In this video we make our way from Hong Kong to Shanghai in China, however this was definitely the most stressful part of our trip... When we arrive in Shanghai we also get to the ride the fastest train in the world before using the subway system to travel to Shanghai Disney Resort!

Such dedication once again , knowing it ended in stress made it painful to watch at times as you were saying its all going to plan etc, then the screens issue but the 144 was always likely to be the problem. Was good to see you looking relieved on the 301km train and at the hotel, it's been a great journey to follow

Went to Shanghai 7 years ago too. Same thing ... Didn't know what was going on. Found a British business man standing nonechalont behind immigration, so stood by him. He acted like was usual. But then I got escorted away because they made a mistake on my passport and had to have another desk correct it
Stressful? Yeah. And believe me that's the usual level of anxiety most everywhere I always get, solo and not vlogging.
But made it. 😅

Shaun I had to laugh when u said the white board was like being back at school. When I was at school it was a blackboard and chalk. 😂I’m really surprised that every where is cash only knowing from, friends who come from Hong Kong how strict they are with people coming in and out.

And those trains were built at Washwood Heath in Birmingham (the same place that built the Pendolino trains to and from London); they were modified with the Mickey windows!

Wow what a trip. I went to the other theme park in Hong Kong. But Disney Park looked good, the ppl of HK do not like the park.... reason for low ppl from HK. I hope that enjoyed seeing all the Disney parks. And you get some rest went you get home to get ready for your big day. Thanks for the great trip around all the parks.

10:56 Looks like the Greyhound Bus Station. Not only they used a whiteboard, they actually didn't have a digital board. They just printed out a list of major destinations and it is only showed the schedule time of arrival and departure, but they put it in a picture frame for their bus terminals. Don't think about riding Greyhound on USA trips. They operations are much worse coming out of the pandemic in the US. Greyhound is even worse than Amtrak and you know how much of a bad experience we had on Amtrak.

Wow you sure do get about you two! Laundry tip that I’ve learnt along the way. Charlotte talked about whites not staying white. Wash whites and lights using powder only (no liquid or tab detergent) because powder contains lightning agents to keep whites white. Add half a scoop of vanish gold and your whites and lights stay bright.
Darks you should always wash with liquid specifically colour care variant.

I’ve enjoyed living vicariously through you guys for the past few weeks :-) apologies if you already answered this in a previous video, but I’m curious as to your decision to travel with backpacks instead of suitcases. Would you be able to elaborate a bit on it in an upcoming video? Is it simply the idea of having to travel between so many locations only staying for a day or two in each one makes it impractical to lug a big suitcase around? And how did you decide what to take to have everything you need but still fit into relatively small backpacks?

Well that's put me off going to shanghai .My husband wants to do the Asian parks next year but I'm a bit dubious, I would be OK in Hong Kong as we have been before, Tokyo should be OK hubby has been to Japan before but I'm sitting on the fence for shanghai especially as we getting on 62 and 68.That cable car you could see was on lantu island and takes you upto the Tian Tan Buddha, worth a visit just avoid the cows and dogs, great views from cable car
We didn’t have the best time getting into Shanghai, however I’d still recommend a visit to Shanghai Disneyland.
Sounded really stressful but happy you both made it to the Disney resort ok for Charlotte's final disney park. Looking forward to the vlogs x

i am always one for cheap travel on holidays, though with the disney HK hotels, they are around £18-£20 for a taxi from the airport, which was only a little bit more than 2 train fares to same place - which were around £16-£17 all in. And handy if you are arriving after say a long flight from the UK and tired!
Entering shanghai and worrying about 144hour visas etc was also the most stressful part of my asia 3 park holiday. but was fine in the end.

@@ThemeParkWorldwide yes true! good to show all the options and how easy it is for fellow travellers. We used the metro to go into HK one day and enjoyed how easy it all was - but yes you need CASH to get tickets and we had issues finding an ATM at the subway station for our return from HK to Sunny bay one day.

Last time i went through there i had the same experience. I thought they wouldn't let me in at all and just had to trust it would eventually work out while they discussed my fate for ages. I found out later there was normally a separate line but that it closes quite early.

300 Kph is 186 Mph, Transrapid used to operate at 268 Mph but I think at higher speeds it needs more power. Still looks like an epic experience though!

The airports in Asian cities are large and modern, such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.

Luckily we made it to the hotel and everything was fine in the end!
The shanghai maglev is so weird, it only USED to be the fastest operating train in the world when it hit 431kph, but since 2021 it only goes 300 which is slower than a lot of high speed traditional rail (france's TGV 320kph, Italy's Frecciarossa 1000 400kph)
Hopefully it’ll be back up to top speed again soon!
The Shanghai Transrapid's major flaw compared to the Japanese high speed maglev, is that Transrapid depends on there always being power available to actively keep the train levitated.
The Japanese one doesn't need power to stay afloat, and has a retractable wheel that is presumably fail safe, so the train won't loudly scrape the guideway in the event of power loss.
Thankfully, roller coaster propulsion provides a usefulo going testbed for the linear motor aspect of maglev transport 😁

@@ThemeParkWorldwide In a few years there will be more. The Original Disneyland will have a third park there. They announced it a few weeks ago. So they will have to do a lot of building for quite a few years.

Try Guangzhou next time at least they are quick and efficient. It’s just kinda annoying if you come from hong Kong into Guangzhou as you need a separate passport for that. It’s just a mess of people making things complicated.

For being Shanghai's modern airport, they would have enough room to split the normal visa from the 144 Visa. Then again, I guess 25 is on the older end for an airport but they tend to rehab themselves every decade or so. Also being China, you would think things would be standardized to a T like their metro specs

That´s weird to hear about Shanghai, when I landed there in 2023 I just went to the 144hr desk and they didn't take anything. All done right there.
We did that in Beijing earlier in the trip, but it wasn’t like that here for us. Very strange!
It wouldn't bother me having my passport taken away from me temporarily, simply because i would think to myself that haven't broken any laws or immigration rules in China so they can't arrest you.
And if they do arrest you it will probably be an unlawful arrest.
I do NOT like the Police State system that they have in place in China.
It's a serious violation of the human right to privacy.
It's for that reason alone i will probably never ever go to China from the UK.
I will just go on holiday somewhere else that isn't a Police State.
Luckily all was fine in the end and we make it into Shanghai!
