Hakeem Olajuwon is the only player in NBA history to win a title without another All-star, finished top ten in FIVE statistical categories when he retired, is the most versatile player in NBA history and played during the golden era of big men and DOMINATED all of them. He's hands down the best center off all-time and is 100% a top ten all-time player.

Also, I've played with/against a ton of NBA player's and to a man they all said Kobe Bryant was the best dude they ever played against, including Jordan and James, though admittedly Jordan was old by then.

Kobe from 04-05 (Shaq left) to 09-10 (last title) led the regular season and postseason in scoring. He actual shot more efficiently than LeBron during this stretch, even though LeBron takes more efficient shots. Kobe led the 2000s decade in PPG. He has 11 All-NBA First Team selections and 9 All-NBA First Team Defense. Won three titles in a 3-peat and created one of the greatest duos ever in doing so. People delegitimized those titles and he went on to win 2 more without Shaq. Some great players never win one let alone win three and win another to to legitimize his first three titles. You can argue that Kobe started to decline after 2008 (he wasn’t as athletic and injuries were taking their toll), so he probably won two titles back-to-back and two Finals MVPs past his prime!

Kobe is getting hated on the media so much n is so disrespectful. To me it’s all about your impact & what is your impact? Like people say lebron makes his teammates bc he passes the ball. How important is assists in basketball? Steve Nash n Chris Paul never made it to the finals. Okay Majic did but it’s bc he had great players around him. Kobe was cold blooded scorer. He’d go into your house take over games drop 40 n then hate the game winner. Lebron is great don’t get me wrong but man the media amp him to much just bc he’s been a celeb since hs. Kobe was the ultimate competitor proved he can win with out Shaq better scorer than lebron and can take over games on his own and btw played in a tougher game conference with better players. And never played on a super team. Lebron got killed by KD in the finals & no one talks about that.

Billy Mitch having 2 of the 3 best players in the game on the same team from 00-04 qualifies as a super team especially considering what everyone else had.
Other top players in that span:
      Duncan had aging Robinson
Webber best teammate was White chocolate Bibby or Peja
Dirk had Nash (pre D’Antoni) and Michael Finley
      AI had Mutombo
Carter and McGrady made the playoffs one time together then played with trash
      Pierce had Antoine Walker
      Jason Kidd had Kenyon Martin
KG had Sprewell and Cassell for one good year
So yes the lakers were a super team when compared to other teams in that era.

    15) Stockton
The first 5 on my list were something special, very unique and all of them were leaders. All of them accomplished at least one thing that is completely unmatched 'til this day, all of them were extremely important for the league. MJ at 1 is no debate to me, LeBron doesn't slow down at all and is still the best player in the league, will have a longer career which puts him over Magic. Magic's championships and having the bigger impact as a leader puts him over Wilt in my opinion. Wilt has to be the next in line for being the most dominant player ever AND being extremely skilled besides being very tall. Bird would be at the very least lone number 5 if he stayed healthy. His shortened career leaves the door open for other exceptional players and I really don't wanna choose at 5 'cause you can make a legit argument for all of them:
Bird was arguably the most special player among those 4, the most clutch shooter in history and a fantastic leader who maxed out his talent. Kareem the all-time scoring leader, the skyhook and being a force for so many years on both ends. Bird got the edge in terms of leadership though and being the clear number 1 on his team which makes up for a shorter career to my mind.
Olajuwon to me is the greatest combination all-time of an amazing player who fits on ANY team. The perfect package of a two-way player, dominance, size, physicality, skills, leadership and versatility. A shame he's so underrated. Russell the greatest winner of all-time and to me also the greatest leader of all-time, a fantastic rebounder and defender. I know, Celtics were dominant those days but why? Russell beat Wilt on a regular basis, he won when he was young, he won when he was old, he won when his team was the underdog, he won when it looked like he couldn't win, he simply belongs up there.
Duncan and Kobe is the next couple I find difficult to pick one over the other. Kobe was more special individually but I give Duncan the edge as a factor on both ends of the floor for his entire career and I believe personalitywise Duncan would have brought success to any franchise, Kobe was way more difficult as a player and teammate which might have jeopardized winning 5 chips on a different team with a different coach. Being forced to choose, I'd put Kobe at 9 but I think a tie is fair here.
Couldn't stop at 10 guys for I believe Oscar and Jerry West deserve to be mentioned when you talk about the greatest of all-time.
Forget about pace, forget about the game back then, the simple fact that Oscar's triple-double record wasn't matched in the slightest for more than 50 years (!) shows you how much ahead of his time this guy played. He could do it all and I don't want to punish him for not being on one of the all-time great teams. Individually he belongs at 11 at the very least, not having him seen play I got the feeling I still rank him too low... Same goes for Jerry West, he was a genius as a shooter and shows until today what a genius of a basketball savant he is. With more championships both he and Oscar would be right up there with Kobe and Duncan.
Nowitzki: notoriously underrated, maybe the best teammate all-time, revolutionized the game, maxed out his talent like Bird did. Beating LeBron, DWade and Bosh in their prime with a team that neither had the star power nor were the stars it had in their prime themselves. Will end up 6th or 7th on the all-time scoring list, clutch player and a great leader by example. No doubt he'd have more rings if he wasn't as loyal as he is.
Shaq: Yes, many will disagree but I don't care. I agree you'd take Shaq over Nowitzki starting a franchise but I always found that a weak argument. I'm aware of Shaq's dominance but let's look into it: Shaq comes up short in terms of leadership compared to every single player mentioned above. He comes up short skillwise, didn't have the footwork, didn't have a lot of moves, couldn't shoot. He comes up short as a defender for his size, Kareem, Duncan, Russell, Olajuwon, Wilt - all of them were much better defensive players. Shaq wasn't a gifted passer either. He wasn't even an exceptional rebounder for his size. To finish it off he always had great players around him throughout his career, with every single championship. If you're not the clear leader on those teams, I can't weigh those championships nearly as heavy as Nowitzki's does for I got serious doubts Shaq would have won more or any if he'd stayed on Orlando which wasn't a bad team to begin with. To top it off, there were ways to slow down Shaq and reduce his impact as a dominant player tremendously: Rodman could, Olajuwon could, a team fouling him could. Not being a great passer left the option of double teams too so without Kobe and DWade I don't know how dominant we would remember Shaq and how many rings he'd have today. At the end of the day it's Shaq's size, his physical dominance, his ability to score and move in the paint what remains. Not enough for me to take him over the guys in front of him, please feel free to disagree.
Stockton: Isiah Thomas was my other option but man, Stockton was that good at both ends of the floor, had such a long career and was so difficult to play against. Couldn't disagree though to see Isiah in the top15. Steph got a long way to go to surpass these two but to my mind he's the next player who could.
Come throw some arguments at me why I'm wrong, always like to talk hoops. Cheers

Suspicious play in la kc game hill Hayward td. Hayward had calf injury, 4.6 speed to 4.2 speed of hill, man coverage, no safety help, 3 man rush. No nfl coordinator would have allowed that.

What is amazing about the lists I see are that if you look at it, most of these guys were freak athletes or physical freaks in size. What’s impressive is Kobe, magic, bird and Tim Duncan managed to make the list, despite not being the most athletically or physically gifted. They weren’t the tallest, fastest, strongest, biggest which shows how skilled they actually were.

Why do people think Pau gasol was some kind of God if he's so great why hasn't he been able to help another team get to the finals? Bynum is out of the league as well as Lamar Odom so where are all these basketball legends that kobe had on his team that supposedly helped him get his two rings? I don't understand how people can try and take credit away from kobe for winning a champion ring but ride lebron's sack for making it to the finals I didn't know we started counting failures as accomplishments good to know

I'll take Dream over Kobe, Shaq and Lebron. Dream single-handed took his team to the title in 1994. No one else on his team was ever an all star. The next year he repeated despite being the 6th seed in the West.

He doesn't get the credit where its due. He was the most dominant center in the age of centers. He had to take down Malone, Barkley, Shaq and Robinson in the 1995 playoffs, all in their primes with an aged Clyde Drexler. In 1994, he had to take down Barkley, Malone, and Ewing. Frustrating how nobody talks about how great of a player he was

Why do people rank players they’ve never seen play? I understand looking at the resumé of a player from the past and respecting it but you have to watch them with your own two eyes to really give a honest opinion. That’s why Nick Wright loses credibility when he talks Jordan vs LeBron.
