The long & high packed noodle is called 'silk' noodle or 'foochow' noodle, cooking method is similar like cooking an instant noodle. For birthdays or new born, eating these noodle (plus boiled eggs) traditionally marked as long life (because the noodle is made extremely long in length), and this specially requested & ready packed raw silk noodle is for special occasion example as an offering during praying at the Chinese temple. You can buy it in any supermarket around, located at the dry noodle section, packed in rolls (size of a palm). Usually i add one roll inside my chicken, carrot & corn soup, taste silky-soft and delicious. Some chinese restaurant/cafe sell it, ask for 'foochow noodle', they will show you the menu.

Malacca/Melaka...is indeed a famous, historical city! Even locals, do love it and take their kids to visit and learn about its past. Crudely, exoressed, Malacca had been invaded ( commercially and battle-field-style) by many foreigners ie Portuguese,Dutch,English,Bugus, Arabs and many others. Each , caused some form of impact to the locals and to prove a point, do make a visit to the Portuguese Settlement ( not too far from the city) and you will hear people speaking Portuguese! Complete with Portuguese cuisine! There is also a Locally fabricated Portuguese Galleon, docked near the ciry and you should enter it to see the history, from Portugal! Try the famous Round-Shaped Rice Ball that goes along with Chicken Rice! Only in Malacca, the rice is served Round!Go ahead, walk n enjoy and saviour the rich history! david Kampar.

long long ago, Malacca was a deep sea port. But due to silting, this port gradually became shallower and could no longer allow big ships to berth.
