I've been a Dolphins fan since Shula's first press conference. Which means I've seen a lot of great QB play by our two HOF QB's...Bob Griese and Dan Marino. Of the five SB's we went to, the two we won the Dolphins had three HOF'ers in the G/C/G positions and an All Pro at LT and a league leading points allowed defense. Give a similar team to Tua and I am confident he can win a SB or two.
So he needs pro bowlers at every position plus the best defense. Unfortunately there’s this thing called the salary cap, so once they pay Tua they will lose talent, and tua would have to carry the team

Tua would need a defense on the level of the Ravens, Bucs and Bears SB years to win anything. He can't control a game like Mahomes. The game controls him. If it weren't for the 10 out of 11 teams we beat being mediocre or worse we wouldn't have even been in the playoffs.

I agree over all, but before the injuries I thought the OL was actually playing well. I think that had a lot to do with Tuas decline in play at the end of the season. I trust our OL coach Butch Barry to get it right.

He leveraged his situation to get extra seasons and money because the giants had no path to a successor.
I'm pretty sure the franchise tag was just over 30 million. Had the Giants done that Jones would've been a free agent, and he wouldn't have gotten more than backup qb money.

Tua played very well against great defenses last year. Jets and cowboys to give a couple examples. I’m not worried about Tua at all he’s great he will keep us in the SB conversation every year. Herb will fall off. Love will fall off stroud will fall off. Tua will be in that convo EVERY YEAR

Tua cannot beat good teams (1-6 against winning teams in 2023). As we saw in KC, Tua cannot throw in winter weather, meaning you have zero chance to win a playoff game on the road in the AFC. He’s struggled with concussions (just 1 year ago people were saying he should retire). He’s struggled with his weight. He’s a good nfl quarterback, but giving him a big contract is the absolute worst thing a team that wants to contend should do.

Honestly, saying “we know Justin Herbert is better than Tua” is an interesting statement. I’d agree wholeheartedly that the IDEA and POSSIBLE POTENTIAL of Herbert is better than Tua but going off of what we have seen on the field between the two so far I would have to say that you CANT say we know that. I don’t believe that is a KNOWN. Maybe an educated guess for the future or an opinion but definitely not a KNOWN.
JH looked considerably better when they played each other. And if they swapped keenan allen for tyreek hill, I think JH would look overwelhmingly better.

But I was actually talking about the other 16 games of each season, collectively, as a whole. A receivers make a difference but not all the difference and Williams and Allen are Great WRs. Maybe not quite Tyreek, but the difference in him from them isn’t within means of the justification you’re presenting. Imo of course.

With Waddle and Hill, the Dolphins HAVE to get a true #1 QB. Tua was about to be a career backup until Hill, Waddle, and Mcdaniels got there. They may not draft one this year, but they certainly should NOT pay him until next year. His numbers are huge but collapse against any team that disrupts the timing at all. His numbers were a mirage and disappear in the analytics.
He has done a phenomenal job with Tua, but they can't beat anyone good. Their only win against a winning team last year was a home squeeker against the team in the other conference with the same reputation as a glass canon who couldn't win on the road.

Simms is so accurate on his assessment Greer has put his personal portfolio job and reputation ahead of the needs of the franchise and that is taboo.
