✌
Genius ideas!! I buy those lights at Walmart for 97 cents each, I use them on the top of my deck posts, but I love the colored glass vases with the light!
The hanging idea...mind blown! so cute and easy, will be using that this summer for sure
I have an old style chandelier that I have hung in a magnolia tree and I use these lights in it. It is beautiful.
What happens when it rains?
OMG, I have a chandelier hanging outside that we use the DollarTree tea lights, time for an upgrade!
I tried something similar, but the solar lights don't get enough sun, especially once the tree leaves grow in.
Or you can hang it lower to the ground but you'd bump your head on it.
I may move the chandelier to a sunnier location this year...
Oooh. LiCeky. I love Mag- nolias!
I did that as well 👍🏼
I love this hack video. I went with one of the first ones. The simple clear vase with the blue stones to accent our front door steps. Very cool! Thanks Sarah!
Those are so DUH, however, I had never thought of any of those ideas. That’s why I love your site, you think totally out of the box. You have such great ideas from the Dollar Tree, that never look like they are from there!!! AND I love your smile it’s very uplifting. 😊
Thank you. I love this! I had never seen any of these options and really like them. I’m so glad you showed how they look lit up at night.
Awesome ideas! I just bought a bunch of these for disaster prepping. When the power goes out, go pluck them out of the ground, bring inside and arrange in a vase like flowers for instant light. Your ideas of putting them in jars or skinny vases has my brain thinking of yet better ways to use them inside for power outages. Love these ideas! Thanks for sharing!!!
Emila Smith ooh, Great idea! Even for decor that would be cute!
Great minds think alike
how much light do they really put out?? can you actually see if they are outside or are they just cute? I also am disaster prepping, but also need to do some lighting on one side of my house..at night its pitch black you can not see anything but i cant afford to install regular lighting.
These are perfect for gravesides. I like to have light beside the flowers on my mother's grave. Makes it so pretty. 🙂
Wow - this is amazing! I can’t even decide which one I want to make! They are all great - and the fact that those things got in so many dollar tree vases/jars/bottles…..coincidence??? I need to watch the video a couple more times and try to choice one or two ideas, then make a trip to Dollar Tree. Woohoo! Love Dollar Tree!
I got my solar lights at the Tree and I’m starting to solar light up my life
Damnnnn I was just at DT yesterday wish I saw this before. I would have stocked up on the solar lights. How amazing. Never would have thought of this
I'm gonna try this idea with a wine bottle because I've made hobby lights in wine bottles as lamps and given them to friends and family. Thanks for the inspiration.
I am so impressed!!! I've just got done this evening spending the alot of money the last 2 days at Dollar Tree but now I can't wait to go back and try some of these solar lights!!!
We made hanging lights with Goodwill glass lampshades, but this opens a whole world of possibilities. Thx for sharing 🌷
A good emergency light for kids instead of a candle
@Beumadine Sweevy so does the sun but you don't look into it. YOUR RETINAS WILL BE OK
Great as a kid’s trick or treat safety light in the evening!
@Beumadine Sweevy use a translucent bottle like milk jug to encase the light. It softens the light
Yes, here in South Florida, I consider them an essential Hurricane supply!

Pure genius. Thank you and I am sharing to all my friends, ( after I have been to Dollar Tree and gotten mine!). Lol

For 3 cents less...the wasted gas makes the trip not worth it! 😆
I think she meant last resort Wal-Mart 😉 bc let's be honest who likes going in Wal-Mart? I have had some of my Dollar Tree solar lights for five years and thru 2 hurricanes.
