The guy sacrificing his own life to allow his lover and unborn child to survive was a much harder hitting and meaningful scene than the guy and girl killing 6 armed and dangerous men using their Kung fu powers.
That was probably just one place of many and most people are actually good people and there would be great leaders left that would build safe places to be....it wouldn't be all doom and gloom

What a sad story. This guy is surviving on his own, and gets raided by people all the time. Of course, its desperate times, as he and his brother also raided others. BUT, killing him and burining down his house is going above and beyond. People are doing what they have to do to survive, as the mother and daughter also get what they need out of him. this shits super gritty and realistic i loved it so much but it's made as if it definitely wouldn't have had a sequel. which begs the question, had it gone different it maybe could have had further potential like him not dying lol.
i was surprised by how good this movie was. there was a lot going on under the surface, and i appreciated how restrained it was. didn't beat you over the head with its themes, but hinted just enough that you could chew on it afterwards and discover them for yourself. it was kinda fascinating to see how everything got stripped down to the most primitive needs and instincts. food, shelter, sex, survival. just the most fundamental instincts that allow a species to survive. it took me a while to digest why the girl betrayed her mom, but i think ultimately that was the same evolved instinct to propagate the species. both the guy and the girl essentially sacrificed everything else in order to allow the unborn child to survive. that said, the movie seems to attract an unsavory alt-right-y type of viewer who takes from it some sort of "men should provide and women should be available" message from it. or some sort of pro-life message from it. which, no. i don't think it's a political movie at all. the movie doesn't really opine on whether a reversion to primitivism is good or bad. it just is what it is.
Well, if you and your daughter are on the verge of starving to death and this man offers you a place to stay, food, water, just in exchange for sex, I think it would be wise to take that deal. And besides, the daughter consented to the sex, which is the most important part. The man never forced himself on her, so if I was the mom I'd take the deal because it's for the best interest of myself and my child. Also, the daughter is an adult, so it's morally ok.
This movie is really good! Not much dialogue. It’s really not needed! The actors are awesome and the story is excellent! I’ve seen this about 20 times! It is a little sad! So worth watching!

This comment is so naive its hilarious. The man had food, shelter and a water source nearby, one of the things he didn't have was companionship both physical and emotional. Even in the most stressful of times romantic/sexual desire persists. The amount of raping soldiers did during war is a strong testament to that. WW1 and 2 are good examples. During the brief moments of downtime that desire can and often does resurface. I don't know if you are a male of female, but for me its like a switch (Im a male), I can be in serious business/purist mode one moment and in the next a total horn-dog -- If I want to be. Copulation is one of the things that can be enjoyed ad-infinitum (of course rest is necessary between sessions because its important) so long as there are 2 people present. So long as you're both healthy enough that your "tools" will work. It feels great. It passes the time, It relieves stress, its entertaining, It feels great x 2. He didn't force either of those women to have sex with him nor did he force himself upon either of them. He didn't imprison them or threaten to kill them if they didn't do as he asked. They either had to accept or leave and survive on their own. I've always thought about what I would do in a post apocalyptic type scenario. I mean how would I survive and what I would do. Obviously having some advanced warning too prepare would make things a bit easier, but I think I would be all good. I think to survive with the bare minimum resources while managing to remain fairly healthy and at least the slightest bit satisfied just for 1 year, I would make sure I have an 80 pack of multi vitamins and mineral's. Just one every 3 days roughly would be enough to help get some necessary nutrients every week. About 3 large packets of alpine muesli and 3 packs of fruit and fibre, this is highly rationed too a handful of either 1 for breakfast and a handful of the other for lunch and 2 handfuls for dinner. Lots of tins of beans, mixed veg and fruit for a better dinner twice a week. Bottles of water, also highly rationed with 2 mouthfuls in the morning, then a mouthful every 3 hours during the day. Also can collect rain water and use the water from tins of vegetables. A pot of instant coffee, packet of Teabag's, pot of coffee mate, packet of sugar and pot of sweetener's. This is for Fridays, its no longer alcohol night but its thirst quenching night where you get to have a full cup of liquid for a nice hot drink. Have to make do with sweetener's mostly but can treat yourself with sugar once a month. Few packets of fire lighters, match's and lighter fluid for heating water for tea night and hot food. Packets of rice for Saturday's which can be mixed with tined veg and cooked in the water from the can. Some tins of tuna, tins of chicken in white sauce and packs of pasta for a nice proper meal at the end of every fortnight or month. Packet of raisins and packet of mixed fruit and nut's for a little snack, treat or just an energy or sugar boost every now and then. Maybe 2 too 3 generous handfuls randomly throughout the week. Of course when their is a chance to collect rainwater then that's when you use the opportunity for another boiled meal, tea and for a proper satisfying drink. I think about 50 quid would pay for that and would be enough to survive for a year without being too hungry for long periods of time and at the same time rationing it enough to last and survive and be somewhat healthy with enough vitamins, nutrients, minerals and liquid's.
I think youre requiring way too much if you think youll get all that unless you find a grocery store. Also having "treats" is juts a horrible wwy to lose your food. You're better off switching food but eating at consistent amount of calories twice a day. You dont need 3 meals a day, be better too if you fast so you can maximize your rations
I would just find somebody like you and steal everything. Maybe eat you too if get desperate enough. All i need is a few burried glocks, a few burried AK47, a couple of mosbergs, and lots burried ammo for all 3. Then when the apocalypse comes use the glock to steal a car, and find someone like you early on. I would do it a few times, and stash all the supplies i steal in multiple locations and only keep what i need for a month at a central base. Having a central base would be bad because others would come, and all would want to steal. Once i ran out of food, i would eat animals, and once in a while maybe a human. I read they taste like pig anyways. But not too much eating humans, i think eating too much human flesh is bad for you.

i was surprised by how good this movie was. there was a lot going on under the surface, and i appreciated how restrained it was. didn't beat you over the head with its themes, but hinted just enough that you could chew on it afterwards and discover them for yourself. it was kinda fascinating to see how everything got stripped down to the most primitive needs and instincts. food, shelter, sex, survival. just the most fundamental instincts that allow a species to survive. it took me a while to digest why the girl betrayed her mom, but i think ultimately that was the same evolved instinct to propagate the species. both the guy and the girl essentially sacrificed everything else in order to allow the unborn child to survive.
that said, the movie seems to attract an unsavory alt-right-y type of viewer who takes from it some sort of "men should provide and women should be available" message from it. or some sort of pro-life message from it. which, no. i don't think it's a political movie at all. the movie doesn't really opine on whether a reversion to primitivism is good or bad. it just is what it is.

Well, if you and your daughter are on the verge of starving to death and this man offers you a place to stay, food, water, just in exchange for sex, I think it would be wise to take that deal. And besides, the daughter consented to the sex, which is the most important part. The man never forced himself on her, so if I was the mom I'd take the deal because it's for the best interest of myself and my child. Also, the daughter is an adult, so it's morally ok.

Umm because humans are selfish?. Everyone knows that working together will produce better results, but a lot of people value only themselves and don't want to contribute to helping other people. Also, some people would definitely try to kill, rob, rape, and kidnap you, especially if the human government completely collapsed, so that's another instance where killing others is necessary to your survival.

This comment is so naive its hilarious. The man had food, shelter and a water source nearby, one of the things he didn't have was companionship both physical and emotional. Even in the most stressful of times romantic/sexual desire persists. The amount of raping soldiers did during war is a strong testament to that. WW1 and 2 are good examples. During the brief moments of downtime that desire can and often does resurface. I don't know if you are a male of female, but for me its like a switch (Im a male), I can be in serious business/purist mode one moment and in the next a total horn-dog -- If I want to be.
Copulation is one of the things that can be enjoyed ad-infinitum (of course rest is necessary between sessions because its important) so long as there are 2 people present. So long as you're both healthy enough that your "tools" will work. It feels great. It passes the time, It relieves stress, its entertaining, It feels great x 2. (Although not to everyone, some people are repulsed by sex, but most people have the drive just in varying degrees of intensity)

But even this contribution you made is off topic, in the movie -- he was completely willing to let them go. He didn't force either of those women to have sex with him nor did he force himself upon either of them. He didn't imprison them or threaten to kill them if they didn't do as he asked. They either had to accept or leave and survive on their own.
They bargained and everyone agree on the terms ( The younger woman have sex with me) and what payment would be offered (food, water, protection and shelter)
This is more akin to paying for a service/prostitute than rape. (This is me assuming the woman he slept with was not a minor)
However I do feel like he was being manipulative by taking advantage of the situation because it would be difficult for people to refuse such an offer (given the context). But nevertheless -- they did have the option to refuse, rapists don't give you such an option -- at all.
So although I wouldn't say what he did was totally okay (its definitely ethically/morally questionable), I don't think "rape" is an appropriate label here. Taking advantage... absolutely.
The only way i see this could have been rape, is if the woman changed her mind just before sex and he ignored her and had sex with her anyway to get his "money worth" then yes, it would be rape because at this point the woman has backed out of the agreement and is not willing to have sex with him anymore... This did not happen.

I haven't seen the movie so I can't determine whether this situation was or wasn't rape, I would have to see it first. And also if the agreement was "don't finish inside her" and he did, that's absolutely a violation of consent.

I've always thought about what I would do in a post apocalyptic type scenario. I mean how would I survive and what I would do. Obviously having some advanced warning too prepare would make things a bit easier, but I think I would be all good. I think to survive with the bare minimum resources while managing to remain fairly healthy and at least the slightest bit satisfied just for 1 year, I would make sure I have an 80 pack of multi vitamins and mineral's. Just one every 3 days roughly would be enough to help get some necessary nutrients every week. About 3 large packets of alpine muesli and 3 packs of fruit and fibre, this is highly rationed too a handful of either 1 for breakfast and a handful of the other for lunch and 2 handfuls for dinner. Lots of tins of beans, mixed veg and fruit for a better dinner twice a week. Bottles of water, also highly rationed with 2 mouthfuls in the morning, then a mouthful every 3 hours during the day. Also can collect rain water and use the water from tins of vegetables. A pot of instant coffee, packet of Teabag's, pot of coffee mate, packet of sugar and pot of sweetener's. This is for Fridays, its no longer alcohol night but its thirst quenching night where you get to have a full cup of liquid for a nice hot drink. Have to make do with sweetener's mostly but can treat yourself with sugar once a month. Few packets of fire lighters, match's and lighter fluid for heating water for tea night and hot food. Packets of rice for Saturday's which can be mixed with tined veg and cooked in the water from the can. Some tins of tuna, tins of chicken in white sauce and packs of pasta for a nice proper meal at the end of every fortnight or month. Packet of raisins and packet of mixed fruit and nut's for a little snack, treat or just an energy or sugar boost every now and then. Maybe 2 too 3 generous handfuls randomly throughout the week. Of course when their is a chance to collect rainwater then that's when you use the opportunity for another boiled meal, tea and for a proper satisfying drink. I think about 50 quid would pay for that and would be enough to survive for a year without being too hungry for long periods of time and at the same time rationing it enough to last and survive and be somewhat healthy with enough vitamins, nutrients, minerals and liquid's.

I think youre requiring way too much if you think youll get all that unless you find a grocery store. Also having "treats" is juts a horrible wwy to lose your food. You're better off switching food but eating at consistent amount of calories twice a day. You dont need 3 meals a day, be better too if you fast so you can maximize your rations
I would just find somebody like you and steal everything. Maybe eat you too if get desperate enough. All i need is a few burried glocks, a few burried AK47, a couple of mosbergs, and lots burried ammo for all 3. Then when the apocalypse comes use the glock to steal a car, and find someone like you early on. I would do it a few times, and stash all the supplies i steal in multiple locations and only keep what i need for a month at a central base. Having a central base would be bad because others would come, and all would want to steal. Once i ran out of food, i would eat animals, and once in a while maybe a human. I read they taste like pig anyways. But not too much eating humans, i think eating too much human flesh is bad for you.

Where the most violent gangs, the more violent people would control the situation gained by force. There would be some solidarity, but only culturally, and by the culture that is the strongest. It would be like Prison, where people group up by culture/race and only the strongest have the best stuff. It would be more like the Walking Dead, where there is co0operation and solidarity, but only because some like Rick and his gang fight for it by being the most powerful, against the more savage and less noble.
