- House of the Dragon S2E5 “Regent” makes a whole lot of questions crystal clear: there is something even stronger than House Targaryen in House of the Dragon. In the aftermath of Rook’s Rest, House of the Dragon Season 2 Ep 5 explores what the protagonists are really up against, a problem that still exists in Game of Thrones’ time. The show’s direction and marketing are clever; the House of the Dragon season 2 trailer made it seem like Allicent vs Rhaenyra, but that was never it for the HBO Max banner show. House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5 truly turns the tides for hotd, in both a devastating and brilliant way. Could we have expected Daemon to show us, the audience, his true colors based on the House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5 specific trailer? Probably not, and the HBO show also delivered on the stakes of dragons,if it wasn’t already clear. The Max show has wavered on Daemon Targaryen and Aemond Targaryen, on who these men are and would be, but there aren’t many questions unanswered after this point in the House of the Dragon episodes so far. The tragic characters of Alicent Hightower, Rhaernyra Targareyn, and Rhaenys Targaryen are explored in this House of the Dragon breakdown!
Its baffling to see how people are calling it boring. This show has been so well made and the love from the writers for the source material really shows

Why are so many people against slow burns? Character and characterization matters. If you don’t care about the people in the story and understand their motivations, it kills the dramatic impact of the action and plot-point payoffs when it happens. To each their own, but don’t whine about “Bad Writing” if you can’t sit through basic prose and pacing.

Edit: Early GoT didn't do things just for the shock, it was usually actions have consequences. The red wedding was what happens when you play the game of thrones and make a promise you don't keep
Not sure how it will top season one but so far it's a worthy continuation. You can tell the writers are actually fans of grrms world. They have honestly elevated a lot of the source material.
It is about all mess people can create when they dont listen to each other and have no interest in solving things. The problem here is that they have dragons, and that makes things a lot worst.
Or in the show's case, it only takes 1 side to not listen. Anybody that is team green is just plain wrong.

The charcters from GoT were way more interesting, witty and memorable. You cared for every single one of them and you were constantly on your toes, wondering what will happen next.The dialogue was top tier. In HotD characters are less interesting, it's more of a political drama and it kinda makes sence, since it's based on a book that's written like a history book. That said, the show is still better than the Acolyte and The Rings of Powder crap

Daemon's character has been butchered this season. None of this Herrenhal nonsense was in the books. The show writers are intentionally villainizing Daemon perticularly. Book Rhaenyra and Daemon very much thinks alike. Both of them wanted revenge on greens by any means necessary. Rhaenyra didn't had any argument with Daemon for Blood and Cheese because at that time Daemon already captured Harrenhal without any fuss He imprisoned Harrenhal residents which included Alys Rivers. She had no influence on Daemon. He competently raised a riverlander army for Rhaenyra in Fire and Blood. Book Daemon is a very capable and ruthless person. In the books Daemon was the protector of the realm and had much more power. Rhaenyra and Daemon didn't had any power rivalry , this notion is completely a show thing. Book Daemon and Rhaenyra were a genuine power couple that Aemond the kinslayer feared.
