    Great show... I can tell your passion for growing tomatoes... You are the first person I've seen online that knew how good black seaman tomatoes are, I have the very same thoughts... I will tell ya another dark tomato that has absolutely amazing flavor, it is the Gary Osina tomato, it is a cross between brandywine and Cherokee purple... Somehow with this cross it is noticeably better than either parent, that is saying alot considering both parents are great tomatoes... Also for a tomato being a conversation piece the Lucid gem from Brad Gates is not only a conversation piece, it is one of or maybe the best tasting tomato in the garden... The Lucid gem starts with purple shoulders and green bottom then it changes to purple shoulders and orange bottom then it changes to black shoulders and pale red bottom, beautiful and tasty, best shelf life for a tomato in the whole garden... I have a few decades experience in growing heirlooms and open pollinated tomatoes, feel free to shoot any question about any varieties, I have grew alot, not all but a lot...

      Thank you! I am so happy there is another person online that knows about Black Seaman. Not a lot of people know about this tomato. Thank you for your suggestions. I can’t wait to try Gary Osina. I will grow it next year for sure. If it is even better than both parents, I can’t even imagine how good it will be.
      Wow! Lucid Gem from Brad Gates is absolutely stunning. I will try to get my hands on the seeds. Do you have any cherry tomatoes to recommend?

      You are right we do seem to have similar ideas of what is good 😁. I actually almost added Brad's Atomic Grape to my list but in it's place I decided to try Prairie Fire, which is very similar to Brad's Atomic Grape. Your list looks amazing. The only problem that I see with your list is that you did not stick to 4 cherry and 4 big 😂 But us gardeners never do. We always plant more. I think "more is more" in the garden world. I will try Hillbilly from your list next year. I've never grown this variety but wanted to try for a long time.

    That's a great list! I too am growing Cherokee Purple, and Sunrise Bumblebee, I'm also growing Purple Bumblebee, Barry's Crazy Cherry, Costoluto Genovese, San Marzano, Sweet 100, Caspian Pink, Bloody Butcher, Brandywine Red, and the tiny Red Currant. I'll keep an eye on your channel to see your progress! I've got my seedlings started indoors already.

    I’m trying many of those varieties. Here’s a few highly recommended varieties that you might like: green zebra, a unique sweet/tart smaller but productive one, Sungold cherry, and Rose de Berne (fruition seeds - shorter season types) which is described as pink brandywines abundant cousin. Good luck gardening in 2023! 🍅👩‍🌾

      Thank you for your comment and great recommendations. I grew Sungold once and it performed very well and I loved the flavor. I have to grow it again. Green Zebra I wanted to try but it just got away from me. I’ve never heard about Rose de Berne but I looked it up and I will definitely try to get seeds. I’m very excited for the 2023 season and all three varieties that you recommended made the list. 😊

      @@skyblueoasis3147 thanks, I noticed the beautiful mountains in the background, and you mentioned a shorter season, so fruition seeds focuses on shorter season heirlooms. I live in Denver so they “should” grow well. Good luck in 2023 also! PS, I’m going to add black seaman to my list.

    Just my opinion but Purple Bumblebees is tastier than Sunrise Bumblebee tomato. It is sweet and smoky with a medium thin skin so it doesn't split, but does bust in the mouth with flavor. It grew the longest in my zone 5 even after frosts while the other tomatoes were done a month before. I had endless small bumblebee tomatoes. Maybe some other year you can try it. 🙂

      Wow sounds like Purple Bumblebee is a perfect tomato! Love the flavor profile that you described. I looked it up and it is only 60-70 days to maturity! I will include it on my must try tomatoes in 2023. Thank you for the suggestion.

  • @user-gy2xk4ot8f
    @user-gy2xk4ot8f Před rokem

    I listened to the place where you say that Sasha Altai is the most delicious tomato from Siberia and could not resist speaking out. The tomato capital of Russia is located in the city of Minusinsk in Siberia, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory region. Tomato festivals are held there every year, where the most delicious and large tomato is chosen. In 2021, the largest tomato was the Minusinsky Pink Giant variety weighing 2 kg. 270 gr. It is the most delicious of pink tomatoes. A huge number of very productive and very tasty varieties have been bred in Minusinsk. There are more than a hundred of them. Google will help you. Sasha Altai in Russia is considered a tomato for beginners. I am a tomato collector with 25 years of experience and I want to tell you that among the black tomatoes, the most delicious is the Russian variety Black Crimea, the second is the American variety Carbon, the third is Black from Tula. Purple Cherokee is delicious, but the taste does not compete with those mentioned. Among the reds and pinks, the most delicious and productive is the American variety, the famous Miss Schlaubach strawberry, followed by the Italian tomato Work Release Paste. Tomatoes with anthocyanin are American varieties of Sergeant Pepper, Pink Siberian Tiger and Pascal from Picardy. Of the Yellow tomatoes, in my opinion, the most delicious are Arkansas Delight, Mermaid (American varieties) and the Russian variety Orange Heart and the Mystery of Nature. Of the green-fruited tomatoes, the most delicious and productive are the Russian variety Boloto, tomato with potato leaf Taiga by Canadian breeder Karen Olivier, as well as Black pineapple. Green fruit varieties have a high sugar content, they are hypoallergenic, and the chlorophyll contained in them has a hematopoietic effect and rejuvenates the body.
    Good luck and rich harvests.

      Thank you so much for your comment and the wealth of knowledge. 25 years of experience of growing/ collecting tomato seeds is very impressive. I read about the tomato festival in Minusinsk in Siberia and it is actually on my bucket list to visit one day. 😊 I was able to find seeds for the tomatoes varieties that you recommended Black Crimea, Carbon, Ms. Schlaubach’s Strawberry, Sergeant Pepper, Pink Siberian Tiger, Pascal from Picardy, Mermaid and Mystery of Nature
      I struggled to find seeds for Orange Heart and Minusinsky Pink Giant. Is it possible that they go by a different name? When I looked up “Minusinsky Pink Giant”, “Minusinsk Lion” came up in the search result but I’m not sure if this is the same tomato.
      I can’t wait to plant and taste all the varieties that you recommended. I was already planning on growing Black Pineapple since it was recommended by another viewer. And I already grew Black from Tula in 2022 and I absolutely agree with you. The flavor was amazing!
      Thank you again for all your recommendations. Happy gardening!
