In chapter two of Made In Ireland, you'll have a front row seat for one of the biggest days of the year at Mullaghmore, and an inside look at the minds of the surfers who charge it.
Last week, we introduced you to the Torchbearers of Irish surfing, some of whom have been obsessed with riding Ireland’s cold yet world-class waves long before the spotlight ever turned toward the Emerald Isle. This week, in Episode Two of Made In Ireland, we’re zeroing in on Ireland’s maddest surfers - The Nutjobs - who are made up of a small, core group of friends who relish every opportunity to take on big-wave venues like Mullaghmore and Aileen’s.
Corker rode along with Irish big-wave pro Conor Maguire as he and the crew prepared for a massive session at Mullaghmore - a wave that Maguire remembered seeing from his home beach as a kid. It was, Maguire says, “kind of like the looming monster in the distance.” We promise you’ve never seen Mullaghmore - and the surfers who brave its crazy peaks - quite like this.

Hard as I try. I can't relate. I live on the north east coast Florida in the USA. It's quite warm during the summer with a water temp hovering around 82f. Air temp. 80f to high 90s. Gets a bit chilly during the winter. It looks brutal over there in the colder climates. And spooky! Much of the video looks foggy or rainy . Afraid I might meet Nessie !🏄🏝🇺🇸. 🐊🐊🐊famous for gators too!!!
Yeah it’s funny cuz as Irish people were told by our parents to go into that absolutely freezing water when we’re at the beach. But 10 minutes away there would be a fishing crew warning you of cold water shocking you causing you to drown.

MrAranhaman , most of them have.. but Nazare is an awful wave to surf compared to the heavy waves on Ireland's west coast.. they are looking at fat big barrels, Nazare is avalanche surfing ! my opinion..

What temperature would the water be there when most of these waves are this size ?
12-8°C water depending on time of year. Winter days Air temp below zero + windchill.
As an Irish surfer, I would wear a 5/4 mhm wetsuit, even at that once you get out your hands and feet are numb, and it depends on where you are for the size of the waves 🇮🇪
