    Dude. You can tell you're such a good person by how you appreciate Jimmy. You compliment him and teach him useful skills. Huge props!

      :-) He's a good kid, I wish I got to spend more time with him, but they live a couple states away, but I'm glad to say my sister and him will be visiting this summer so I'll get a couple more videos with him while he's here and get to teach him some more stuff :-) stay tuned :-)

    Thanks for the video, helped me a lot to decide what Buttons get for my project

      Awesome, if you do order from Ultimarc, let Andy know that my videos helped you make the decision :-) he's a good guy :-)

    Good info. I need to get my arcade rolling. This looks like so much fun.

    Great info. I have purchased many of my arcade parts from Andy as well, haven't dove into the LED Blinky software......thought I would try it after watching your videos, but it still perplexed me so I wired mine to come on from my PC power supply. Less hassle, and it seemed to get the job done. :)
    Keep up the great videos......absolutely the most informative on CZcams. Thanks to you I was able to get my light guns working with MAME. You are the man with the plan!!

      @MavericksArcade  Před 5 lety +1

      AWESOME, if you decide to tackle LEDBlinky again at some point, let me know, could be a good support video. Also, glad you were able to get your guns working, I notice when I show my friends the arcade for the first time, they're impressed, but then when I show them the gun games they get 100% nostalgic :-)

    wow this is 2 yrs old but good stuff. Though it slows the video down, i do actually appreciate the time spent by you and your nephew doing a thorough analysis of look, feel, sound of the these buttons trying to really relay as much as you could to the viewer. and i really appreciate how you get your nephew's input which was really helpful observations. I like the chrome look but it sounds like the goldleaf ones might be the ones to roll with based on feel and sound. maybe i'll get chrome ones for pinball or extra buttons.

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 3 lety +1

      Not a bad idea. I use the chrome ones for my pinball buttons/plunger button, and the insert coins as they are mounted in the wood with no plexi on the front and sides. The control panel with the plex works much better with the translucent buttons because the light goes through the plexi. If I had the chrome ones there, it wouldn't illuminate the plexi :)

    Great video. I'm switching out my encoder controller card from a Howler to the iPac Ultimate I/O. I wish you made this video earlier this week., I just purchase and waiting for delivery of Ultimarc Classic RGB's. I was on the fence and was not sure which one to get. The connection ends of the Gold Leaf push button was my concern. I did not feel like crimping the wires.

    Awesome Mav- I have a squeaky button or two on my Qanba Obsidian courtesy of some "aggressive" (read this as being pissed off at losing and bashing the fight-stick buttons) game play- These buttons are so quiet my "arcade" is next to the kids bedrooms, in our landing, so I can see a benefit! Nice video!

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 5 lety +1

      Quiet helps, which is why I'm glad my speaker system was made from Logitech speakers and I was able to preserve the control board. My son can play while I work and use headphones :-)

      @stevebouralexis7162 Před 5 lety +1

      Im a bit tough on mine- they only get to play rarely, I spend more time tinkering and fine tuning than actual playing these days- The better half complains about the noise more than the kids do- lol

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 5 lety

      Totally with you on that one. At some point in the near future I'm going to show off my VR arcade room :-) Playing around VR is time consuming as well :-)

      look forward to seeing that video when it lands!- VR messes with my head, infact anything more than 2hrs in a racing sim does my head in too! Im getting soft in my old age

    I'm really torn on which button to get. I like the classic concave leaf. But I've also spent a bunch of time in Japan and like the convex as well...

  • @JeepnHeel
    @JeepnHeel Před 4 lety +1

    Thanks for the great in-depth comparison! As someone with an initial preference for concave buttons like yourself -- do you still think the pros from the goldleafs outweigh any cons after using them for some time?

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 3 lety

      I haven't had any issues with them and they light the plexi beautifully.

  • @TheNotoriousNemo
    @TheNotoriousNemo Před 5 lety +1

    I have some siemitsu buttons. Not sure if thats how u spell them but they dont light up, are really easy to press almost featherlike, really perfect.
    So once i build my next arcade, are these rgb really worth it for playing or are they just a gimmick?

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 5 lety +1

      I love things looking flashy and pretty LOL... that being said, these new ones are very accurate. I also like having the appropriate buttons light and even more so, light the original colors. It helps with people that don't know the system and also makes it feel more original when the buttons are colored correctly to the original games. So to answer your question more directly, it's 100% a preference thing.

    Nice video!
    I just got in my ultimarc rgb micro goldleaf buttons to replace the standard led zippy microswitched buttons in my cab and they feel great!
    Im trying to visualize the inner workings without tearing one apart. Ive used true leaf switches and various types of microswitches over the years and know the inner workings of both.
    Im trying to visualize what the micro leaf switches look like inside and how the leafs are setup and work.
    I cant find any diagrams or teardown videos or any pics or info at all. Have you seen a teardown or know of any links?

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 3 lety

      No I have not... I may end up having to break one down to make 3D models of it, but we'll see :-/

    Does the ultimarc ultimate come with instructions? Is it super easy to hook these buttons up to it? I'm new to all this and trying to get the best of the best but not be in over my head when trying to put it together!

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 5 lety

      If you get Ultimarc RGBs that already have the connectors, then yes, otherwise, you would need to put the wires into a female 4-pin jumper connector

  • @knightrdrx
    @knightrdrx Před 4 lety +1

    but aren't those for pinball flippers? the leaf switches? or since now we have the choice and we are older and are fingers are getting stiffer we should get leaf switches as arcade buttons.

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 3 lety

      LOL, the leaf buttons seem to react quicker, which for games like Mortal Kombat would be less likely to 'miss' inputs :-) Not age - competitiveness :-)

    Although an older video, still a good one. I'm sure you get inundated with messages, but I'm hoping you'll be able to respond to my question. I've been trying to find low voltage male/female spade connectors, but all I seem to find is a multi pack that goes all the way to 10 gauge. Do you have a particular spot you could mention where you get your low voltage connectors...or have gotten them in the past that doesn't include huge gauge connectors? Your content has helped me tremendously with getting a lot of Mame and other things set up. Thanks and take care.

    • @MavericksArcade

      Howdy James, sorry for the delay, I'll explain more in my next video (hopefully very soon). Honestly I've usually just grabbed wire packs from Home Depot or Amazon. My wiring has been sloppy in the past, but hopefully I'll redo my main machines wires in the near future, or at least get it right the first time with the Arcade 1UP mod projects. :)

    So...its more quiet...but can you still feel the "click" sensation? Or you feel nothing at all...

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 5 lety

      You don't really feel a click sensation as much as a firm pressed stop. Still, I prefer the quiet and accurate count of the button press.

  • @Speedracer50

    now you have the same buttons i put in the cab i was talking to you about on your other video, after seeing the button side by side i can see where my color difference maybe coming from, try your greys and browns and tell me what you think. maybe we can come up with a solution to make them brighter. here is the video i did of mine once completed. my top row is the classic ones and all the player buttons are the new ones. czcams.com/video/dEhuyhMX6zk/video.html . make sure you watch the credits :)

      Thanks for the shout out. I subbed your channel, that's like throwing down a gauntlet to say make more right? :-) Sounds good, I sent an email to my suggestions/topic folder I keep in my email when I come up with video ideas. I'll play with it and see if I can make a tutorial on getting the desired colors out of the buttons. It's always difficult to make something dark using light :-) Thanks again!
