Maybe he is now "popular" in mainstream media but he has been respected in the comedy circle for a long time. He is his own person and he is very talented.

Seth is so respectful when talking about Pete & Ari's relationship by speaking about them so normally. Like he has known Pete for a very long time and genuinely asks him about his pet pig with his girlfriend without any pretentious reasons.

The fact that Seth has to be careful when talking about Ariana proves that it is the elephant in the room that everyone is actively avoiding. That the reason that he was famous is bcs he's dating Ariana. If he has any other reason for being famous everyone would be like "HEY U DATING ARIANA WOW" bcs it wouldn't be offensive.

Aquarian Beauty I think what he means is that Pete's comedy and appeal is that he's not a groomed, prim and proper celebrity and that he's just like everybody else, that was part of his charm. but now that he's engaged to a high profile celebrity, that changes things in the eyes of the public. it's more obvious now that he's not "just like us" anymore since he's engaged to a celebrity whereas the average person isn't. i don't 100% agree with it, but it could be part of the case. i just think unfunny, easily offended people are now paying more attention to him and judging him for his bold jokes
