Josh, your timing with this one is like just perfect for me as I'm still working out what to get.
I've got the RF 35mm 1.8 on the way (as per your recommendation in another one of your vids).
Mmm so many selections to choose from.
Thanks again for doing this. I'm writing this after only watching for 90 seconds.

So I ended buying the Meike VND adaptor based on your recommendation. Then like 2 days later I had a Canon 16-35 2.8 mki pretty much fall into my lap. I got the 16-35 for $400. I wasn’t sure about going with such an old EF lens, but it’s kind of a nice combo with the Meike! The IS in the R7 and the C70 are kind of getting the job done for the lack of IS on the lens. I’m looking forward to seeing some results beyond just doing test shots around the house.

this is a very on time video, as I have been looking to expand my lens kit and cater more towards what I need from the c70. Right now using EF glass with the speedbooster from metabones. I hardly hear anyone talk about that one and I havent had any color shift issues, and I dont see a ton of flaring. Great video though, I agree that its a beneficial struggle, since the C70 is such a flexible camera. As of now I think Ill probably stick with sigma glass to get the most bang for buck, or until I have enough projects that require me to invest in cinema glass.

Good stuff Josh! I owned the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/1.8 Lens a while back when I was shooting weddings and had two cameras on me and it really is awesome glass. As Dave was saying sharp as L glass, but not all the other bells and whistles... I also still own the EF 24-105mm f/4 OSS Lens which is still a fantastic beast. There are so many options out there via adapters these days, but I'm sure Canon will also be adding lots of native RF glass sooner than later ;) It's really nice to see the various solutions and options out there depending on your needs 👊

I'm using a combination of RF and EF on the Komodo. The RF glass is definitely better in every way, but yeah, the price tag is like buying cine lenses. The three RF lenses I currently own are the 50mm 1.2, 15-35 2.8, and the big boy 28-70 f2. I feel very covered with just those 3, but like you I would like a wider prime option. A well corrected 12mm with AF would be sweet.

  • @RayValdezPhotography

I love the sensor, too, though I'm finding myself going in kind of the opposite direction from you, Jesse: I'm in the process of selling off most of my EF lenses and replacing them with a few RF lenses and some third-party manual lenses. The RF lenses are so superior to me. In some cases, they make the EF versions look shabby IME. Case in point: We recently got the RF 24-70 f/2.8, and it just trashes the EF 24-70 ii f/2.8, which we've had for years. I can't even imagine putting the EF version back on a camera now.

Again I could be wrong, but maybe others can chip in with their experience.

I personally was not a big fan of the Sigma 18-35 F1.8 Art lens on the C70, as I was still getting too much vignetting on super 35mm mode. I already had the Sigma 18-35 paired to my GH5 with a Metabones 0.64 Ultra which did not vignette in video mode on the GH5, so it was free for me to try on the C70. I went with a Sigma 24-70 F2.8 DG for the C70. It hasn't been off the camera since, other than to put the 70-200 F2.8 II L for shits and giggles.

I'm finding it hard to pic a good lens for my R7 for video. My first thought it sigma 18-35, I already have a tamron 17-50 2.8 but I'm missing some Bokeh and low light. I thought about the Canon 24 1.8 IS, seems reasonable for a light prime. If sigma can get their 23mm 1.4 on RF mount that would be great

Ok so im about to pull the trigger on a C70, at the moment i own a RF 24-70 lens 2.8 which i purchased with my R6. For this to be a wide angle lens natively on the c70 at around 24mm i would get around 38.4mm striaght off the C70. In order to get full framish i need to use a 0.71 adapter with an EF lens 16 to 35 to get this is this correct?... So at the moment i dont have any other lens except the kits lens 24 to 105 that came with my R6. Theoretically, this means i should invest in a wide angle lens so to do this i need to purchase a adapter and a EF 16 -35 lens making it 10mm to 24.85 which is enough for me, but will cost me around 3580 AUD plus the adapter.
