You can double the brightness of the light with a makeup compact mirror. Place the mirror in the bottom of the container. The light from above shines down onto the mirror and the glow becomes multiplied.

*VIDEO UPDATE:* Please don't throw away your old Dollar Tree solar lights, the battery inside them is replaceable. There is a single AAA NiCd 1.2V rechargeable battery inside each one and it can easily be accessed and replaced using a small screwdriver. (They sell a small screwdriver set at the Dollar Tree in the auto aisle.) Also, in the video, I mentioned using E6000 to glue the lights in place, but instead, I would recommend using hot glue or a semi-permanent glue, so you can access the battery when it dies. Thank you so much for watching!

THANK YOU!!!! I've made several cute lights to use as night lights for my bathrooms. I use several across each room & hang one from a closed door in the hall near my kids' room. I have a big flower pot on the front porch (in full sun), and each morning I walk around with a DT basket and collect the light portion. then I take them outside and put them back on the "stems" that have been planted in the pot. In the evening I go out and harvest my light crop, haha! The small crackled glass jars are also super cute with the light top in them. Thanks again!!!

I did green lights for the front yard but I'm thinking about doing blue for the back yard. It's a really fun project and it's worth it because I have pretty colors lighting up at night.

Awesome ideas! I just bought a bunch of these for disaster prepping. When the power goes out, go pluck them out of the ground, bring inside and arrange in a vase like flowers for instant light. Your ideas of putting them in jars or skinny vases has my brain thinking of yet better ways to use them inside for power outages. Love these ideas! Thanks for sharing!!!
