Great short video analysis on how multi-cap funds are marginally better than flexi-cap funds.
I find that however, more time is required to be given to these Flexi Cap funds to perform, given that they are relatively newer in the market. Only 3 years since its inception.
Multi-cap funds are performing a little better given that these funds are experiencing a bull run growth of the small-cap companies. Since all small caps portray a high-risk and high-reward situation.
Multi Cap funds might prove to be a little riskier in the long run, once the bull run settles, because of the hard 25% bracket for Small-cap equities.

Very well explained.. I wish you could have spent some more time on this topic because there is always a confusion in the minds of investors whether to opt for a flexi cap or a multi cap fund..You could have always added a bit on the conditions for having an international exposure under both the schemes..
Structurally, flexi cap looks better because it gives a complete freedom to the fund manager... But in order to achieve the desired results the fund manager needs to be smart, flexible and visionary..
Unfortunately the records tell the story otherwise ie flexi caps have delivered below par returns as compared to multi caps.

Thank you for this video. Your voice echoes my thoughts. Most Flexicap fund managers are just large cap index huggers so the multicap would definitely make them come out of their comfort zone.

I think those who are building new portfolio Multicap funds are good as it creates good allocation between large mid and small ..... flexicap is simply a lrage cap fund with different name we have not seen rapid switching of market caps as everyone talks about flexibility and go anywhere but its always been large cap only

true test of returns is when market goes down. there are very few buyers of small cap and mid cap company stocks when they go down. Also liquidity of small cap stocks are not good. flexicap will give the fund manager at least the flexibility to move to large cap when market turns negative.

Should avoid multicap funds as it cripples the movement of fund manager. If anyone wants more mid, small cap, it can be done separately. Why to accept forced constraints? In bear market this will backfire.

And generates more returns when climbing back. People who are young and not afraid to see volatility should have a mix of everything. A portfolio with two large cap biased flexi cap and two multicaps will have more stability alongside returns generation l@@dibbyo456

Multi Caps are riskier than Flexi Caps as they need to have at least 25% each in Mid and Small caps at all times. So forced diversification comes at bit more risk.

What do you mean by the word risk? Volatility does not mean the risk of loosing capital permanently.

What if I invest in a Flexi Cap fund, Multi cap fund, 2 Mid cap Funds, 2 Small cap funds and a Multi Asset Allocation fund? Can this combination work for a wealth creation? Need your inputs please.

If your amount is invested in a single amc breaches your comfort level then you can stop.
If your debt equity asset allocation becomes skewed towards equity then you can stop.
If you achieved the target amount then you can stop.
If you are not happy with its performance then you can stop.
Otherwise don't make a decision over speculation about what will happen tomorrow, or the fund manager is doing as you don't have any control over it. Backseat driving is not that helpful.
