- Congratulations to Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark on winning the 2023 Tour de France for the second year in a row. With this title, Jonas becomes the first Danish rider to win the Tour de France twice, surpassing Bjarne Riis, who won back in 1996. As Vingegaard and Jumbo-Visma celebrate deep into the Parisian night, we ask the question...how did Jonas Vingegaard win the Tour de France?

These two riders are just insane. They are by far the best climbers, but to also take minutes on everyone else on a 30 minute TT is just Mental.
I think you could argue for Vingo to be the best climber, but he’s more well-rounded than that to call him a climber haha.
I wouldn’t call Pog a climber though, he’s an attacker
It's doping when someone you don't like wins. It's skill and hard work when someone you root for wins. Such a shame Pogacar's fanboys act so different than Pogacar. Great tour from Vingegaard and TJV. Congrats to the back 2 back champion.
It's suspicious when two riders appear to be so far ahead of the rest. Or when somebody climbs like a mountain goat and is still able to win sprint finishes.
It is also possible to enjoy the sport and the competition while acknowledging that doping is likely taking place. I had a lot of fun watching the likes of Pantani and we all know how they did it.
VingegaarDope and ePogacar, good that wasnt it 😂😂 will never be a clean sport and never has been, everyone is on the 🥤at top level, Yates brother's fan boy here by the way, and no I dont think there clean neither but still what a tour it was
The whole peleton dopes, Just not on banned substanced (yet)..
But yeah. Totally agree with you
They are using Pogacar’s success and personal charm as ammunition to bully his opponents, real class.
@@Strategic_wins well written thank you!
Sepp Kuss is one of the main reasons Jumbo got their pink and yellow jerseys this year - dude should be allowed to wear a Peach jersey all year for his effort
The best help rider in the mountains in the world. But he didnt have Roglic.
And Tadej had Bjerg to a team aswell. In they end it all depends on the individual rider and this year Jonas was the best.
All of JV is good and damn Sepp is ggoooooood
van Hooydonck and van Barle are the reel unsong heroes
@@henriksylvestolsen4885 yes in 2023 TDF, Sepp didn't do much work for Vingegaard. TDF 2022 was a different story
Was routing for all the riders to be honest. Great tour, very much enjoyed all of it. 👏
A terrific overview of the Tour...wonderful
Stages 16, 17 defined the winner, Stage 20 was a charity donation from Vingegaard and Stage 21 was celebration time
Well said 🤣
Haha, donation from Vinge..Pogacar beat him in more climbs, even injured, not training, not ketamin..ou,sry ketone and no red blood cells out of norm, not mountain training camp, like you need to do before biggest, hardest big Tour.. only think I like ,even more than JV team was ..our team, this time:Adam Yates was perfect (co leader, hm),Großschartner,Majka,Bjerg(flat),Soler(a little),Trentin(flat)&Laengen(??!?)half were good..Good think was WVA waited a baby and was unfocused, not at full power like last year..Sepp opposite-again were of first climbs groups, etc.Anyway,I hope both rivals to be OK,Roglic also,Ineos and may be Trek,EF..2024"hope for best TdF
Jonas is the type of man who would stop cycling if he had to use doping. Jonas Vingegaard is and will forever be the 🐐 of 2022 and 23 Tour de France, and uuhhhh hvor er det fedt. TILLYKKE JONAS 🇩🇰☮️🙏
The fact Pogacar went from training in his kitchen to being second in the Tour is pretty impressive. Well done to Vingegaard and I’m looking forward to next year.
Good video and another great round of grand tour coverage from you guys. Thanks for your effort in all of this.
Excellent recap Ewan! Great post!
Great upload Ewan, looking forward to your commentary in Spain.
Great briefing on the tour.
Great video thank you.
Another great video by you❤ where can we find the polka dot jersey contest winner?
I dont mind the TJV team and a fan of Wally van Aert, Sepp and Primoz so im glad Jonas V won. I cant warm to the Pog and the UAE team as a whole.
Same, I do like his interviews but when someone is as successful as Pogi it's hard to really enjoy watching them win again and again
Great recap, ty
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you, merci!!
I’m a big Pogi fan, but I think Jonas is a better GC rider, currently anyway.
Both are super talents but Jonas has a skill set more suited to the tour. For example, he’s better on the long hot high altitude climbs, which usually decide the tour.
Pogi will always beat Jonas in a flat sprint and explosive power but as we saw this year and last year, that’s not enough.
I think for Pogi to beat Jonas next year he needs to cut back some of the spring classic races and do more prep for the tour. Jonas does not do any one day races, he is completely focussed on the tour and only does the GC races. That’s part of what makes him so tough to beat in the tour.
I think Pogi is the stronger rider all things equal bar none. His versatility has been demonstrated before against Jonas. That’s not to take anything away from Jonas as he is a physiological marvel as well, however Pogi is something truly one in a 100 million physiologically due to his recovery rate.
Jonas did do the Dauphine this year
@@dadedraak true, but that’s my point. The Dauphiné is GC stage race used mostly as a prep for the tour. That’s why Jonas raced it, to test his form and prep for the tour.
Pogacar aparently has a vo2 max of 89 , but JV has an incredible 97 vo2 max . That says it all. At a final punch sprint TP will beat JV 9/10. But JV gets better during a 3 week Tour , while TP gets vulnerable the last week
At TJV it was very clear : the TJV workers have to keep the pace high and hard in the first 2 weeks , so TP will deteriate in the last week when JV has to do the damage to TP
And so it happened.
JV has little chance to win in a one day race ...
But over 3 weeks , with a good team , he is likely to win over Pogy .
@@lws7394 totally agree with you on that
@@lws7394Jonas himself has said that from the first to second week of a grand tour, he improves a little bit. From the second to third week he is able to then maintain his level, whereas the other GC contenders probably fade and begin to feel the fatigue
Awesome stuff love the 2 wheels 🚲
Crazy that he took the jersey on Stage 5 and just kept it. I wonder how things could have changed if Tade took the Yellow on stage 5
Jonas ,king of the road, congratulations
I always saw Jonas with team mates or with team mates up the road when it was getting hard but never saw the same with pogacar
Been the story for the last 2 TdF
then u did not see much of the tour, UAE had a great team this year. Majka and Yates was doing a great job. Adam Yates even came third
Maybe you should have stayed awake in front of the telly. Yates, Majka and Soler were with Pogi till the mano o mano finishes.
🥰 Jonas
❤seeing the Jumbo Visma Gladiators race every stage!
They definitely have a powerhouse group of riders there. A true team effort.
Somehow I feel that Pogacar likes racing the classics more than GC in grand tours.
thats cause he is such a puncheur. maybe the best after a 100% wva
@@esrepu MVDP is the best by far 😂
Thank You Tooo...
What would be better commentary would be to analyse the tactics to reveal the strategy rather than a sequential synopsis.
🤔 I see many similarities to tdf battles of yore the TT performance resembles 89 Greg lemond and Fignon. The battles up the climbs resemble the days of Lance and his competitors . Overall a great tour
congrats to vindago
Clue: he rode faster!
😂😂😂😂😂spot on! He won!😂😂😂😂😂
Wow! That was news to me
🥰
Let's see the new route....
Flat TT?
Team TT?
Many mountains or not.
Vingo's part time "job" at the fish factory was arranged by his then sports director on team ColoQuick because Jonas didn't manage his day very well when he was a teenager, so this was meant to give him structure it wasn't a job per se..
It's really weird how everyone focusses on that job.
They make it sound like he was a normal person with a everyday job before he became a pro cyclists. When in reality he was already semi/pro and his team gave him the job to help him mature.
@@marek9784 exactly:)
The team announced that Jonas will be heading to race the Vuelta with Roglic. Will this plan backfire and be the catalyst for Roglic wanting to leave the team? I can’t imagine Jonas playing domestique when he can win. The same for Roglic.
They have sayed that the will race with Them both as leaders, like tdf22
@@jacobpedersen8987But what if both are tied for the first position within hypothetically 20-30 secs? Who gets the win?
@@POS36 Presumably whoever is deemed to have the better shot at winning.
@@alex27826 On what grounds though ? If both are within very close timing and have a 3-5 mins lead against the rest. How would the other feel, if the other rider gets prioritised. Both have won a Grand tour in 2023 so who should have priority for a double GT?
@@POS36 The one ahead gets prioritized. But both are captains. They have done it before and are both loyal to the team and each other. You wont see Jonas attacking Roglic ever.
Epic Performance Overall . Never doubt Bjarne Rijs and Rabobank.
the great dane❤🤍
Call me cynical but to put 1:38 into Pogacar over 22klm seems suss.
Definite Pogo-Fanboy, your heart bleeds just narrating this video❣💔 Sorry Ewan! . . . . yours truly Vikingegaard Skeletor!
Ewan narrates this video with a pained fkin heart💔❤🩹. We know, Pogo was your best boy!
It was really about the 1 day when Tadej fell.
Well, plus the ITT.
Guessing the fall really took a lot out of him. Maybe the results are the same regardless, but a shame to see something like a fall affecting the race. In three weeks of racing though, there’s probably lots that influences the outcomes outside of the individual rider’s efforts on the bikes.
I did see someone comment that the fall might've shut his body down - i.e. put it into panic mode. at the very least, it's an interesting idea; not sure if it's based in any reality
Naah guys Pogi was washed after all those activities in the mountains, its very evident just in the pictures of this video and match my observation during the race it starts around stage 14, becomes more clear on stage 15. Look under his eyes there is clear signs of exhaustion lack of energy. This was the tactic all along as TJV had seen this was the recipe to tire him over the long run not on the individual days. the TT he also looked a bit exhausted 17 completely exhausted. Look at pictures of his face around stage 11-12 and there's a staggering difference. Pogacars form was not for a full 21 stage tiring race it was for the first 2 weeks.
TDF is usually about someone fell. If you wanna win it you dont have a day when you fall.
If cyclists worked as lumberjacks when not racing, they'd have better upper body strength.
Maybe he is just the best , i mean , ge gas won two years now, poggi fan , accept thath
Don't think anyone had the time trial time gains planned=== indeed just a bit special
How by having the shortest time from start to finish……..
Nothing suspicious of course in such skyrocketting carriers 🙄
Go back to 2019 and see vingegård pull roglic in spain , he has always been s mountain goat
I think beaucuse he was the fastest after 3 week , maybe poggi broke at whist, but vinge was the fastest after 3 week thats wy he won, thaths just how it is
How can poggi suddently win a mountin stage after , acording to poggi fan , beeing sick an jonas beeing dopede, against All this Ods he wins the last mountain and thats complet naturaly 🙃🙃🙃
He crushed his enemies; saw them driven before him; and heard the lamentations of their women. That’s how he won.
Looking forward to ,how did jonas win the tour 2024 😂
The people saying that either Pogacar og Vingegaard is on performance enhancing drugs need to think about the fact that they are both smart guys. It would be stupid to win the TDF by 7 minutes when you know everyone will want test results and will be doubting on wether or not they are natural
jasper the disaster < jasper the master of sprint
How he won? A lot of hard work and yes, doping. When there is money involved, people will do what it takes. Don’t be naive.
I mean the correct answer is: Pedaling his bike faster than average. 😅
It's very simple doesn't need to explain with a 15mins video the answer is doping
Hopefully no one pushes Team Israel off their bikes in the next tour. Wouldn't that be terrible?
The new Chris froome
Drugs.
Nice playback All over 😅😅😅.he sing Yes but the Voice is dupped with playback
Doping?
Cancer ?
Is the 2 years from a nobody to a 2x TDF winner proves how out of control the doping dominate this sport, or he’s just an exceptional athlete with magic powers?
He came 2nd the year before winning the first time. And yes he is in fact an exceptional athlete, with the 2nd highest VO2 max ever measured in any athlete across ANY sport. He was not an early prodigy like Pogi, but he was certainly not a nobody. Know your shit before talking trash!
@@madsbock7586 still a two year meteoric change. It’s a sad but true statement.
It's not true tho. Dude is a literal freak of nature. Working hard for many many years and becoming better and better every year. @@nononsense852
Those TT splits and margin of victory are highly suspect. Been watching this race for 40 years. Science is ALWAYS ahead of testing measures.
TP is the greater champion
Well, you pick the hero you like. Good for you.

And you know because ???
I can tell you how he won it in two words: He doped.
You're welcome.

I am so happy Pogacar won this TDF🤭🤭🤭🤭🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
😂
Yeah, he has done it 4 times now... In the white jersey young rider classification
@@oscarw1060 "he has done it 4 times now... In the white jersey young rider classification" uh, are you using Pogacar's left-over drugs?
I have nothing against Vingegaard whatsoever but I think the level of his performance was objectively suspicious. I would be saying the exact same thing if Pogacar would have smoked Vingegaard this badly in the TT.
The power meter showed numbers that haven't been matched by any human being not on PHD ever. Accusing him without proof is despicable at worst, but saying this isn't suspicious at all is naive at best.
In any case, this was the best TDF in recent memory; Vive Le Tour !
Does anyone really believe he did not participate in some kind of PED?
Vingegaard does not take drugs. Drugs take Vingegaard!
Drugs ,
Foolish comment. Typical - take it you lost
Fish Broth with VINEGAR, winning 'formula'
There you go . Omega-3 brainfood and willpower . I don't
know if Vingegaard is a coffee drinker .
One word "doping" not even a fan of pogacar ew
Bullshit ! He ain't no Lance Armstrong . Doping is a dangerous and dumb way to win .
I don't care who you were rooting for in this race. Despite not losing time to a bike change, and riding the course decidedly better than his main rival, nobody crushes their near peer rival by 6 1/2 seconds per mile without some unsanctioned assistance. This is even reinforced by the time gap placed by Pogachar over WVA's impressive 3rd place finish.
Are you from the doping control? Go and do your job then....nobody cares here about doping. We are here for Thecyclingdane and their stuff.
@@zaralundcy8884 If you want to be a troll, you’re going to have to do much better than that. Actually I think they should have the steroid Olympics, where consenting athletes can take as much of what they consider to be PED’s. That way when they start dropping like flies, even simps like you will figure out why there are doping controls in reputable disciplines of sports.
@@zaralundcy8884 Look at the Dauphine TT results from 3 weeks ago and TdF TT. Ketons? Yeah, right
