Where you based? I'm from SA as well - Jozi based. The independent scene has a lotta cool bands that do shows often. Saw Club Valley and Internet girl live not too long ago (shits amazing) and Twenty one children is always doing gigs.
@@lunathikondlo6554 Stellenbosch. Best gig I've seen was from a Radiohead cover band a few years ago but it's mostly pretty dull blues bands here. Glad to see another SA King Krule fan though!

@@LouSmith Don't Matter is actually Pink Shell. He just interpolated don't matter for the extended intro. Previously he would just improvise lyrics like "this place is hell" or "i made a pink shell for you"

I try to get as close to the action as possible to get as immersive an experience as I can. I had to stand in this spot for over an hour before KK's set just so I'd get these shots. Glad you noticed. 😀

Amazing to see him play in such a small venue I’ve stepped foot in so many times! The saxophone player brought some great energy, it reminded me of Andrew Fearn from Sleaford Mods. Thanks for capturing this (and everything), Lou!
🙏 yes it was a great, intimate set. So hot and sweaty too. My camera had a big overheating warning, and the screen was burning my nose when I used the viewfinder. Chunks of the video were filmed with the lcd panel and viewfinder switched off to prevent shutdown, so couldn’t even see what I was shooting. You can barely notice though so my muscle memory must be working. Sax man was great.
Archy feels like he should be way more celebrated and critically acclaimed than he his. He is easily one of the greatest songwriters of his generation
I think he is pretty critically acclaimed isn’t he? He’s got an enormous following. He’s just not totally of the mainstream, and doesn’t seem to court celebrity status, so he’s just in good groove doin fine it seems. He does write beautiful songs though.

Indeed you do. I was nervous when I saw that queue even though I had an invite. Still had to find a spot at the front and hold it for the 40 mins prior.

I just saw them at Glasto and it was unreal. I wanna know how people find out about shows like this as it's the kinda thing I'd see for all artists. If someone could let me know how they found out that would be great!!
Drummer posted it on his instagram story and the two support acts did too. I found out about an hour and a half before it started
I guess it varies from band to band. I'm lucky enough that people request my presence at these events either as artists, promotors or bookers, so that's something I'm very grateful for. You have to live close, and move fast for most other ways in.
