  • Congratulations to Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark on winning the 2023 Tour de France for the second year in a row. With this title, Jonas becomes the first Danish rider to win the Tour de France twice, surpassing Bjarne Riis, who won back in 1996. As Vingegaard and Jumbo-Visma celebrate deep into the Parisian night, we ask the question...how did Jonas Vingegaard win the Tour de France?

These two riders are just insane. They are by far the best climbers, but to also take minutes on everyone else on a 30 minute TT is just Mental.

It's doping when someone you don't like wins. It's skill and hard work when someone you root for wins. Such a shame Pogacar's fanboys act so different than Pogacar. Great tour from Vingegaard and TJV. Congrats to the back 2 back champion.

It's suspicious when two riders appear to be so far ahead of the rest. Or when somebody climbs like a mountain goat and is still able to win sprint finishes.
It is also possible to enjoy the sport and the competition while acknowledging that doping is likely taking place. I had a lot of fun watching the likes of Pantani and we all know how they did it.

I’m a big Pogi fan, but I think Jonas is a better GC rider, currently anyway.
Both are super talents but Jonas has a skill set more suited to the tour. For example, he’s better on the long hot high altitude climbs, which usually decide the tour.
Pogi will always beat Jonas in a flat sprint and explosive power but as we saw this year and last year, that’s not enough.
I think for Pogi to beat Jonas next year he needs to cut back some of the spring classic races and do more prep for the tour. Jonas does not do any one day races, he is completely focussed on the tour and only does the GC races. That’s part of what makes him so tough to beat in the tour.
I think Pogi is the stronger rider all things equal bar none. His versatility has been demonstrated before against Jonas. That’s not to take anything away from Jonas as he is a physiological marvel as well, however Pogi is something truly one in a 100 million physiologically due to his recovery rate.

Pogacar aparently has a vo2 max of 89 , but JV has an incredible 97 vo2 max . That says it all. At a final punch sprint TP will beat JV 9/10. But JV gets better during a 3 week Tour , while TP gets vulnerable the last week
At TJV it was very clear : the TJV workers have to keep the pace high and hard in the first 2 weeks , so TP will deteriate in the last week when JV has to do the damage to TP
      And so it happened.
JV has little chance to win in a one day race ...
But over 3 weeks , with a good team , he is likely to win over Pogy .

Naah guys Pogi was washed after all those activities in the mountains, its very evident just in the pictures of this video and match my observation during the race it starts around stage 14, becomes more clear on stage 15. Look under his eyes there is clear signs of exhaustion lack of energy. This was the tactic all along as TJV had seen this was the recipe to tire him over the long run not on the individual days. the TT he also looked a bit exhausted 17 completely exhausted. Look at pictures of his face around stage 11-12 and there's a staggering difference. Pogacars form was not for a full 21 stage tiring race it was for the first 2 weeks.

I have nothing against Vingegaard whatsoever but I think the level of his performance was objectively suspicious. I would be saying the exact same thing if Pogacar would have smoked Vingegaard this badly in the TT.
The power meter showed numbers that haven't been matched by any human being not on PHD ever. Accusing him without proof is despicable at worst, but saying this isn't suspicious at all is naive at best.
In any case, this was the best TDF in recent memory; Vive Le Tour !

I don't care who you were rooting for in this race. Despite not losing time to a bike change, and riding the course decidedly better than his main rival, nobody crushes their near peer rival by 6 1/2 seconds per mile without some unsanctioned assistance. This is even reinforced by the time gap placed by Pogachar over WVA's impressive 3rd place finish.
