Great video! I love the early costumes, but I might be biased in favor of green costumes by seeing the Disney movie first. Somehow green just feels more youthful to me. I do love mishmashed and leafy Pan costumes. I think the Broadway musical has some of my favorite versions
I feel like there's a sort of American vs British way of portraying Peter. I feel the green and leafy comes from America because most American productions of Peter Pan have tried imitating Maude Adams while most English productions were based on Nina's portrayal. Up until 1954, when Mary Martin and Disney took over as everyones view of Peter Pan. As for my preference, I like a mix of various different types of leaves and colours, as though Peter fixes his tunic with new leaves everytime one falls off or is damaged, so that there's a mix of leaves from all seasons and all at different stages of being alive.
It's a fascinating history isn't it! How different styles and versions and how people picture a character being entirely influenced by specific moments...
Tried to listen to the Jean Forbes-Robertson recording, but apparently the video is unavailable. Anyway, even though I'm more a fan of purely leafy designs/more cobbled together type looks, these costumes do look great in design and functionality for sure.
I don't know anything about plays or how they're made, this was really cool. Thanks for sharing

I am the same but the other way around! 😄 it's always fun to see what different people relate back to characters when they first met them
