(English) NO Durood or Salah Ibrahimia (صلي الله عليه وسلم) for Nabi Muhammad. Talk based on AlQuran

  • It is 'said' that we must say صلي الله عليه وسلم whenever we mention the name Muhammad. Or in English 'peace be upon him'.
Or recite 'Al-Salah Al-Ibrahimiya' in the 'ritual prayers'.
This is NOT what Islam requires.
Presentation based on the Quran and nothing else.

My family is Muslim in the western world and I recently wanted to get closer to Allah and be a better Muslim so I started to read the Quran and looked into learning how to pray… I enjoy reading the Quran and I’m still reading it slowly but surely however I had hit a huge blocker in learning the prayer… particularly this Ibrahimi salawat.. I couldn’t understand why it was there especially since you’re giving preference to one prophet over others and Allah says not to this. I have not been found any clear explanation that my mind can accept.. thank you so much for this series. I feel like so much has been clarified and makes more sense.. please continue making these videos. Much appreciated from 🇨🇦

Salamun Alaikum brother Al Moses. Thank you for you effort to revive the Quranic Islam. Well done as always. Some of the questions I have regarding today's topic are: what is the purpose of wishing someone good/peace/blessings whether the person is dead or alive? Why do we say Salamun Alaikum or assalamualaikum? Would it be ok if we modify the current durood and just wish good for the prophet or anyone ? Why and how we make dua for our fore fathers? In the Quran Allah mentioned Salamun Ibrahim or other prophets name. What is the purpose of that? Can we say Salamun Alaihe after mentioning a prophet' s nam and why? Please next time you talk about Salah consider the following 2 ayat. Thank you very much.
    62.9 and 4:102

      Salamun alaikum brother,
Wishing good for others from the beginning of a meeting promotes societal well being--the specific form of it doesn't matter.
We can add titles / suffixes / prefixes for anyone; just can't claim to speak on the behalf of the Divine if He didn't order that

The salawat in familiar with wishes peace and blessings on the prophet and on the family and followers of Muhammad, and mentions the family and followers of Ibrahim, which I took as a type of dhkr that recognizes a familiar and lineal relationship between the believers via the line of Ibrahim, down to the seal of the prophets (Muhammad). Though I see no issue in Muslims wishing peace on any of the prophets out of love.

Salam everyone, a couple thoughts about the subject:
    1. They call it “salat Ibrahimia”, is it a salat inside the salat?!
    2. If we were to follow the tradition asking us to do salat and salam upon the prophet, shouldn’t we be saying: ousalli wa ousallim ala annabiy? Instead of asking Allah to do it when at the same time we say He did!! Isn’t it illogical? …
Out of this topic is the use of “Allahumma”, I don’t use this term anymore, it only appear 5 times in the Quran (if I’m not mistaken) and somehow doesn’t sound grammatically as a prayer or a request. What’s your take on this brother Moussa?
    Thank you!

Questioning this makes sense but I do think the point about darood shariff on why are we saying this when it has already been said that God has blessed the prophet, is a weak one. Practically everything we do in mainstream salah is repeated. Remembrance itself, seeking forgiveness etc.

    The problem lies elsewhere.
People in favour of Hadiths believe that the Hadiths ( Bukhari-Muslims & others ) are revelations from Allah but they are not recited and so are not in the Quran. The second is that Quran does not elaborate on everything it has revealed in the form of Ayats and so the Messenger himself took the duty on behalf of Allah to elaborate those practices in the Deen. The Third is that people submit to the Messengers in the belief that no person will enter Janna without being interceded by the Messenger and so following the Hadiths mean to them obeying the Messenger .

    Salaam my dear brother,
May Allah bless you and your family.
Saying the words "Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammad" does not make any sense especially when considering the CONTEXT of verse 33:56! If Allah and His angels are already doing 'yusalloona' on the prophet, then why would I ask Allah to do so when He (Allah) is already doing this and demands us to do it??
Here's an example: imagine I work in a company and told one of my workers the following: "John and I will be attending a meeting at 2pm. Hey Susan, you come to the meeting as well". But Susan says: "Oh Nej, go to the 2pm meeting". But I'm already going to the meeting and I want you to come! But Susan persists on pushing this back onto me! Do you see the problem here??
Also given the fact that prophet Muhammad (a.s) also did "Salawat" (verse 9:99) and "Salli" (verse 9:103) onto the believers! So, how did Muhammad (a.s) do 'Salawat' or 'Salli' for the believers? Did he sit in the mosque all day chanting "Allahumma salli ala Abu Bakr", "Allahumma salli ala Umar", "Salloo ala Uthman", "Salloo ala Bilal, etc???
I think the best way to translate "Salat" or "yusallee" or ''yusalloo" is to make CONTACT or CONNECTION. This makes perfect sense and is consistent throughout the Qur'an.
Therefore, when Allah and His angels do 'yasalloo' onto the prophet (verse 33:56), we can say that Allah and His Angels make CONTACT or CONNECT with the prophet. And the context makes it so clear that it's talking about protecting the honour of the prophet. If I was to say: "I am well CONNECTED to this community". That would mean that I am supported, embraced, honoured, respected, protected, etc.
Great work brother and may Allah continue to bless you and give us all the wisdom to understand the Qur'an.
    Peace 🙂

The only change in the ritual prayers about the application of the duty of SALLOO ALAIHI ( support and help him) is to pray to God that He and His ( powers) May support and help us, the followers of Muhammad AS in preaching the Quran just as He and His Powers supported Muhammad AS and his followers in the past, because Muhammad AS is not alive now just in the past the Muslims prayed to God to support Abraham and his followers. In 33:41,42,43 also we find that God has ordered the believers to remember Allah ( His guidance given in the Quran) very much and remain busy in working on His Instructions by obeying them early and late. It is He Who and His Powers support and help the believers in bringing people from darkness to light. ( ignorance to knowledge of the Quran). So the believers should keep themselves busy in remembering the guidance given by God in the Quran very much and bring all others from ignorance to the knowledge of the Quran by preaching it, and seed support and help of God and His Powers. This silent pray can be performed in one’s mother tongue.

Dr.AlMoses is completely wrong in telling us the meaning of SALLI ALA as connection between two entities for which he did not give any proof of his meaning from a good dictionary of the Quran and not given any example of the meaning he has told us in use of the words in the verses of the Quran. The root of the words is SA LA OO meaning to follow something continuously and with the use of A’LAA after it, the meaning changes the meaning as “following someone continuously to support and help him in his absence too like someone supporting him from above ( God and His Malaaika( powers that work for Him). Hence, in 33:56 we find God said to the believers,” Certainly, Allah ( The only One Ruler of the creatures) and His Powers ( which work for Him) approve and support ( the duty of preaching the Quran) of the Prophet ( by following him from above)( YUSALLI ALAA). O those who have believed in the Quran, approve and support him in his absence too, and obey him devotedly.( SALLOO ALAIHI WA SALLAMO TASLEEMA)( blessing is not a suitable word here).
