- A lot has been written about the Grenadier and a lot of off road opinions have been shared, but few have come after hundreds of off road miles in some serious terrain. We drove our Grenadier in the NORRA Mexican 1000 Safari Class to see how it would handle the grueling Baja off road race course and share our highs and lows with you.

Congratulations on your Baja 1000 Race Finish. What an incredible adventure and all done in a stock Grenadier. Thanks for your detailed analysis of the Grenadier in it's element and what you did to get it race ready. It gives me confidence to just about take mine anywhere. Love the Shale Blue as that is what mine is too. Keep the Video's coming. DaBull
Thanks for watching. It was a ton of fun in some great terrain with an awesome group of people.
Love the audio response from the bumps on the road
Ya I think that spot surprised her a bit!
You're really having fun with your Grenadier now!
It was an amazing trip, so much fun.
What an adventure! I'm glad you're so happy with the Grenadier.
Subscribed! Passed by for the Grenadier... excellent reviews on and off-road. Loved it. Wanted offroaders' perspective after watching the official documentary. Rants about the steering left me numb 😂 it is a marvel of engineering specializing in OFFroad, meaning even gravel road does not count as off-road so much it is capable. Offroaders, adventurers overlanding, enthusiasts, hipsters of the month, weekenders, nature lovers, Land-rover owners, G Wagon owners, Jeep owners, Ram owners are all going to love it. Greeting from France 🇫🇷
Thanks for checking out the channel. Yes we are having a lot of fun with it so far and look forward to getting the issues sorted and back to the trails soon! Bonne journée.
Awesome video! I am glad we met you guys on the trail! That was a great adventure.
Likewise and thanks for the led on transport! The truck hit SD last Thursday late in the day. We are still waiting to see what the problem is.
Love the video - it was nice to see you push your machine and enjoying the experience. Who knew there is a Baja 1000 for stock vehicles... Great fun, Thank you
Also, I hope it's just bad fuel - was all the towing back to Mossey warranty covered?
@@bobbyheskett I suspect there is no warranty coverage for the towing as the roadside assistance is only US and Canada, however the Mexican insurance policy we had will offset some of the cost. This one fits, unexpectedly, into the "gotta pay to play" category I think!
Thanks. Very useful information.
Thanks for checking out the channel.
This is great! I was in San Jose Del Cabo when you finished and love to see the Grenadiers as I have one in California! what a great treat it was to watch your experience.
That is awesome, thanks for dropping by the channel!
What a cool trip! Other than the vehicle damage. Thanks for sharing brother
Thanks for dropping by.
Amazing vid. ❤
Great overall video...keep them coming! I have a Grenadier on order with an ETA of October.
Awesome! Thanks for checking out the channel.
great video- looked like a good time-
We had a ton of fun. Thanks for checking out the channel.
I love the great video. We love our Grenadier. Ours is Scottish White and Diesel, which is now 22,000 Australian miles in 4 months!!!
Sounds like you are getting some great use out of yours-enjoy it and thanks for watching!
Awesome video, great experience for you two. I hope the problem is an easy fix.
Fingers crossed
Here in Australia we are doing a 40mm lift and fitting 34 inch tires. If you fit the 40mm lift it’s springs only and the shocks are fine nothing needs to be changed. The reason for 34s as apposed to 35s is that the tire blocks you from opening the rear door with your tire mounted on the rear door. Of course we have the option of the diesel engine and I think is a far superior engine for off-road with more torque. Ive just ordered a Quartermaster. Cheers and thanks for the video.
I have been watching any reviews of the Eibach lift to see what the opinion is. I like the idea of minimal lift and am hoping to retain tires that are readily available internationally. I have also seen a company that manufactures a spare tire offset mount that allows for mounting of a 35 while allowing the doors to work. It is great to see the aftermarket picking up steam.
@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609just keep it stock. It can do everything anyone would want to do out of the box, except maybe the rubicon. You’ll retain factory reliability and more importantly: comfort!
Nice video highliting the Grenadier’s strengths. I am a rockcrawler at heart, but living where I do, that type of terrain is a bit thin on the ground, and in my advancing years, overland touring has an increasing appeal, so the Grenadier could certainly make the shortlist of possible vehicles to choose from albeit as a used vehicle purchase.
It really is built like a tank and with, what i am sure will be coming, some amount of lift it has all the right running gear to do the rocks with the best of them. It is a great platform right from the start though and one could travel the world in stock form no doubt.
What an Amazing trip y'all got to experience!! Super excited for you both!! That's quite the road course!! What was your feeling when you crossed the finish line? Cheers!! J & C
Those cervezas tasted the best of the whole trip!
Great video! The bumper damage was pretty heart wrenching but good to see the vehicle can take a hit and with a little repair work be up and running again. Hoping the no-start issue is minor and looking forward to next video!
Thanks for watching-ya the bumper turned into one of those classic Baja stories that will be told around a fire for a long time I am sure.
@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609Did you drive it to the first recovery point or was it flat towed?
Without the oil cooler in such a vulnerable place, I doubt it would have warranted more than a tap with a hammer and a brief comment - like the wheel.
Looking forward to someone coming up with a kit to relocate them both.
@@stevegreen101 Agreed. I was saying it would have been better to mount the cooler in a more protected place and run some air duct from the bumper.
@@stevegreen101 We were able to bypass the TC cooler with a socket, some hose clamps and a few zip ties which got us to the machine shop where they were able to put in a more robust fix. It was the no start after the finish line that ended up requiring the flat bed, first to the hotel that night and next morning to the transport companies loading dock.
Very nice Video and an exciting adventure. My Grenadier will be delivered on Monday 20th May. Looking forward to it.
I need some help on how did you fix the Radio on your vehicle, how did you root the antenna. I think the problem of your vehicle is related to bad fuel.
Congrats on the upcoming addition! Since the radio was not a permanent install, although this would work, we used heavy duty velcro to affix the radio under the seat and ran the power from the rear seat battery box, The antenna was magnetic mount and I simply ran the cable through the rear door seal and along the side of the rear compartment. If it had been permanent I would have found a more appropriate routing through some of the panels. Depending on radio type I am a fan of the units that have the controls in the mic and the main body mounted somewhere out of the way.
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-road? we're looking forward to doing some sponsorship with you!
Man, this is such a cool experience except for the ford on fire, that sucks. Hopefully, it’s just bad fuel
It really was a bucket list item for me and the NORRA Safari turned out to be a wonderful way to check that box!
It probably was bad fuel. If it sat overnight the water and crap probably settled. It could have and probably did happen to others. Great video.
That is what I am thinking as well, something settled while it sat. We will know soon enough I hope since it has now reached the dealership. I would hope that, if it is some water, there is a fix INEOS could implement to prevent something like this but I don't know.
@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609There's an additional fuel filter available for the petrol engine. It's offered on UK vehicles for £175 but not offered on US vehicles oddly.
Could you tell me there’s any problems on grenadier? It was Just bad gas power?
Still awaiting the results from the dealership-it sounds like the engine not getting fuel but I have not heard the cause yet.
@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 Thank you for your response. I hope it's not an engine issue.
@@pswkkk For sure, that would really ruin the day!
curious how it ran on the non high octane fuel?
For the most part we were able to find premium fuel. For the few times we had to put in 87 octane (US) I really didn't notice any difference but I assume the ecm detuned the engine a bit.
Super happy for you all that the cartels didn't get you 😜
We are pretty happy they didn't either!
Everyone is pretty much doing a lift and 35s out the gate. While Baja trails are stupid easy, the long time on trail does take its toll. But what everyone misses is how insanely over built the Grenadier is with all one ton running gear. You are just not going to break. I believe it will make an awesome rock crawler as well. The electronics however are poorly sorted out unfortunately. Upgraded suspension stuff will keep coming out.
Yep for the most part I think you are dead right, not the most challenging technical trails but relentless in their ability over many miles to take their toll. They offered such a great variety of terrain and surfaces as well so you weren't doing the same thing every day and it allowed us to see how the Grenadier performed in different environments.
